About Auras Dogs

Aura’s Rescue began after its founders visited Romania and witnessed the suffering of dogs in public shelters, where abuse, neglect, and abandonment were common. Inspired by a local rescuer named Aura, who cared for overlooked and long-stay dogs from her small home shelter, the team committed to helping those considered least likely to be adopted. The rescue focuses particularly on older, traumatised, and fearful dogs who have spent years waiting without hope. By bringing these dogs into foster homes in the UK, Aura’s Rescue provides patient rehabilitation, giving them the chance to adjust, heal, and finally experience safety and love.

Biscuit, a 1 year old male Jack Russell Terrier available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Biscuit

Gloucestershire
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedJack Russell Terrier

Biscuit is as sweet as his name depicts! He is a Jack Russell boy who came to us as part of a group. He has always lived in a pack and finds the company of dogs helps his confidence Biscuit can be shy at first, but soon comes round and wants to be close to you, he is a sweet chap with soulful eyes and so much potential. Sadly he didn’t get out and see much of the world when he was a pup, so a lot of things are still new for him! He would appreciate a family that is gentle and kind and can introduce him to new things at his own pace. However, he is quietly inquisitive and it won’t be long before we see a whole new lot of confidence from this short legged legend. Applications may be popular for this boy, so please allow some extra consideration time when you submit your applications , and add as much detail about what you can offer this lovely boy. Could you be the proud new parents of Biscuit?

Blue, a 2 years old female Crossbreed available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Blue

Gloucestershire
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedCrossbreed

Blue is an active Lurcher who has come to us from the stray kennels – we suspect he has been a pet before as he finds kennels stressful although he does have strong hunting instincts typical of his breed too! Blue is an active boy rather than a lazy Lurcher. He loves to chase a ball and is obsessed! (Great fly ball prospect?!) he can be strong on the lead so needs a capable walking human, however he is food motivated and very trainable Blue is friendly with all humans however we think he is a little too headstrong to go with children and would do better in an adult home experienced with large dogs; he is young and does need someone with time and energy for him, he will reward you with love ! Could you be the proud new parents of Blue? Adoption application form: https://aurasdogs.co.uk/adoption-form/ e rehome to maximum 90 minutes drive from our centre in Gloucestershire

Dolly, a 2 years old female Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Auras Dogs

Dolly

Gloucestershire
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedSoft Coated Wheaten Terrier

DOB: 02/02/24Size: Small.Sex: Neutered Female.Good with other dogs: Solo dog home.Good with children: Adult home.Good with cats: Unknown. Dolly is a funny little scruff ball who has come to us from the stray kennels. Dolly is full of love, fun and cuddles, she is a funny cheeky girl who likes to dance (especially for a treat!) Dolly does need an experienced terrier home that is confident with rescue dogs – she can be very fearful of new men (although can bond over time) and sometimes with new women – she needs a patient and knowledgeable home that will give her the time and space she needs initially to bond with her and gain her trust. Dolly will need several meets with a potential family to establish that bond – she does live with children now, although because she can take time to warm up, we are looking for an adult only home with not a huge amount of comings and going in the home. Dolly loves a walk, loves being outside, and would enjoy a semi active home – she loves to play, and makes her Foster’s laugh everyday with her big personality- she has so much love to give and loves to snuggle up. Dolly does live with another dog and has had dog friends, however she again needs good intros to do this, so we are looking for a solo dog home for her to make her transition as easy as possible. Could you be the proud new parents of Dolly?

Emil, a 2 months old female Siberian Husky available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Auras Dogs

Emil

Gloucestershire
SexFemale
Age2 months
BreedSiberian Husky

Good with dogs: loves other dogs, would love to live with another Emil is a lovely boy who has been with us sometime to undergo some retraining – he has been with an incredible foster family who now believe he is ready to find a perfect forever family! Please see their write up of this gorgeous lad Emil (we call him Milo), came to live with us and our two dogs in November. After two months of caring for him, we can say he is a gorgeous boy who totally deserves a wonderful home. We have had over 40 foster dogs over the last 10 years, and Milo is right up there as one of our favourites. We are in no rush to rehome him, so will be looking for a really great match for him. The perfect match – female owner, large doggy sibling/s, large contained garden, no children, no small furries, patience – he is an overgrown puppy who is still learning his boundaries. Breed – a mix, probably containing husky, but one that makes him incredibly beautiful! His fur is soft and his eyes look like he has had a heavy session with the kohl eye liner! Weight – he is about 30kg, so medium to large size Walks – he is great on walks – once you have got his lead on. He has the impression that he should be chased around the garden and house as part of the walk game. We have been working on this with him, but his new home must ensure that this is persevered with if they want to get out on a walk on time. We don’t let him off lead other than in contained dog fields, as his recall is selective and we live in the country surrounded by sheep. He loves long walks, lots of sniffing and definitely prefers fields to roads (which dog doesn’t). Cats and Furry critters – definitely not! He loves to race after the squirrels in our garden and would likely do the same for cats. Children – he currently needs a home without young children or young visitors. While he has lived with children before, he is too big and bouncy to be with little ones and will steal food and toys from them. People – he loves everyone, but can be reactive to some men. We have no idea why, as we don’t think he has ever been mistreated. He has not bitten – it is all show and noise which is fear based. He has not shown any signs of stress around females that have spent time with him. This behaviour is unusual, but should be mentioned so that his new family are prepared to deal with it and not give up on him if he does this. Behaviour in the House – he is fully house trained, no accidents. He will counter surf, so although he is learning that this is not acceptable, this will have to be reinforced in his new home. He is quick to learn – for example, he no longer tries to get on the couch or jump up to greet people, he just needs reminders and consistency on his remaining teenage behaviours. He can be left on his own for a couple of hours at a time, but don’t leave your favourite shoes in reach, he gets bored and finds toys! He loves to sleep with his doggy siblings in front of the fire. Behaviour in the garden – he loves to play with our dogs – they can get quite rough, but never hurt each other. You wouldn’t want to get knocked over in his playful games though. He is one of the best escape artists we have met, so the garden must be very secure – he can jump 5 foot walls in one bound and is quite happy running over shed roofs to go and meet other doggy friends in neighbouring gardens. Dog siblings – we would recommend that he has a medium/large doggy friend, although he would be OK on his own. Small dogs would find him too enthusiastic. Be prepared for him to try to assert himself as lead dog, although he has settled into second place quite quickly with our pack leader. Training – Milo has almost finished his Bronze training with Happy Hounds. He can sit, offer a paw, wait, leave objects and is learning to be more consistent on recall. We would love his new family to take him through his silver and gold (or even retake bronze, as it is as much for the humans as the dogs). We also think he would love agility training as his energy is high. Ghost – Gsd, a 10 years old female German Shepherd available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Auras Dogs

Ghost – Gsd

Gloucestershire
SexFemale
Age10 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

Ghost is a strikingly beautiful German shepherd boy who came to us from the stray kennels. He was a skinny sad boy who was desperate to be shown love and care again. Ghost has clearly been loved and someone’s friend at some point. How he ended up unwanted and forgotten about in the stray kennels is truly heartbreaking Ghost walks lovely on a lead, however he can be reactive to dogs, so still needs an able bodied handler, and perhaps living somewhere more rural. Ghost travels well in the car, and is a loyal companion. There must have been a time he sat loyally by his human friends side. Why did no one claim him? Ghost would love a quiet retirement home where he can be someone’s faithful companion once more. He is a sweet lad who loves a brush, and would love once more to be doted on. Ghost has had a lump removed from his chin, and otherwise is in good health for his age. Could you be the proud new parents of Ghost?

Hope, a 3 months old female German Shepherd available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Hope

Gloucestershire
SexFemale
Age3 months
BreedGerman Shepherd

Experienced home needed. Preferably rural too Hope is an incredibly special girl, with a life behind her that we will never truly know, but one that has left her with a lot of mental scars Hope came to us from the stray kennels. She was a shut down girl, that wouldn’t let kennel staff near her, her chances of being saved were dwindling, the pound begged us to give her a chance, they know of our soft spot for a shep. Hope came to us with a ligature mark around her neck, indicative or perhaps being on a chain Hope has been with us for several months now, and has been on a journey of confidence building and finding herself again – in kennels she progressed slowly, after weeks of encouragement finally letting us stroke her, take her for walks, and take food from hand. She took so much confidence from the other kennel dogs, and the first time we saw her wag her tail, was when seeing her dog friends Hope eventually improved enough to move to an experienced shepherd savvy foster. She regressed a little at first, again not wanting anyone close to her. Slowly after a few days she started to let her guard down, and sought safety in the resident dog, as she still does now, following her everywhere Hope still has a long way to go confidence wise. She loves her walks and is actually a dream on the lead – she will shy from busy environments so somewhere more rural would suit her better She absolutely needs another dog to lead her, but she may be nervous of them too at first and need her own space to decompress, any process with Hope will need to be with kindness and patience Hope may never become a snuggle bug, but her interaction with humans is increasing daily, even to playing tug of war with her foster mum! So we know she can do it, she just needs time and no pressure We are in no rush to place Hope unless it’s a placement that is really right for her. Must be local to us so we can do multiple meets and support for as long as she needs Could you be the proud new parents of Hope? Jess, a 8 years old female Lurcher available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Jess

Gloucestershire
SexFemale
Age8 years
BreedLurcher

Jess is a Lurcher x girl who is looking for a home that can give her plenty of exercise (don’t be fooled by her age, she loves to zoom after a ball in a secure field and still loves going for walks) and can enjoy lots of snuggles at home Jess currently lives with another dog without incident, however struggles meeting new dogs and should wear a muzzle when out walking. When sensibly introduced to new dogs she has been able to walk calmly with them but this does need careful management Jess has seen our behaviourist and a full report can be given on her – she believes Jess shows so much promise and deserves a chance to find her forever home. We can also offer free training sessions with our trainer if required to help Jess find her perfect home Jess is calm and quiet at home, she loves to nap, have a short play; and then more cuddling. Jess travels okay and is friendly with everyone she meets. Jess came to us as a stray so sadly we do not know her history before coming to us Could you be the proud new parents of Jess Adoption application form: https://aurasdogs.co.uk/adoption-form/ FAQS: https://aurasdogs.co.uk/faqs/ Costs: https://aurasdogs.co.uk/costs/ Adoption donation fee includes Vaccinations Neutering (if of age) Microchip Blood tests (if from abroad) Health check 5 weeks free insurance Lifetimes rescue back up and supportw Please note if adoptions do not work out, we ask that all dogs are returned to our care We rehome to maximum 90 minutes drive from our centre in Gloucestershire

Lando, a 3 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Auras Dogs

Lando

Gloucestershire
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedGreyhound

Lando is a beautiful brindle ex racing greyhound who has come to us after his racing career to find a safe, more laid back life. Greyhounds make wonderful, calm, surprisingly lazy pets, don’t be fooled by their top speed, they don’t like to reach it! In fact to even see them not horizontal is a shock Lando is a cuddly boy who would suit a household that enjoys snuggling up and having a 100mph couch potato companion – he could live as a solo dog or possibly with a companion after successful intros. Greyhounds may be large dogs, but they are very compatible with modern day living, or those at retirement age who don’t fancy long walks in all weathers (forget walks in the rain, these pups won’t be having it!) Greyhounds obviously do have a high prey drive, so do not suit houses with cats or small furries, and aren’t dogs you can let off the lead. Lando travels well, is good at the vet, a gentle easy walker, clean in the house, and an all round excellent pup! Could you be the proud new parents of Lando?

Lily, a 4 years old female German Shepherd available for adoption from Auras Dogs in Gloucestershire

Lily

Gloucestershire
SexFemale
Age4 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

Lily is a stunning German shepherd who came to us after she was very close to being put to sleep. She is a loving and affectionate girl who would benefit from a rural, shepherd savvy home to continue her training and development. She is a real looker and has been well socialised with people Lily has EPI, which is managed with diet, and will need doing so for the rest of her life, full details can be given on this This is what her foster home has to say about her: Lilly Happy to be left alone at home for 3 hrs without any problems Needs more work on reactivity on walks, she is very trainable and understands ‘look’ as a reminder to take her cues from you. Clean in the home, happy to settle on the sofa for cuddles. Has experience of children from 3 but would suggest over 7 because of her size. Definitely a no cats policy. Will play fetch with her tennis ball forever. As she’s a shepherd she will be vocal when someone goes past the window but this is improving with time and patience. Loves going out in the van but is always excited till you’re on the way. Lillys happy place is a secure field with her tennis balls. She sleeps on a rug at the end of the bed. She’s not got a bad bone in her body and has never shown aggression even when you take things off her. Although grooming is not her favourite thing she tolerates it She will bring you ‘gifts’ to swap for treats or attention, usually shoes or the tv remote but she doesn’t chew them. Meeting her dietary needs is essential and she is doing really well now. She would eat anything so keeping her safe from food that is bad for her is important. She has improved now she isn’t hungry all the time but will still steal food if it’s left out. She will allow you to eat in peace if you gently remind her. She’s a lovely girl who deserves an active household to continue her training and keep her mind and body busy. Could you be the proud new parents of Lily?
