About Bath Cats And Dogs Home

Bath Cats & Dogs Home is a long-established animal rehoming centre founded in 1937, caring for around 700 cats and dogs each year. The charity works closely with the public, RSPCA inspectors, police, and dog wardens to support animals across Bath, North East Somerset, and parts of Wiltshire. Alongside reuniting stray pets with their owners, Bath Cats & Dogs Home focuses on carefully matching rescue animals with suitable new homes throughout the South West. Welfare has remained central to the charity’s work for over eight decades, with adoptions managed through an appointment-based process to ensure the best outcomes for both pets and adopters.

Roman, a 5 years old male Lurcher available for adoption from Bath Cats & Dogs Home in Somerset

Bath Cats & Dogs Home

Roman

Somerset
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedLurcher

Roman is a gentle, sensitive boy who came to us as a very frightened stray. He has blossomed on foster and is now ready for a calm, understanding home. He needs a quiet household with a secure garden and must be rehomed with a friendly dog, as he is far more confident when he has a canine companion to guide him. Roman is currently on foster with another female dog and he is very bonded to her. Once settled, Roman is affectionate and loves leaning in for fuss, giving kisses, and happily falling asleep to his fosterer’s singing. He loves to play with other dogs or humans and will bounce around like a puppy! Roman loves to travel in the car so will happily join you on most trips but might find some destinations a little overwhelming initially. Out on walks, Roman moves nicely on lead in quiet areas, enjoys sniffing and responds to cues like “walk on” and “this way.” Given his tendency to bolt when frightened, he should never be let off lead in public - his fosterer uses secure fields regularly for off lead fun and games. Roman is a sweet dog who has made remarkable progress. With a patient family, a calm environment, and a confident resident dog, he will continue to grow in trust and will reward his people with quiet affection and loyal companionship.Roman makes it impossible not to love him. He is a scared little puppy hiding inside a giant body with gangly legs. Despite his tough times that have made him so scared, and so quick to run, he wants to trust and hopes for the best in everyone. When he does trust you, lots of kisses, big tail wags, and a look of love that melts your heart. When he trusts you enough to play, you’ve hit the jackpot, and the puppy inside gets to live his best life! He will roll on his back and do yoga with you, run zoomies in a blur, and be thrilled by a rolling ball or softie to shake. One note of warning, he positively gurns when he is asleep and dreaming big dreams with his safe person, but is then the most handsome, regal, glowing lion - get ready for all the compliments. Roman can be strong on the lead near wildlife but trots nicely at other times. He is marvellous to run with. He wants to be the brave lead dog but does look to, and benefit from the company of a confident dog. Roman has a desire to do well, and a deep need to feel safe, and if he does, he will be the most loyal and loving member of the gang.Roman cannot be rehomed to certain areas in or around Chippenham.
