Brysons Animal Shelter is Gateshead’s only animal shelter rehoming cats, dogs, and small animals, providing care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Supported by a dedicated team of ten staff, the shelter ensures every animal receives the highest standard of care while they await their forever home. Brysons takes a personal, thoughtful approach to rehoming, working closely with adopters to ensure the right match for both animal and owner. Each year, the shelter successfully rehomes over 150 dogs, 200 cats, and many small animals, while offering lifelong support should circumstances ever change. Founded in 1947 by Bill and Marion Bryson, the shelter has grown from a refuge for horses and ponies into a vital sanctuary for animals across the region.

‹› Bella We know very little about Bella’s past but we believe that she may have been kept outside. She has received very little training and we don’t think she will be housetrained. She does have a lovely personality, she is very friendly with people and other dogs. Bella will need time and patience and new owner who will be Wirth her most of the day to help her with her house training.

‹› Casper A very active, friendly boy who will need a new owner who can match his energy. He loves his ball and loves to play. He would thrive doing obedience handsome fun agility so he can put his brain to good use. Casper is good with other dogs on his walks but he will be best as the only dog in his new home. He does love company so his new owner will need to be around for a good portion of the day

‹› Freddie Freddie is a loving boy who does really enjoy a cuddle! He has lots of energy, he loves his walks and he is starting to calm down when he meets other dogs. He has not be socialised so although he is not aggressive, he does need to learn a few manners. Freddie’s new owner will need to be around for most of the day to help him settle. He will need an adult home or a home with older children. Freddie will be most suited to being he only pet in his new home, he definitely could not live with cats.

‹› Hallie Hallie has just retired from racing and she is now needing the comfort of a new home. She is finding the outside world a very scary place, so her new owner will need to have the time and patience to help her adjust to a new environment. Hallie has not reacted to other dogs on her walks and we find that walking with another dog can help her. She is steadily gaining confidence and enjoying meeting new people……….we are very proud of her Hallie is looking for a quiet home.

‹› Hunter Hunter is full of life and energy, he is loving his walks and loves to play with a ball . This is a great way to keep his attention and focus when passing and meeting other dogs as he has not be socialised so he can get over-excited. Hunter is looking for an adult home or a home with older children. His new owner will need to be around for most of the day and be prepared to continue his education. He will be best as the only dog in the home, he could not live with cats.

‹› Kingsley Kingsley is a lovely gentle boy who has settled so well since joining us. he has walked out with several of our other residents and been totally happy in their company. He is looking for a new home where he will have lots of company, he is does love attention and is happiest when he is around people. Kingsley has lived with another dog but there were issues, so this time he would like to be the only pet.

‹› Mindy Mindy has had a very difficult time before joining us so she is naturally quite stressed. A very friendly girl who loves attention, good with other dogs and will be a fun, active companion. Mindy could live with older children……….she is too busy to be around young children. She is strong on lead but we hope as she relaxes, she will settle down. A quiet, patient home is needed for this lovely girl.

‹› Nala Nala is a busy little character who loves human attention. She would like her new owner to be around most of the day so she will have the company she deserves. Nala would like to be the only pet in the household, she likes her own space and isn’t prepared to share the cuddles! She has previously lived with children, she is fine to live with children 10 years plus.

‹› Red Red has hip dysplasia and needs surgery to replace his right hip, the recovery period will be 12-14 weeks. He has now found a lovely foster home and he has settle in perfectly. Red has an appointment at Pennine Vets on November 18th for a consultation with the orthopedic vet, we hope that his surgery will be soon after this date. Red has had his surgery today Monday 1st December, he is spending his night at the vets but hopefully, he will return to his lovely foster parents tomorrow. ‹› Xena A lovely girl who has been very much loved, Xena is only in our care due to a very sad change of circumstances. Xena is a special girl with a happy personality, she loves meeting people, very well mannered around other dogs and as near perfect as it gets! Xena would like a new home where she has lots of company, she has had a difficult time and deserves a new person to help her relax.
