About BARRK

BARRK (Banff & Aberdeenshire Rehoming and Rescue Kennels) was established as a registered charity in May 1996 and has continued to grow in strength for over 28 years. The charity rehomes an average of 120 dogs each year, helping them find safe and loving forever homes. BARRK also operates a fostering service for senior dogs and those with long-term medical conditions who require ongoing care. Working closely with other rescues and the local Dog Warden, the organisation remains committed to supporting vulnerable dogs across Aberdeenshire.

BINGO is a Male Labrador cross7 Months oldHe is vaccinated & micro chipped, not neutered as too young, but any adopter will be eligible for a voucher from barrk to cover 50% of the cost, he is living with a cat, and children, given that Bingo is a very lively, bouncy boy, he is best suited to be in a home with no small children, who he could easily knock over, he is fine on his own for 2 to 3 hours, good in the car, he will need access to a secure garden, he will respond to basic commands, but recall & lead skills need work, he is only 7 months old, he is fine with other dogs he meets when out, but he does have an issue with new people, barking and lunging, in his own home he is fine, with a one-on-one, but in others situations, he is very reactive, his current family have been working on this with a trainer and some progress has been made, but there is still a significant amount of work to be done, ideally a home in a rural location would be best for Bingo, any potential adopter will need to be well versed in dog handling.

BUDDY is a Male Jack Russell Cross3 Years oldHe is micro chipped, not vaccinated but any adopter will be eligible for a voucher to cover 100% of this cost, not neutered but again will be eligible for a voucher to cover 50% of this cost, no experience around cats, he can be selective around certain male dogs, but fine with female dogs, has lived with children in the past, he will need access to a very secure garden as he is a bit of an escape artist, he does not like to be left for long and can get quite vocal, he is fine in the car, he is never walked off lead, will respond to basic commands, when out walking he is in high alert and does pull, he also has a tendency to bark at people walking past him if in the garden, he will need fit & active adopters who know their terriers, as this boy is high energy.

FREDDIE is a Male Beagle6 Years oldHe is vaccinated and microchipped, not neutered but any prospective adopter will be eligible for a voucher from barrk to cover 50% of this cost, no experience of cats, not lived with children and when they do visit, Freddie is extremely food orientated and has been know to snatch food from them, he gets very vocal when out and about around other dogs, this due to him having being attacked in the past by a Labradoodle, he will need access to a secure garden, he’s good in the car, he has poor recall, does respond to basic commands, he is walked with collar & lead, he will pull initially but soon settles, he is your typical Beagle and he will try to eat anything he thinks may be food, he has ingested many items in the past, so any adopter will need to be vigilant of this behavior, Freddie has a skin complaint that requires regular medication, however barrk will be able to offer support for these costs, he is a lovely boy who likes to have company for most of the day, Freddie has had some weight issues, so any adopter will need to manage that.

Sam is a Male Border Collie7 Years oldHe is vaccinated & micro chipped, not neutered but any prospective adopter will be eligible for a voucher to cover 50% of this cost, no experience of cats, not had much interaction around children, will need access to a VERY secure garden, he hasn’t been in a car that often and is a little anxious about it & may be sick, but with some work this could be overcome, he is fine on his own for a couple of hours, he will respond to basic commands, he does pull on lead so some work needed there, he is NEVER walked off lead as he has a keen prey drive and in his current location there is livestock nearby, Sam is very noise sensitive and will bark at things going past the window or garden fence, he has only been in his current home for two years and it has open views which Sam is not coping with, in his previous home he had access to an outside area that was obscured from the road and pedestrians going past, Sam needs a quiet calm home, preferably with adopters who know their collies, he does need some work and there will be behavioral support available.
