Malik, a 5 years old male Alaskan Malamute available for adoption from Paws Help in Staffordshire

Malik

Staffordshire
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedAlaskan Malamute

Malik arrived in UK in spring straight to foster, a wonderful family who adopted another dog from us before. He had a treatable growth which required veterinary treatment and his foster, who immediately fell in love with him, said he will not let him go until fully healthy. Malik has completed his treatment and has been given a clean bill of health by his veterinarian. He is completely healthy now, requires no ongoing treatment, and is 100% ready for many happy years ahead with his new family. Meet MalikMalik is a 7.5-year-old large boy, likely Malamute cross, with a calm, affectionate and incredibly empathic nature. He is one of those dogs who simply makes life feel easier. Easy to live with, easy to love and easy to welcome into your home. Highlights • SIZE: Large (59–60 cm / 37 kg)• NEUTERED: Yes• CHARACTER: Calm • Affectionate • Empathic • Gentle • Easy-going• DOGS: Friendly and very patient with resident dog, selective when on a leash• CATS: Not tested, probably no• CHILDREN: Wonderful and gentle Rescue StoryMalik was found alone on the territory of an abandoned factory — unwanted and forgotten. He was taken to a municipal shelter where dogs are given only a short window to be claimed before being released back onto the streets.Volunteers knew Malik would not cope with that life. His trusting nature and gentle character made him far too vulnerable. Thankfully, he was given the chance he deserved. More About MalikMalik is an incredibly calm, balanced and emotionally intelligent dog.His foster says: “Malik is a truly special boy. He’s gentle, wise and very empathic. His easy-going nature makes him very easy to live with and his attention-grabbing looks mean he gets a lot of fuss.”He settled immediately into foster life and integrated well with the resident rescue dog, who is nervous herself.“He’s very respectful of her space and never reacted to any of her attempts to wind him up.”Malik has a wonderful way about him. He seems to understand other dogs and people instinctively and responds with patience and kindness. He absolutely trusts and loves people and happily introduces himself to everyone he meets both inside and outside the house. His striking appearance may be what first catches people’s attention, but it is his wonderful temperament that leaves the lasting impression. He enjoys company, affection and a good game of tug. He’s clever, inquisitive and genuinely loves being involved in everyday life. His foster describes him simply as: “He’s a joy to be around.”Like many Malamute-type dogs, Malik is active and loves his walks. He would want to be with a family who enjoy walking, hiking and spending time outdoors. But once he’s had a good walk, he’ll happily settle and snooze all day long.He is a strong boy with a natural prey drive, which is exactly what you would expect from his breed type. He will need owners who understand large northern breeds and can provide appropriate walks, guidance and enrichment. His foster also feels that his occasional uncertainty around unfamiliar dogs is likely linked to being on lead and having limited social opportunities since arriving in the UK. He believes his confidence will continue to improve with more training, positive experiences and regular socialisation. Ideal HomeMalik would thrive with people who enjoy outdoor life and want a dog as a true companion. A home with a secure garden and owners who appreciate large breeds would suit him perfectly. He could live as an only dog or potentially with a suitable friendly and calm female dog. Most importantly, he needs a family who will appreciate the wonderful dog he is — calm, loving, loyal and full of quiet wisdom. Malik is one of those dogs who doesn’t need to try hard to be special. He simply is. The kind of dog who becomes part of the family from day one and leaves pawprints on your heart forever. Health InformationMalik is fully healthy, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He has completed his non-malignant growth treatment, has been officially cleared with a clean bill of health and requires no ongoing treatment. All dogs are C.Brucella tested before travel (owners receive a licensed laboratory test certificate).Name of pet you are interested inWebsite designed and provided by Go & Get Cyber Hype

Seff, a 10 years old male Alaskan Malamute available for adoption from Cheltenham Animal Shelter in Gloucestershire

Seff

Gloucestershire
SexMale
Age10 years
BreedAlaskan Malamute

Meet Seff, a gorgeous 10-year-old Malamute with a gentle soul and the loveliest balance of independence and affection. This handsome older boy is looking for a calm home where he can enjoy life at his own pace and be adored for the sweet companion he is.Seff is happiest in a peaceful environment and would suit a home with older teenagers aged 16+, as he’s never lived around children and really enjoys the quieter side of life. He’s a sensitive boy around other dogs, so he would prefer to be the only dog in the home where he can fully relax and feel secure. However, he has previously lived happily alongside cats and could potentially share his home with a calm feline friend again. One of Seff’s most endearing qualities is how wonderfully easy-going he can be. He enjoys spending time with his people but is equally content having his own space and a snooze nearby. In his previous home he was comfortable being left for several hours, making him a lovely companion for someone looking for a dog who isn’t overly demanding.Seff still enjoys getting out and about for his walks, especially if there are plenty of interesting smells to investigate along the way – sniffing adventures are one of his favourite things! He also travels well in the car, so he’d happily join you on gentle outings and countryside strolls. Seff can sometimes be a little stiff in his back legs, so he would really benefit from having access to a secure garden where he can potter about, stretch his legs, and enjoy the fresh air on slower days when he doesn’t fancy venturing too far. While he may be a distinguished older gentleman, he still has a playful side, particularly when squeaky toys are involved!Seff is a truly sweet natured dog with so much love still to give. He’s looking for a kind home that will appreciate his gentle spirit, respect his need for calm surroundings, and cherish him through his golden years. In return, you’ll gain a wonderful companion who will become a very special part of your life.
