Flame is a lovely lad who came to the centre via an inspector after he was found living in squalid conditions along with many other dogs. Due to his past being very restricted, it has left him unsure when to adapting to new situations and surroundings. He is a very sweet natured boy who is learning that there is a whole world out there for him to explore, he is beginning to understand that life can be fun and exciting but it all has to be done at his own pace.Flame is doing exceptionally well since arriving at the centre, he is still a little underweight but doing great. He is slowly getting used to the outside world and is really enjoying going out on his walks. He is nervous of busy roads and loud traffic but is starting to realise it is not that scary. Adopters will need to understand his anxieties and continue with his slow introductions to the world outside. He is very shy and nervous when meeting new people so introductions must be taken at his pace. Once Flame has settled and got to know you, he is such a sweet heart, he really loves attention and getting snuggles. He is a very gentle and calm natured boy who will do well in a calmer quieter home. He will need someone who at home most of the time as he has never been in a home before.Flame is sociable with just about all dogs he has met, he can either be adopted on his own or with another dog. He is much more confident and relaxed when he is with another dog. He will need an adult only home. Adopters will need to meet with the centre's behaviourist before adoption to help with his transition in to a home.

Solomon, a 6 months old male Whippet X Shetland Sheepdog available for adoption from Safe Rescue For Dogs in Norfolk

Safe Rescue For Dogs

Solomon

Norfolk
SexMale
Age6 months
BreedWhippet X Shetland Sheepdog

Solomon is a smallish whippet/sheltie type crossbreed aged around five years old. Solomon was brought to the UK from Romania as a puppy by a private adopter who then couldn’t cope with him so we were asked to step in. He was rehabilitated and adopted back in 2020 but has recently been returned to our care due to a change in domestic circumstances. Solomon is quite whippety/sheltie like in behaviour as well as looks. He is a bit of a worrier and tense around new people but very loving to his family. In a pack he is very playful but a little bossy with smaller dogs so would like a home with a dog either his own size or larger. He will need an adult only family. Solomon loves his walks and getting out and about but will need a confident and experienced adopter.Solomon fostered Norwich Norfolk.Adoption Donation Fees From 1st Dec 2025 are Puppies already neutered and all adult dogs: £430. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period.Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm.Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer.Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs.Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate.Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless the dog is too young to be neutered).
