Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: 11/06/2025
Last Updated: 15/05/2026
Welcome to Rescue Finder. By accessing or using this website (including the Charity Portal described below), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Use of This Website
Rescue Finder provides a directory of dogs available for adoption from rescue organisations across the UK. This site is for informational purposes only. We do not directly facilitate adoptions, handle enquiries about individual dogs, or act as an adoption agency.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for the adoption processes of charities listed on Rescue Finder unless we state otherwise. Members of the public should contact the relevant rescue organisation directly.
2. Charity Portal
Approved charities and rescues may use our Charity Portal to manage a public charity profile and publish dog listings on Rescue Finder. The following terms apply if you register for, apply to, or use the Charity Portal.
2.1 Registration and approval
- Access to the Charity Portal is by application only. We may approve or decline applications at our discretion.
- You must provide accurate and complete information when registering and keep your account details up to date.
- You must be authorised to act on behalf of the charity or rescue you register.
- We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, provide misleading information, or pose a risk to the service or users.
2.2 Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- We may contact you by email about your application, account, or listings (including service messages such as approval or decline notices).
2.3 Profiles and dog listings
- You are responsible for the accuracy of your charity profile and all dog listings you submit, including text, images, and contact details shown to the public.
- You must only list dogs that are genuinely available for adoption through your organisation and keep listings up to date (including marking dogs as unavailable when they are no longer available).
- Live listings may be displayed publicly on Rescue Finder, including on your charity page and in search results.
- Live listings are active for 21 days unless refreshed through the portal. After that period, listings may automatically move to unavailable and no longer appear in public search, unless you refresh them.
- You must have the right to use any images and content you upload, and they must not infringe third-party rights or contain unlawful, misleading, or offensive material.
2.4 Licence to display your content
By submitting content through the Charity Portal, you grant Rescue Finder a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, reproduce, and display that content on Rescue Finder and in related communications (for example, promoting adoptable dogs on the site), solely for operating and promoting the service. You retain ownership of your content.
2.5 Our rights
We may edit, hide, remove, or refuse to publish any profile or listing, or suspend portal access, if we reasonably believe content is inaccurate, outdated, misleading, unlawful, or harmful to users or the reputation of Rescue Finder. We are not obliged to host any particular charity or listing.
3. Accuracy of Information
We aim to keep listings up to date, but we cannot guarantee that all information (including age, breed, availability, location, or contact details) is accurate, complete, or current. This applies to listings sourced from third-party websites and to listings submitted through the Charity Portal.
We recommend visiting the linked rescue organisation or contacting them directly before taking action on any listing.
4. Third-Party Content and Links
Rescue Finder aggregates and displays information from rescue organisations, including content submitted through the Charity Portal and information obtained from charities' own websites. We are not responsible for the policies, actions, or practices of any rescue organisation or third-party website. Visiting external sites is at your own discretion.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on this website that is owned or created by Rescue Finder (including branding, original illustrations, layout, and structure) is our property unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce or redistribute that material without written permission.
Charity names, logos, photographs, and listing text submitted through the Charity Portal remain the property of the relevant organisation or rights holder, subject to the licence in section 2.4.
6. Limitation of Liability
Rescue Finder is not responsible for:
- Unsuccessful adoption attempts or decisions made by rescue organisations
- Misinformation in listings, including content submitted by charities through the portal
- Any loss or damage resulting from reliance on site content
- Interruption, error, or unavailability of the website or Charity Portal
- Actions or omissions of charities using the portal
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with the website or Charity Portal is limited. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Use of this website is at your own risk.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information, including for Charity Portal accounts.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Your continued use of the site or Charity Portal after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the service and may close your portal account.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the website or Charity Portal at any time.
