4 year old Dili is extraordinary, in more ways than one. First, she is super friendly with everyone and everything despite all she has been through. Second, she is an escape artist who sadly has to be on a chain because she is always digging her way out of the shelter Third, and most remarkably, Dili has saved tens of lives by donating her blood to other shelter dogs when they need it post-surgery or injury. It is tragic that this selfless girl lives such a restricted life. Please return the love she so generously gives and offer her a home.

I am a resident at Hull Animal Welfare Trust and I have been a resident here for quite some time now.I don’t mind it too much here at the kennels, but it can be quite noisy with the other dogs barking and a lot of comings and goings all day so it would be nice to find a quiter place where I can spend the rest of my days.I had a bad experience beofre coming to Hull Animal Welfare, I was abandoned by my owner in a flat and the anxiety of not knowing when someone was coming back for me was very upsetting. Because of this I don’t like being left alone anymore and would need someone very calm and patient that can understand my worries and work with me to start feeling better.I love having freedom and being out and about on walks and keeping busy and i loooovve sniffing!!The ‘humans’ at Hull Animal Welfare have been very kind and have been helping me to learn to relax more and be calm.

Status: Reserved.RESERVEDWooof! I'm Holly. I'm a pretty girl looking for a very active home full of fun and adventures!Holly's Notes:Holly is such a beautiful girl who came into us as a stray, she is now looking for her new forever home which we can’t wait for her to find as she is wasted in kennels!Holly is a lovely girl who has lots of love to give! She is affectionate and cuddly with people she knows but can be initially quite timid, she is easily won round with treats! She can be timid of new environments but does tend to look to her handler for guidance. However, once she settles she really enjoys being out and about on adventures or running around our secure off lead areas here at the rescue! She can be a bit strong when she wants to be but walks really well on a gen-con. Her recall is quite hit and miss, typical of her breed! But she is very food motivated which definitely helps with training.Since she has been with us she has met a large variety of different dogs and has been fantastic with them, she walks well with them and has also showed great social skills when off lead with them too. She has the potential to live with a compatible dog as long as the introductions go well here at the rescue. Being a hound Holly would not be suitable to live with cats or other small furries.Due to her coming into us as a stray, we don’t have any background history on her but she has been in two foster homes. In the first home she was quite timid to start with and then did have one incident where she was very growly and defensive with one of the handlers. We have not seen this behaviour at the rescue or in the second foster home, so we think this was a inidividual event due to new environments. In her second home, she was rehomed with two smaller, older dogs which unfortunately she was too bouncy for them. She was very well behaved, good in the home and generally a good girl with the other dogs. We can explain her more to anyone interested.Overall she is an amazing girl who is a firm favourite here at NCAR and we hope a suitable home comes along for her soon.can live with other dogsfriendly with dogsfriendly with strangersisn't toilet trained

BreedNorwegian Elkhound

River originally came into our care in 2020 from a breeder and was adopted into a loving home. Sadly, her family later found they were unable to continue meeting her needs, and River has now returned to us.River is a highly intelligent, affectionate girl who forms very strong bonds with her people. According to her previous home, once she feels safe she is extremely loving, enjoys close contact and seeks reassurance from those she trusts. She loves cuddles, gentle scratches, and being near her humans, and is very in tune with their emotions, often offering comfort when someone is feeling down.River is a clever and enthusiastic learner who already knows a wide range of cues and enjoys training, enrichment and mental stimulation. She loves her toys, especially balls and tug toys, enjoys scent games such as “find it”, and is very food-motivated, peanut butter is her absolute favourite! She settles well at home, enjoys routine and structure, and is clean and non-destructive.River enjoys her walks and would suit an active home with access to quieter walking routes. She walks nicely on a halti and enjoys being out and about, but can find busy environments overwhelming and may be reactive to dogs, vans or motorbikes when anxious. She will need confident handling and continued training, and should remain on lead unless in a secure area.Although affectionate and loving, River is a sensitive dog and can struggle with unfamiliar people, visitors and loud or sudden noises such as fireworks. When frightened she may bark or retreat. For this reason, River is looking for a calm, quiet, adult-only home with very few visitors, ideally in a rural or semi-rural setting. Her adopters must be experienced with reactive dogs, patient, and willing to work at her pace while respecting her boundaries. We are advised that River can occasionally display guarding behaviours towards her trusted humans, such as growling if another person enters the room while she is settled. This will need calm, confident and experienced management.River is currently looking for a home as an only dog, although she has previously lived with another small dog and may be able to live with a calm companion following careful introductions.River may not be suited to everyone, but for the right home she will be an incredibly loyal, affectionate and rewarding companion who has so much love to give.A bit about River from her previous home:River NeedsRiver LovesRiver’s NicknamesQuiver, Trevor, Clever Trevor, Trev, Piggy, Pig, Squirrel, Egg Nog Dog
