She is 9 yrs old and just GORGEOUS!!!She is fabulous with all dogs but not over interested in them, so whilst she would happily share with another calm dog, she would also (we think) be happy as an only dog. She is calm, gentle, a little reserved and clearly confused but is kennel sharing with a young and boisterous lurcher without seeming to worry and allowing bed sharing. At 9 yrs old although she will love a sofa, she still looks for plenty of exercise.Arundawn Dog Rescue rehome all over the UKCopyright © 2022 Arundawn Dog Rescue - All Rights Reserved.

Breed - Border CollieGender - FemaleDate of Birth - August 2021Can live with dogs? Can live with cats? Unable to testCan live with children? NoLocation - West SussexWe’ve been trying to find a suitable home for Fern for a while now behind the scenes! We’re not taking owner hand-ins routinely but were asked to make a special exception a while back. She is currently still with her owner but time is running out for Fern so here’s our last ditch attempt!!Fern has a very high herding drive, which we think would be perfect for working on a farm or life in a rural home. She is generally well trained, biddable and responds well to hand signals. She has great recall, and is also good around other animals, including livestock. However while Fern is a loving (and fairly quiet) dog at home, her strong collie traits have led to some problematic behaviour on walks (i.e. nipping when trying to control movement). Her behavioural problems occur mostly when she is on a lead by traffic or with people directly walking towards her (eg on a footpath), her behaviour can be managed if kept away from traffic and at a good distance from other people, however where that’s not possible she is muzzled.

Over 12+ yearsLocation - West SussexHARLEYHarley is 11yrs and 3 months old! She was sadly dumped on her 11th birthday!!!! She has been in foster for us since then whilst assessing her needs. We have no idea of her previous life but feel she probably lived outdoors - maybe on a farm or similar.- She is still very active indeed.- She is good living with the two fosterers dogs after slow intro but she can be reactive to some dogs whilst out walking. There does not seem to be a pattern to which ones. We feel she may well be better suited as an only dog.- She is good with children of 12 and over but not tested with younger ones at this time.- She is strong on the lead on occasion but is learning and responsive and can walk well until she spies other dogs- She has improved beyond all measure whilst in foster but will still ideally need a rural home.- Whilst her 'humans' are about she likes to be with them.- She is absolutely fine left. She is non destructive and just sleeps. Her fosterer has had to leave her for a few hours a couple of times, and she's been fine.- She now waits for food and sits without being told verbally. She waits for the stop hand to the go signal, and the fosterer verbally say go / good girl.- She waits at threshold of door but needs reminding at times as she gets excited.Harley really does need that special home who can either continue to work with her manners out and about or offer a life where she does not find the outside environment too much.We are now needing a home urgently as her foster mum is no longer able to continue caring for her due to ill health.

Permanent Shelter Dog Joey arrived at Arundawn from a pound in the North on the 7th of February 2016. He was born in March 2015 and for the first 9 months of his life, had a very difficult time.Joey and his siblings were born into ‘rescue’ in Scotland. After a catastrophic start to their lives they were supposedly hand reared, separated, placed into foster homes, rehomed and in Joey’s case ended up in a pound kennels in the north of England not once, but twice all before he was 8 months old. Sadly, by this time two of his siblings had already lost their lives as a result of the damage caused during their early months. Joey was no exception and had also suffered badly. He had no manners, no social skills and was on the cusp of going ‘badly wrong’. He was scared of everything and didn't even know how to play with toys. We realised he would be a long-term project. Slowly but surely Joey has turned many corners in his young life. He has become a fulltime member of the Sanctuary pack and has developed into the mainstay of the doggie hierarchy, welcoming new members and tolerating the antics of the younger dogs who are far too rambunctious for our middle aged boy.Joey has been a fantastic example of how time and care can change a dog's life. He has matured into a calm, steady and wonderful boy who thrives in the pack environment. In 2020 we had a bit of a scare with Joey when he contracted tetanus through a cut in his foot and we almost lost him several times during the course of treatment. It was horrific to see our gorgeous boy struggling to breathe and it took him several months to recover. We had to have his infected toe removed to properly get rid of the bacteria - so now we have to be a bit careful about how much running around he does as he does get lame on that leg. Joey will remain a permanent resident of Arundawn and we know he is going to continue with his progress.

She has been in foster with us since September. She is believed to be around 3 years old the vets think and is showing to be a lovely natured dog with no reactivity of any sort to other dogs of either sex.Her coat was badly matted, she had skin problems from neglect, needed a dental and she has entropian in both eyes! She came into season and we had to wait for surgery but yesterday finally the day came ... On better examination under GA it was clear that she needed both her upper and lower lids correcting with an amount of loose skin removed as well. She was under anaesthetic for 3 hours and has come through with flying colours thankfully. She is eating and bright and in a few days will be more comfortable than she has ever been. This is another example of BAD BREEDING and dogs being dumped with very costly medical needs ...
