Colin

Berkshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedCollie

(18 kg)Handsome young Colin was found as a stray but never reclaimed. He has now come to DBARC to find a loving, permanent home. Colin has been in the care of an experienced animal welfare worker whilst waiting to come to us, and so although we do not know much about his past, we know that he is a friendly dog with people of all ages, although as we do not have a long term history for him, we would not wish to place him with children under 10 years. He is unknown with cats, but is good with other dogs. Colin walks well on the lead, travels well and is a very intelligent dog who will need some further training to help him develop further, to build a bond with his new owner, and to keep his busy collie brain occupied! So dog training classes will be an essential element in owning this gorgeous boy.Colin has a sweet nature and will make a great companion sof someone who enjoys the company of an active and intelligent dog. He would love to learn a dog sport such ad Agility or Flyball , and will certainly need lots of walks - and lots of cuddles! He will need company most of the time ‍

Corrie

Berkshire
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedCollie

(13kg)Cute young Corrie was handed into a dog pound as a stray but was never reclaimed and has now come to DBARC to find a permanent loving home. She is a sweet and very intelligent little girl as well as being a very fun and active dog who will suit someone who enjoys a bright and energetic companion, and would ideally enjoy a dog activity such as Flyball or Agility, or learning lots of fun tricks. As with most collie types, she will need to exercise her brain as well as her body! As we have no long term history for Corrie, we would not wish to place her with children under 10 years. She is unknown with cats or small pets, and although we do not know if she has lived with other dogs, we do know that she has been friendly and playful with dogs in the rescue environment and this will need to be maintained by her adopter allowing careful introduction to safe and well mannered dogs.Corrie would benefit from and greatly enjoy dog training classes and this gives the chance to meet other dogs in a controlled situation as well as a chance for her to learn fun stuff. She will certainly need an interesting and active lifestyle as well, and company most of the time.

Jasper, a 4 years old male Collie available for adoption from DBARC in Berkshire

DBARC

Jasper

Berkshire
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedCollie

is a beautiful dog who was surrendered for rehoming by his former owners along with another dog because they did not have a secure garden and were not able to prevent the dogs from straying. Jasper had been in the same home since he was a young puppy so whilst this must have been a huge change for him, he has such a lovely nature and just likes people, so does not seem traumatised in any way! He is a really special boy, with a calm and loving personality. Jasper is a joy to be around.Jasper has been used to living with children in his previous home, so we would be happy to rehome him with children who are used to dog and old enough to repect their needs and their space. He has not lived with cats. He has been used to living with a nother dog, and is aslso good when meeting new canine pals! Jasper loves his walks and is an easy-going dog who loves as run but is also calm and sensible. He has been used to being with another dog, so will need company most of the time.

Marley, a 1 year old male Collie available for adoption from DBARC in Berkshire

DBARC

Marley

Berkshire
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedCollie

is a lovely affectionate boy but gets very excited about life. He is possessive over toys and food with other dogs but not people. The previous owners took him off an older couple about a month ago with the hopes he could be a yard dog but he is not so good with horses so sadly the home did not work. He sits, lies down, paw etc. is good with other dogs off the lead. He plays nicely, plays with our other dog and other dogs we have met, good with kids, I have nieces and nephews from 2-16 and he is good with all of them. He loves belly scratches and bones to chew.Marley's looking for a home where he will get lots of both mental and physical exercise - he's definitely not a couch potato of a dog! He would excel in a doggie sport such as Agility/Flyball etc. He can be a little possessive over his food and toys with other dogs (not people) so is probably best homed as an only dog. A lovely active boy looking for a lovely, active home.

Milo, a 6 years old male Collie x Labrador available for adoption from DBARC in Berkshire

DBARC

Milo

Berkshire
SexMale
Age6 years
BreedCollie x Labrador

was adopted from us 3 years ago, but has very sadly had to come back to us because the only person in the family able to walk him is ill and unable to do so. Milo has doubled in weight since he left as he has not been having the exercise. He is now on a strict doggie diet and exercise regime to get him back in shape. The family who adopted him say he is a very barky dog and reacts to many things in the home like the TV, birds, doorbell etc. We feel this may be partly due to frustration from not getting the physical and mental exercise he needs and being in a busy home - so his new family will need to understand this and be willing and able to help him. In the home he has been a very loving dog who enjoys cuddles and has been good with children. He is not happy in the kennel environment so we hope he can find a family who will offer him his true forever home very soon.

Polly, a 2 years old female Whippet available for adoption from DBARC in Berkshire

DBARC

Polly

Berkshire
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedWhippet

Polly was found straying along with another similar dog, but they were never reclaimed and it is most likely that they were simply abandoned. Polly is a sensitive dog who is very shy & will need a lot of time & patience to learn people mean her no harm. It is likely that she may have had some less than kind treatment in her past life, but consistent and loving handling will soon build her confidence.Polly is not used to living with cats or small pets, and given her sighthound genes, would be quite likely to chase them She is good with other dogs. Polly has no long term history so we would not wish to place her with children under 10 years.Because she is so shy - we feel she would be best placed in a home with another kind & confident dog to be her mentor Having been unwanted at such an early age does mean that Polly is likely to have missed out on early training, so her adopters will need to be ready to help her catch up, and training classes will be an essential part of that process as well as normal training in the home, socialising with other kind dogs and habituation to the wider world. She is a normal, healthy and active youngster who will need plenty of exercise and company most of the time.

Shep, a 7 years old male Collie available for adoption from DBARC in Berkshire

DBARC

Shep

Berkshire
SexMale
Age7 years
BreedCollie

(20 kg)Shep is a lovely boy who has led a rather sad and loveless life, and then just been given up for rehoming because his owners had lost- interest him, poor guy. Apparently he has not enjoyed any affection or much attention, and basically just hung around the house and garden, enduring a lonely life. Despite this he is a sweet boy who just longs to be loved and to have his own specia someone.Shep has not lived with cats or small pets. He has not lived with children, so we would not wish to place him with youngsters under 10 years. He has been in in a care facility for several weeks waiting for a space at DBARC, and has mixed freely with a large number of other dogs and has been good with all.Shep walks nicely on the lead, but has been largely ignored, which is so sad as he loves his walks. We hope someone is ready to give him all the things he has been missing out on, and company most of the time.

Ziggy, a 6 years old male Collie available for adoption from DBARC in Berkshire

DBARC

Ziggy

Berkshire
SexMale
Age6 years
BreedCollie

has very recently been adopted but has been returned because the adopters found him too big to handle. Please note this boy is a 30kg dog so is strong on the lead and is a big boy! Please only apply if you KNOW your will be able to cope with a large, exuberant dog!Ziggy is a very handsome chap who has come into rescue because his owners are from overseas and have had to return to their home country for employment reasons and could not afford to take Ziggy with them. Unfortunately they left in somewhat of a hurry, leaving Ziggy with a Vet so his history is a little sparse. Since then he has lived with a rescue worker fo over a month and has now come to DBARC to find a permanent home. His rescuer carer has found him to be a lovely dog, with a real character, and very good with the multiple other dogs he has been sharing his temporary home with. He was also good with all the numerous people he met, and is described as a "big friendly fello"!Ziggy is unknown with cats or small pets. He lived in a home with two small children but we do not know their ages so we would not wish to place him with children under 10 years. As stated, he has been good with lots of other dogs.Ziggy walks well on the lead, and is a haopy dog who loves his walks so will need a fit and active owner. He will need company most of the time
