About Barnsley Animal Rescue

Barnsley Animal Rescue Charity (BARC) is one of Yorkshire’s largest rescue charities, founded in 1995 at a time when many centres still euthanised healthy animals. Since then, the charity has transformed the lives of thousands of abandoned pets, operating a no-destruction approach in its local area. With kennels, a cattery, and a rabbit sanctuary run by welfare experts, BARC provides both physical and behavioural rehabilitation before rehoming. The team offers lifelong guidance and support to adopters through its commitment known as “Infinity Care,” ensuring every animal and owner receives ongoing help.

Maisie

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age4 years
BreedDutch Shepherd

Sadly after being in her home for 6 months and through no fault of her own, Maisie has been failed by her adoptee and is now back in our care looking for a home again. Prior to her adoption she had spent most of her life in kennels, arriving in our care at just 8 month old. Maisie is a lovely friendly Dutch Shepherd crossbreed and such a sweet loveable girl once she’s gained your trust. This poor girl hadn’t had much socialization which makes her nervous around strangers and unfamiliar surroundings. She will need an understanding, experienced, patient owner as she will need further training, guidance and confidence building. Maisie can not be left for long, she’s an intelligent girl that has so much potential and will make a fantastic loyal companion in the right home. Maisie requires an active but calm quiet home with someone who has a good knowledge and experience owning similar breeds. She’s strong on the lead therefore needs a confident owner who is committed to continuing with her training. Due to her nervous nature, initially we’re looking for a pet free home with no children and with not many visitors would be most suitable as she will need time to adjust to her new home. We know this is a lot to ask however we need to find the right home for Maisie. A full secure garden is required. We accept online donations through PayPal. You don't need to have a PayPal account, just choose to pay using a debit card. Before we can consider you for adoption we need to ensure that you and your new pet are compatable. Pixie, a 7 years old female Lurcher available for adoption from Barnsley Animal Rescue in South Yorkshire

Barnsley Animal Rescue

Pixie

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedLurcher

Pixie is a lovely friendly girl, she’s great with people, can be choosy with other dogs. She needs a strong, confident owner to teach her some doggy manners. She has a lovely temperament, and as much as she loves to play, she also loves to climb on your lap for cuddles. Pixie is used to having someone around most of the day, although can be left for a couple of hours. We think Pixie would settle into the right home as an only dog, providing she receives the stimulation she needs to meet her energy levels. We are looking for someone/a family who would be willing to put some time into her training and enforcing the right rules and boundaries so she can reach her potential and be the cracking dog we know she can be. If you are interested in giving Pixie a home, please fill in the Adoption Form at the bottom of the page Pixie is looking for an active home and where she won’t be left for long. A full secure garden with a fence height of at least 6ft is required as she has the tendency to jump if left to her own devices. No cats or small furry animals and older children if any is required.
