Gentle boy Ziggy is a large Retriever-cross boy with a black, soft, lush coat. Poor boy has been in Foster since last April, as he was very poorly when he was rescued, but now is in very good health and has come a long way by benefitting being in foster care. He has learnt how to respond very well to commands, and also he is ok with other dogs on his walks, and good on lead. Ziggy is house trained, and he travels well in the car, and can be left home for short periods without any issues. He is a gentle plodder and very affectionate and well behaved. Unfortunately, his foster mum has had an accident and can no longer walk Ziggy, and we really don’t want him to have to return to the shelter. So now, we urgently seek a quiet home with or without other friendly dogs and children over 10 years.Ziggy has sponsorship which makes his adoption fee reducedAffectionate, gentle, inquisitive and puppyish all in one.Ziggy is a special fur baby (aren’t they all!). He has blossomed from being almost a walking skeleton and almost unable to see, to a lively, sweet, affectionate dog who wants to be friends with everybody, human and canine. He has no issues walking past dogs on leads but does not really like loose dogs approaching. He does not really notice cats unless they run. He is a big dog but still has puppy energy and needs a considerate owner who will continue to work with him to build him up, inside and out and assure him the world isn’t a scary place. He has now learnt to walk to heel. He is learning commands such as sit and lay down with the aid of treats. Ziggy knows the “LEAVE” command. He has become used to travelling in the car, but needs reassurance when exiting in particular, as he can get disorientated. Its best Ziggy is fed alone as he can occasionally be protective over his food. Ziggy can be left alone for an hour or two with no evidence of separation anxiety. Ziggy has been aound young children was perfectly behaved even when they tried to ride him!! Well done Ziggy.Living with cats: not formally tested, but has been around catsLiving with children: yes over 10 years oldIn a foster home in Spain can travel in MarchAdoption Fee : – to be paid direct to the Spanish rescue to cover new, excessive, extra EU travel costs, via UK bank accountPROOF OF ID AND LANDLORD PERMISSION IS REQUIREDCan live with other dogsCan live with childrenBefore being adopted, dogs will have been vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas. If old enough they will have been neutered, if too young the new owners will need to ensure this is done. All dogs are microchippedThis adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog including– microchip, pet passport, vaccines, tests for South European diseases, neutering (IF OLD ENOUGH), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.We can not home dogs from overseas to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough.Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.Current location: In a foster home in Spain can travel in March
