Date of Birth 30/06/2021Breed Jack Russell X SpanielSex FemaleCan live with cats NoCan live with dogs NoCan live with younger children NoCan live with older children 16+Neutered YesVaccinated YesMicrochipped Yes Aggie is a spirited, 3 year old crossbreed that has come into our care as an unclaimed stray through the dog warden. Aggie is full of energy and is looking for an active household where she will have her exercise and mental stimulation needs met. Aggie would be suited to being the only pet in the household so she can have all the attention she deserves and training she requires to thrive. She can live with sensible children aged 16 and upwards who will suitably interact with her and appreciate the need to give her space when she needs it. Aggie is very eager to explore on her walks, and can pull on the lead. Due to her size, this is manageable but her new family would benefit from working on loose lead walking when she is in her new home. Aggie has the potential to learn very quickly. She is very food orientated and responds wonderfully to positive rewards based training, she therefore would benefit from an owner who can continue with her training with kindness and consistency. Aggie can be cautious around new people and situations. She’ll need slow, patient introductions to unfamiliar faces. However, once she warms up, Aggie has the potential to be a loyal and affectionate companion. Aggie will need her new owner to be around the majority of the day initially, while she gets familiar with her surroundings and routine, but leaving hours can slowly be introduced once she is settled. If you’re looking for a lively, loving dog who will keep you on your toes, Aggie might just be the perfect match for you! Albie, a 2 years old male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel available for adoption from Bliss Cavalier Rescue in Lincolnshire

Bliss Cavalier Rescue

Albie

Lincolnshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedCavalier King Charles Spaniel

Location: North LincolnshireHealth conditions: Chiari-like malformation (CM) with pain – now well controlled on medication. Cryptorchid (retained testicles) on arrival; has undergone surgical removal and recovered well. History of an anal gland abscess in rescue, now fully resolved. Heart clear. On medication? Yes – lifelong medication for Chiari malformation (approx. £40 per month)Behaviour traits: Friendly, confident, social and affectionate. Excellent with new people. Will bark at dogs when out. Extremely prey driven – highly stimulated by birds, squirrels and other small animals, and can become very strong when triggered. Activity level: High – needs at least two good walks every day. Training required: Ongoing recall and lead training essential. Walks well generally, but will pull and bark when prey-driven or when he sees other dogs. Training and management must be ongoing and realistic.Albie is a 2-year-old black and tan Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a big personality, a huge love of life, and a real enthusiasm for the world around him.He has grown up living with other dogs and thrives on canine companionship, so Albie will need to live with at least one other friendly dog in his forever home. He gains confidence and reassurance from having another dog around and would not be happy as an only dog.Albie is a very social boy. He is excellent when meeting new people. He does bark at other dogs, so he needs further training. He travels well in the car, and is fantastic at the vets. He has also lived happily with older children and enjoys being part of a busy, engaged household. One of the most important things to understand about Albie is his very strong prey drive. He is highly stimulated by movement, particularly birds, squirrels, cats, and other small animals, and when triggered, he can become suddenly very strong on the lead, pulling hard and barking. This is not aggression but rather instinct and excitement, and it means that Albie needs to be handled by someone who is physically able and confident.Because of this prey drive, Albie is not suitable for a home with cats or small animals, and a very secure garden is essential. He will attempt to chase prey if he sees it, and cannot be trusted in unsecured outdoor spaces. While Albie will continue to benefit from training, it’s important to be realistic; off-lead freedom may not always be appropriate for him, and careful management using secure areas and long lines will be required.Albie is a young, energetic dog who needs at least two good walks every day. Regular exercise is essential for his physical and mental well-being and makes a significant difference to his sense of stability and responsiveness. He generally walks nicely on the lead, but ongoing training around distractions will need to continue as part of his routine. At home, Albie loves company and will need someone around for most of the day. He can be left for short periods only, ideally after exercise when he is ready to rest, but would not cope with being left for long hours on a regular basis. From a health perspective, Albie has Chiari-like malformation (CM). He arrived in rescue in significant pain, but with appropriate medication, he is now comfortable and doing very well. This is a lifelong, managed condition, and medication compliance is essential; it is not optional or “as needed”. His current medication costs approximately £40 per month, and as CM is a pre-existing condition, adopters must be financially prepared to self-fund ongoing care for life. His medication may need adjustment over time as his needs change.Albie is currently heart clear. He previously underwent surgery to remove retained testicles (cryptorchidism) and has fully recovered. He also had an anal gland abscess while in rescue, which has resolved.Albie will thrive in an active, capable home with realistic expectations, another dog for company, and adopters who are committed to training, management, and long-term care. In the right environment, he is a bright, affectionate, and engaging young Cavalier who has a huge amount to offer.Type of home required: An active, capable home with at least one other friendly dog for company. A very secure garden is essential due to Albie’s strong prey drive and escape risk. Adopters must be physically able to safely manage a strong dog on the lead. Off-lead freedom may not always be appropriate and secure areas or long lines will be required.Important Notes Albie’s Chiari-like malformation is a pre-existing condition; adopters must be financially prepared to self-fund ongoing CM care for life. Medication compliance is essential and not optional or “as needed”. Home check and meet & greet required within 7–10 days of applying. MEET BRUNO Spaniel Mix Small/medium2 years old Children over 8 years old Bouncy Bruno is a brilliant little man with boundless energy and a love for bouncy balls! He’s clean in the home and doesn’t shred or chew furniture, but he’ll appreciate having plenty of toys to keep himself entertained. Bruno is lead trained but can be a bit strong when excited—further training will help improve this. He also knows basic commands like ‘sit’ and ‘paw,’ and being such a clever boy, he’ll pick up new commands quickly. With his high energy and intelligence, Bruno will need plenty of both physical and mental stimulation. We believe he’d thrive in agility training, but he’s just as happy chasing a ball! Bruno has lived with other dogs and enjoys their company. He’d be happy to live with another dog of similar energy, as he can be quite enthusiastic in play. Super loving and affectionate, Bruno just wants to snuggle on a cosy sofa. He’d make the perfect addition to an active family who can give him the exercise and love he deserves.

Calvin

BreedCavalier King Charles Spaniel

CALVIN, we will be brutally honest, is a medium mixed breed of unknown quantities, but is 100% gorgeous! He is in foster in Chippenham, Wiltshire. He was one of 80 dogs rescued from a Spanish perrera that was closing with no options for it’s occupants, other than to be put to sleep. He’d been in the perrera for quite a while with no bedding, decent food or any human interaction, so for him to arrive into a UK foster home and settle so well is a great indicator to his temperament. Words from his foster mum, “Calvin is a really lovely boy. He loves to have belly rubs and will roll over to ask for one. He’s very sweet”. He has been living with a resident dog, teenagers and chickens in the garden (although I believe there was an incident whereby he carried said chicken to a new location!). He can get anxious around other dogs when out on a walk and this will need further work with a calm and relaxed adopter, who will introduce him to good experiences when meeting new dogs. We would love to see him in a home with another calm, maybe older dog, so he can learn from their reactions to new situations. CALVIN is housetrained and has been left for a couple of hours with no incident, he just settles on his bed and sleeps. Happy to eat, share toys and chews with the resident dog and instantly friendly when meeting new people. He is microchipped, vaccinated, castrated and parasite treated and has a Spanish Passport.

05-03-26 Candy has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is feeling a little worried at the moment, but she is such a sweet little girl who is trying very hard to be brave. She isn’t quite confident enough to approach us on her own just yet, but when we approach her she is happy to be handled and accepts a gentle fuss. It’s clear that Candy has a kind and gentle nature, and with plenty of love and patience she will soon begin to blossom. She would love a calm and quiet home where she can settle in at her own pace and build her confidence slowly. We would consider homing her with sensible, dog-savvy teenagers who can understand that she will need time and kindness as she adjusts.Candy relies heavily on other dogs for comfort and reassurance, so she will need another kind and confident resident dog in her new home to guide her and help her feel safe. Having a steady canine friend by her side will make all the difference as she learns about the world around her.She has never lived in a home before, so she will need help learning all about home life. This will include house training, learning to walk on a lead and getting used to everyday household routines and noises. With TLC and a supportive family, we truly believe Candy will grow into a loving and devoted companion. She has a slightly undershot jaw and has arrived with superficial wounds on both ear flaps, which are being treated.Candy has a travel document.Candy has been given the Gift of Life by Jackie Harvey & Katerina Loopstra

Frenchie the lurcher has sadly been returned to us at the centre. Unfortunately, sometimes placements don’t work out. She was very loved and had a lovely time with her family, but it simply wasn’t meant to be.Frenchie is approximately 3 years old and is still a shy girl at heart. She may take a few minutes to warm up to new people, but once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate personality begins to shine through. She lacks confidence in the outside world and will need a calm, patient home that can help her build this slowly and at her own pace. When Frenchie first came into our care, she was kennelled alongside a spaniel and coped well with shared space. She has also spent time in a quiet foster home, where she proved herself to be the perfect house guest — settled, gentle, and respectful in a home environment. As a lurcher (sighthound), Frenchie naturally has a prey drive. Her new owners will need to understand her breed traits and help channel her instincts in positive ways, such as structured games or dog sports like agility or similar activities. This will allow her to use both her brain and her body — chasing her dreams around the course as she was born to do.Frenchie is an incredibly loyal and loving girl. Once bonded, she will happily follow you around the house to make sure she isn’t missing out on any daily activities — whether that’s working from home or keeping a close eye on the snack cupboard. She would love a secure garden where she can enjoy zoomies and then relax in the sun with her family. Frenchie would also greatly benefit from access to a large, secure enclosed dog field once or twice a week, giving her the chance to stretch her long legs, run off steam, and enjoy a proper sighthound sprint.Frenchie can be strong on the lead, but with consistent training classes and owners willing to learn alongside her, she will continue to improve and settle into her routines. All introductions will take place at the centre, and we would be happy to introduce her to any resident dogs, who could offer companionship and play once suitable matches are confirmed.Frenchie is a sensitive, loyal soul who just needs the right home to help her feel safe, confident, and truly settled.Rolling in to her new life with easeMaking eye contact to get belly rubsNot going anywhere, gona lay here all dayFinding the best sniffsIf you have a quiet home, a kind heart, and space on your sofa, Frenchie could be your perfect match.Local celebrity at the pub on my own chairChecking out the local wildlifeCardiff Dogs HomeWestpoint Industrial EstatePenarth RoadCardiffCF11 8JQWe work in partnership with:Support us by making a donation or by donating food and other items. All donations are very gratefully received.© Cardiff Dogs Home 2024 - Website designed by Cardiff Council Web Team
