Beautiful boy Cyclops is named (because of his stunning half mask) after the giant-shepherd in Greek mythology.Unlike his mythological namesake, Cyclops is fully sighted and does not eat humans! He is simply a glorious boy who has suffered too much and deserves a forever home.Cyclops was found wandering the Greek roads in a dreadful state of neglect; underweight and suffering from heartworm. The wonderful man who saved him man nursed him back to health. His heartworm has now been successfully treated and Cyclops is a healthy, happy giant, looking for the love of a family. Around 3-4 years old , Cyclops is currently living 60 miles from Athens but is ready to travel to the UK and is very friendly to people and other dogs. As we don't have a child history, sadly we cannot home him with with children under 14 yrs.Cyclops would be perfectly suited to an outdoor lifestyle and needs large-breed experienced adopters.

Wooof! I'm Georgie and I'm looking for a new home please. Could it be with you?Georgie's Notes:Georgie is a gorgeous girl who has come into our care for rehoming due to a change of circumstances for her owner. She is a big girl who has weighed in at around 45kg and is at a good weight currently. She is in good health for her age and loves being out and about on walks, but does tire quite quickly. We are building up her fitness gradually, but she will benefit from a couple of short-medium length walks a day rather than one big long one. She does have playful moments and can still be active at times.Georgie has been in the same home for four years since they bought her from another family. She is generally well behaved in the home, we have been told that she isn’t destructive and is fine to be left for a few hours, she is used to going to the groomers and travels well in the car. She does require at least 6ft fencing, due to trying to escape on occasions in her previous homes.Georgie loves her food, being out and about but also likes to chill and sleeps a lot these days. She is generally good around other dogs and has lived with two Bulldogs previously (one male, one female) so does have potential to be rehomed with a compatible dog in her next home – a medium to large calm dog will suit her best, due to her age we feel she would struggle with a young playful dog in the home. She will also thrive as the only pet and being the centre of attention. She is looking for a home with older teenagers.Georgie is a clever girl knows commands like sit, paw, lie down, roll over and knows some hand signals. She is looking for a quiet adult only home with owners who have experience of large breeds. She generally walks well on the lead but due to her size she can be strong when she wants to be, her previous owners have used a Dogmatic headcollar on her to help manage her strength if/when needed. She does have some age-related deafness and has had ear infections in the past, but at the moment she is in good general health but cannot be spayed due to prior complications under anaesthetic – we can talk to potential owners more about this and they will be able to speak to our veterinary team.Although she is only nearly 9 years old this is quite old for a dog of her breed and size, so new owners should bare this in mind. We really hope this doesn’t put people off as she deserves some love and comfort in her remaining years. We really hope she finds a lovely home soon.friendly with strangersgood on the leadcan’t live with catscan't live with young children

Stanley, a 5 years old male St Bernard available for adoption from Ark Animal Rescue in Lincolnshire

BreedSt Bernard

I am a male St Bernard, am 5 years old as I was born on 06/09/20 and am a very large tri-coloured dog.I’ve been neutered and I’m up to date with my vaccinations. I had to have a dental after my admission to the Ark am now fit and well and I eat sensitive dry food as I have a tendency to have an upset tummy on normal food.I first came into the Ark in August last year with two doggy friends due to the sad death of our owner. I was rehomed but have sadly had to be returned as I’d snapped twice at the other dog in the family and I also nipped the dog walker for no known reason, causung a scratch wound and briusing.I can be a bit stand-offish at first and will bark at new people but, once used to them, am a big softie and like to get on the sofa for a cuddle. I’ve not lived with children but have mixed with a visiting grandson in my recent home and was good with him. I’ve lived with other dogs in the past without any problems. I don’t like cats and seemed not to get on well with the other dog in my recent home.I came in with two tiny, elderly canine companions. One has sadly passed away and the other has been rehomed. I hadn’t shown any aggression when I first arrived at the Ark, just caution was advised when meeting new people so my nipping the dogwalker seems to be a first with no clues why I did it. I’ve not been any trouble at the Ark. I’m good around food and at the vets and I was groomed without problems by my owner’s sister. I’m house-trained, hadn’t been left more than 1-2 hours so it’s not known how long I am happy to be left. I shared a bed with my owner and travel well in the car. I’d not had much experience on the lead as I spent my days in the house or garden, but the dog walkers worked on training me and, since being rehomed, I’ve been out on the lead, but not off lead. I need a child and cat-free home and the Ark now advises I go as an only dogStanley is a lovely gentle giant. He’s shy to start with but, once he gets to know you, he loves to lean on you for a cuddle. He does take time to get to know people but once he does he gives super face washes! He gets along with all staff and volunteers he’s met at the Ark except for one male dog walker and for some reason he’s wary of him. He also loves to play and act like a puppy from time to time but doesn’t always realise how big he is! He’s a good boy at being groomed, bathed, blow-dried and having his nails clipped. He’s very well behaved at the vets and travels well too. He dribbles a lot and wears a bib but this does mean that his kisses are slobbery! He eats Burgess sensitive kibble. He’s gentle on the lead and mostly walks nicely by your side, but will pull sometimes but not continuously. We’ve noticed he’s very nosy and loves to see what’s going on around him. Stanley really is the Ark’s BFG in dog form and would make a great new family member as he has so much love to give. His silly moments and comical personality will give his new family lots to smile and laugh about. He should go to somebody familiar with the breed, or at least experienced with very large breeds. Two staff members took Stanley to the home of one of them for a lovely grooming session.
