About Cinque Ports Rescue

Cinque Ports Rescue is a foster-based dog rescue founded in 2011 in the heart of the Cinque Ports, Kent, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming smaller breed dogs across the South East coast of England. Dogs are cared for exclusively in loving foster homes rather than kennels, allowing them to decompress while the team carefully assesses their individual personalities and needs. Every dog is fully vaccinated, neutered and treated for parasites before adoption. Whether arriving from loving homes, as unclaimed strays or from neglectful situations, each dog is given the care, patience and second chance they deserve.

BreedChihuahua

Rocco came to us following a horrific attack by two dogs which left him with extensive injuries. Thanks to the dedication of our vets, foster team and supporters, he has healed remarkably well both physically and emotionally, and we are so proud of how far this brave little Chihuahua has come. After completing his recovery in our care, little Rocco is finally ready to begin the next chapter of his life and find the special home he truly deserves.5 year old Rocco is an affectionate and characterful little lad who absolutely adores attention from his favourite people. Tummy rubs are his favourite thing in the world and if you dare stop, he will gently tap your hand to remind you to continue. He is very clean in the home, enjoys getting out for a good walk and settles well into a routine. He loves his toys and enjoys throwing them around.Rocco is, however, a complex little dog who needs understanding and experienced handling. He is very good at communicating when he is uncomfortable with a person or situation and he does have guarding tendencies around food, toys and sometimes when sitting with his chosen person. Whilst he currently lives happily alongside the other dogs in his foster home, we feel he would be happiest as an only dog where he can enjoy all of the attention and where his boundaries can be consistently managed.

BreedChihuahua

Spicy is a short-haired Chihuahua of approximately 3 years old who recently completed her 7-day stray hold after eventally being caught after being reported as straying for a prolonged period. Following a full assessment, and haveing had her routine vet work completed, we’re delighted to say she’s now ready to find her forever home.True to her name, Spicy can be a little… well… spicy! She absolutely adores her fosterer and forms strong bonds once she feels safe. However, she does find meeting new people challenging. This behaviour is entirely fear-based, and she needs an experienced and understanding home that will allow her the time and space to settle at her own pace. The good news? It really doesn’t take long for Spicy to learn to trust, especially as she is highly food-motivated and can definitely be won over with tasty treats!

Terry, a Unknown old male Crossbreed available for adoption from Cinque Ports Rescue in Kent

Terry

BreedCrossbreed

Terry hasn’t had the easiest start. This lovely young terrier cross was originally found as a stray, and just when life seemed to be looking up, he suffered an unfortunate playtime accident which resulted in a break near his hip.He underwent a femoral head removal operation, which is a very common and successful procedure, and we’re delighted to say there have been no complications. The only lasting effect is that one of Terry’s back legs is slightly shorter than the other, something that certainly doesn’t stop him enjoying life.To help him regain the muscle he lost during his recovery, Terry has been attending weekly hydrotherapy sessions, funded by the rescue. He has already had his second session, and the progress has been nothing short of amazing. He’s already walking so much better, although he’s still a bit of a lazy lad and occasionally needs a little bribery to get moving!

Theo came into our care after sadly finding himself as an unclaimed stray, but thanks to the dedication of our team, he was able to spend his stray hold safely with us rather than in kennels. He has now been legally signed over into our care, and we are so pleased to be able to help him on the next stage of his journey. At 15 years young, Theo is a wonderful little Shih Tzu with a huge love for life. He adores people, enjoys his treats, and still gets great pleasure from his walks, happily trotting along with gentle determination. Despite some weakness in his legs, which has been confirmed as a neurological issue, Theo doesn’t let it dampen his spirit. He approaches each day with quiet enthusiasm and remains the sweetest, most endearing companion. He is now looking for a calm and loving retirement home where he can enjoy the comfort and companionship he truly deserves. A quieter environment would suit him best, with someone who can offer him time, patience, and plenty of affection. Theo forms lovely bonds with people and would make a devoted companion for the right person.
