About Brighter Day Rescue

Brighter Days Rescue is a registered dog rescue charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs from both the UK and abroad. Operating two centres—one in Penkridge with capacity for up to 30 dogs and a smaller specialist site in Lancaster—the charity provides safe, nurturing environments tailored to each dog’s needs, including behavioural support and spacious outdoor areas. Since being founded in 2022, Brighter Days Rescue has successfully rescued and rehomed over 400 dogs, supporting owners in crisis, working with local vets, and helping dogs at risk of unnecessary euthanasia. The charity also partners with trusted rescues in countries such as Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, and Bosnia to give vulnerable dogs a second chance in the UK. Through thorough health checks, careful adopter screening, and responsible rehoming, Brighter Days Rescue remains committed to giving every dog the opportunity for a brighter, happier future.

Barney is really struggling to make progress in the kennel environment, and we’re hoping to find a patient foster home where he can begin to feel safe and build his confidence.Barney has previously lived in a multi-dog foster home and did very well there, but sadly had to return to us due to a change in his fosterer’s circumstances. Because he is such a nervous boy, Barney would benefit from living with one or more confident dogs who can help show him that the world isn’t such a scary place. While Barney can be very timid with new people, he has built relationships with some of our staff and volunteers, which shows that with time and patience he is able to trust and form bonds. The busy kennel environment simply has too many unfamiliar faces for him to feel safe.Barney absolutely loves his food, which is a great way to win him over and help with building positive associations. He has also been going out for walks while in our care and walks nicely on the lead.Barney would need a calm, confident foster carer who understands that progress may take time and is willing to give him the patience and reassurance he needs to truly come out of his shell. While in foster, Barney will remain under our care. This means the charity will cover all of his expenses, including food and veterinary costs.• Rescued from Romania• Microchipped• Fully vaccinated• Not neutered• Able to live with other dogs• No children• Not cat tested
