About Almost Home

Almost Home North Wales is a small, passionate dog rescue based in North Wales, dedicated to giving abandoned dogs a safe haven and the chance to live “the good life.” The charity rescues and rehomes dogs with their welfare always at the centre, prioritising local pound dogs and urgent social cases, while carefully matching each dog to the most suitable home. Alongside rehoming, the rescue is strongly committed to education—supporting responsible ownership, raising awareness of cruelty and exploitation, and helping young people understand and respect dogs. Supported by qualified behaviour specialists and experienced volunteers, the charity offers lifetime support to adopters and fosterers. Guided by compassion and advocacy, it actively campaigns against puppy farming, online dog sales, and practices that cause unnecessary suffering to dogs.

Everyone meet our next poundie … Potato! This lad was a stray and no one came forward to claim him. He was mircochipped so we know his date of birth is 7.11.25, making him 4.5 months old and in the pound!Thankfully we had an urgent foster who could squeeze him in. This lad has been nothing but ace since arriving in our care!️Potato has taken everything in his stride, said hello to everyone and everything. Played, cuddled, eaten and slept just as pups should.️He has passed a full healthcheck, started his vaccinations, been flead and wormed. This lad was mircochipped and will be neutered when the time is right. ️Currently he’s in foster with another dog and doing great. He’s also socialised with other dogs and been amazing. He loves humans of all ages too! This boy is learning basic commands and picks up training quickly. He’s good in the car and loves having visitors. Potato will be a fab addition to any home!He is going to be a 10 year plus commitment, pups are hard work and they grow up.
