About Carla Lane

Carla Lane Animals in Need is a Liverpool-based rescue founded over 30 years ago by trustees Fran Ellis and Margaret Brady. After humble beginnings, the charity secured its current site—once an abandoned turkey farm—and has since grown into a respected rescue that rehabilitates and rehomes hundreds of dogs and cats each year. Formerly known as Animals in Need, the rescue later received patronage from the late Carla Lane and is a member of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH), meeting high welfare standards. Operating a strict no-destruction policy, the charity vaccinates, microchips, and neuters all animals, rescuing many from pounds at risk after the seven-day stray period and providing sanctuary to others, including ex-battery hens. Passionately anti-BSL and strong advocates for bull breeds, the team works tirelessly to save lives and promote responsible pet ownership.
