Are you right for Alfie?Eight-year-old Alfie is a handsome Collie with a gentle, calm character and a lot of love to give. He’s hopeful to find patient adopters, who will give him the time he needs to settle into his new routine and allow him to show his fun, confident side. Alfie is a real ‘foodie’ and highly values his mealtimes and chews. He appreciates space around his food and feels more comfortable when he can enjoy mealtimes without interruption. Alfie has worked closely with the team around feeding times and loves to show off his skills. He will do best with a family who are happy to continue this in the home. Alfie loves walking with doggy friends but is looking to be the only dog in his new home, and is looking for an adult only home. He would also really benefit from a garden of his own.Is Alfie right for you?Alfie thrives with a gentle, understanding approach to handling and care. He builds strong bonds with his people, and becomes increasingly affectionate as that connection grows. Once Alfie is settled at home, his playful side will begin to shine, and he’ll enjoy interacting with you over a game of fetch or tug. His favourite pastimes include relaxing on his own with a chew, sniffy walks in rural areas, paddling in the water, playtime in the garden, and spending quality time with his most-loved people. Alfie is a very clever boy and he knows multiple toys by name! Please note: If you already have an open adoption application and are interested in knowing if Alfie is a match, please let us know you are interested in him by emailing us on shoreham.rehoming@dogstrust.org.uk.

Hello, I’m Bayley!I’m a 5 year old neutered Collie Cross, and I’ve had quite the journey. I originally came to the rescue because my humans weren't feeling well enough to look after me. I've spent a very short time in two further homes, but I got worried around new people and did growl and snap.I can be a bit unsure when meeting strangers, so I’ll need someone patient who can let me come to them in my own time but once I'm confident you're not a threat i will be your best friend. I do best in a calm home without lots of visitors or young children, where I can feel safe and relaxed. The good news? I’m housetrained, I know some basic commands, I love playing with toys, I travel well, and I sleep peacefully through the night. I tend to avoid other dogs, though I might react if they react to me first, and I’m a little nervous around traffic and loud noises — so slow and steady wins the day with me!If you’re willing to give me time, patience, and lots of gentle reassurance, I’d love to show you what a loyal and loving companion I can be. I might need you to visit me more than once so I can really get to know you before you take me home.

Belle is a collie sized crossbreed aged around three years old. Passed cat testing. Needs resident dog. Respectful children 12 plus. Belle has come into our care recently from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. She is the sweetest girl with the most soulful eyes. In the shelter she was terrified and hid up but in her UK foster home she is much more confident and plays with the other dogs. She is a gentle natured girl who will need another dog as full time resident in her forever home. She is still a little shy with new people but gaining confidence daily. She is fine with the safe rescue cat and could live with respectful children aged twelve plus. She is every kind of beautiful.Belle fostered Norwich Norfolk.Adoption Donation Fees are Puppies already neutered and all adult dogs: £430. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate. Fences and gates must be 5foot minimum in height and secure.

Collie (Smooth coat) crossbreed Black 3 Years (approx) Ref: DT011 Meet Benji, a bright, energetic young dog looking for the right home to help him truly thrive. Benji is full of life and enthusiasm and loves to be on the go, so he is searching for an active home that can provide plenty of exercise as well as mental stimulation to keep his clever mind busy. He absolutely loves treats, which makes him a great candidate for positive, rewardbased training. He already knows how to sit and some other commands, and he will enjoy continuing to learn with the right guidance. He would really benefit from an owner who has experience with similar breeds, or someone confident and committed to continuing his training journey. While out and about, Benji can feel unsure around other dogs. With the right guidance, patience, and ongoing training, he has great potential to build his confidence in these situations. He will need someone who can calmly support him and help him learn that the world is not such a worrying place. Due to his high prey drive, Benji is not suited to a home with cats or small animals. Benji is looking for an adultonly home, or one with secondary schoolaged children who can understand and respect his needs and boundaries. As he settles into a new environment, Benji may need a little time and patience to adjust. He is still a young boy at heart and can sometimes forget his size and strength when he gets excited. With positive guidance, he will benefit from learning how to channel his energy into appropriate toys and games. Benji will also need continued muzzle training at home to help him feel safe and secure. Full support and guidance will be provided for this. With the right person by his side, Benji has so much potential to grow into a loyal, fun, and rewarding companion. I know how to sit (and lots of other commands too!) I could live with children of secondary school age I can be left alone for short periods I need help learning to like other dogs I'd prefer not to live with a cat I'm always on the go I love food and treats DOG Collie (Smooth coat) crossbreed Black 3 Years (approx) Ref: DT011

Bess is a seven year old medium sized crossbreed (looks similar to a collie) looking for an active home. Sadly her owner passed away and she’s not getting on with one of the other dogs she’s now living with. She is great with children 2 upwards and we would happily rehome her with children of that age. She is a no to cats/small furries and initially at least would be better suited as an only dog. Meets can be in Alcester or South Yorkshire

Background –Bessie joined us from the pound with her mother, Bramble. Little is known about their history.Character –Bessie is a real cutie. She’s enthusiastic about meeting new people, loves her mental enrichment games, and playing games of chase with her pooch pals. Bessie enjoys her human company and will happy chill out with you through down time. She travels well in the car and has enjoyed all the new adventures she’s been on in the short amount of time she’s been with us.Type of home –It would be perfect if Bessie could find a home that wants to adopt her with her mother Bramble but this isn’t a requirement for her new home. Bessie would like somewhere where someone is around most of the time as she very much enjoys her human company, and may become more reliant on this in her settling in period. She can live with other dogs subject to successful introductions. Bessie is happy getting involved in all sorts of activities so we think she’s going to enjoy being part of an active household that wants her to join in the fun.Bessie is currently in Bristol and potential adopters will need to visit her here.If you would like to adopt Bramble and Bessie as a pair, they will appear on the drop down menu as ‘Bramble and Bessie’, a new adoption fee for the pair will be discussed with interested adoptersOur catchment area for rehoming is Somerset and the local surrounding areas (such as Bristol, Bath, Weston Super Mare and Wiltshire).

Meet Bluey who is a handsome 3-year-old Collie who sadly came into our care as an unclaimed stray after being abandoned. Despite this, he has all the wonderful traits the breed is known for-he’s loyal, intelligent, observant and always eager to please. Bluey is a lovely boy who forms strong bonds and will make someone a truly devoted companion. He is excellent with other dogs and already has some very basic training in place, but he will need an owner who understands the breed and is committed to continuing his training and keeping his clever mind occupied. With the right guidance and plenty of love, Bluey has all the makings of a first-class companion and deserves a home where he’ll never be let down again.
