About Destitute Animals Shelter
The Destitute Animals Shelter is a charitable trust caring for lost, stray and abandoned dogs and cats in Greater Manchester. It was founded in the 1920s by four kind-hearted local residents who offered up a house for caring for the area's cats and dogs, and more than 100 years later the shelter helps, loves and rehomes over 450 animals every year. It has a non-destruction policy and neuters every animal it rehomes, while heated kennels, welfare checks three times a day and diets tailored to each resident help the dogs recover and settle as they wait for their forever homes.
