About DCGR

Dumfriesshire & Cumbria Greyhound Rescue is dedicated to finding loving forever homes or foster placements for retired or injured ex-racing greyhounds. The charity never puts a healthy dog to sleep and will continue searching for the right home for as long as it takes. Run entirely by volunteers, all funds are raised through events, donations, and sales from the charity shop. Every penny of income goes directly toward the welfare, care, and support of the greyhounds in their care, ensuring each dog gets the second chance they deserve.

Dan is patiently waiting for his forever home… from the comfort of his foster home. He has settled in so well already and although he has his paws well and truly under the table, what Dan really wants is his own forever home. Could you be the one he’s looking for?Dan is a 4 year old, medium sized boy with a cheeky smile and a gorgeous thick black coat. This confident chap loves to play with toys, will happily chase a ball, loves to go out on his walks and would love to find a forever home with a little garden to show off his zoomies skills. He’s an energetic chap and would love an energetic family too.Dan is currently loving his life in a foster home and has learned so much: he’s spotlessly clean, can zoom up a set of stairs and has been left by himself happily for a couple of hours at a time. He’s delighted to travel in the car, happily sleeps in a crate or a bed and absolutely loves attention, affection and to be the centre of your world.Dan has been a racer and is not suited to living with small furry companions and would be best as the only pet in the house, as Dan would prefer to have all your love to himself.Dan is an affectionate boy and loves a cuddle. He is gentle with older children and delighted to meet people of all ages out and about. He just loves to be with you and be your number one boy.Could you give Dan the forever home he is waiting so patiently for? Cutie Kezza Can’t Wait To Say Hi!This cute bundle of joy is Kezza, a small-medium sized, 2 year-old Brindle beauty who has decided a working career is not for her and she’d quite like to be a professional sofa tester instead! Have you got a sofa space for this little lass?Kezza has now moved to her foster home and is making the most of her new surroundings, absolutely loving sunning herself in the garden, lapping up the cuddles, making herself cosy beds to enjoy her retirement away from kennels. Kezza’s ideal home would have a little outside space where she could watch the world go by from a sunny patch of grass.Kezza is learning so quickly too and at only 2 years old, she is loving all the new expereinces. She is already a professional car traveller, lying down and no bother at all.Toilet training? No problems there either: Kezza has been clean and tidy in the house. She loves her food too and is delighted to try new treats.Plus, she’s shown her affinity with children and is very gentle but playful in the garden. An all round superstar. She does appreciate her own space though, so she would be most suited to older children who are able to give her quiet down-time when she needs it.Kezza is especially delighted to go out on walks, doing adorable little teeth chatters and wiggling in excitement. She also walks beautifully on the lead, no pulling, just joy at taking in all her new surroundings. Which includes meeting other dogs, where Kezza has been polite and friendly. She especially enjoys seeing fellow hounds out and about. Kezza is happy to take it slowly though, she’s in no rush for the walk to be over, but is happy to build up the pace and could suit a less energetic family.Kezza is new to home life so is just building up time spent alone too, but has already shown she can be left for an hour or so without issues although her favourite space is near where you are and she loves company. Kezza is that lovely blend of a sweet, gentle girl who loves her people and a little reassurance in new situations but isn’t needy or demanding. At only 2 years old, Kezza is still taking in all the world has to offer, but so far is a gentle and inquisitive dog, a quick learning and intelligent girl, affectionate without being needy and delighted with her walks and garden.34/36 High StreetLockerbieDG11 2AAMon-Fri: 10:00am-4:00pmSaturday: 10:00am-2:00pmSunday: Closed© DCGR 2026 | All Rights Reserved.
