Bella, a 3 years old female Belgian Malinois x French Bulldog available for adoption from Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home in Scotland

Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home

Bella

Scotland
SexFemale
Age3 years
BreedBelgian Malinois x French Bulldog

Bella is looking for an experienced owner who have plenty of time to help her settle into her new home. She will need to have company all day with someone who can help teach her that it is okay being left. Bella would like to be the only pet though may be able to live with high school aged children. Bella is a real sweetheart of a girl who is snuggly and an extremely loving, loyal companion. She adores human contact and just wants to be with you though her love of human company does mean she finds it difficult being away from people, however through patience and consistency, she does have the ability to settle on her own for short periods. This is still a work in progress so once she goes home, her new owner will need to be fully committed to start from the beginning and very gradually build up her leaving time at a pace she is comfortable with. Bella is playful and loves to go for her walks though she can get mouthy and grab at her lead through her excitement in the beginning. She is generally friendly with other dogs though they do not always appreciate her playstyle so any interactions she has will need to be monitored. Once she has had her fun for the day, she likes getting comfy in a cosy bed or will sprawl herself across your lap for a snooze.

Cindy Lou

Age2 years
BreedBulldog

Cindy Lou is looking for an experienced dog owner who have owned large bully breeds like her before so they can appreciate their personalities. She requires her own private garden so she has a space to decompress and will require company all day to begin with. Cindy Lou needs to be the only pet in an adult only home. Cindy Lou is a fun-loving, bouncy, excitable girl with a big personality and even bigger exuberance for life. She is the definition of a bull in a China shop and is still learning that not every situation requires maximum excitement so she will be best suited to an owner who have experience and are confident in handling powerful dogs and are committed to her ongoing training- giving her clear boundaries and consistent guidance. Cindy Lou is playful and enjoys many different toys to chew on. She loves her enrichment sessions that include likimats or tasty filled kongs which really does help her wind down, so it is important she is provided with this in her new home, especially whist she is settling in. In the right home, Cindy Lou has the potential to make a wonderful, loyal and entertaining companion. She is full of character, loves being involved and will undoubtedly reward her new owner with affection, fun and laughter. During her stay, Cindy Lou has been assessed by an independent breed assessor who deemed that she is not a banned breed.

Ferry, a 1 year old female Belgian Malinois available for adoption from Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home in Scotland

Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home

Ferry

Scotland
SexFemale
Age1 year
BreedBelgian Malinois

Ferry is looking for a very specific home so we will be choosing any successful applicants carefully. Please read her profile in full before submitting your interest. Ferry requires a very specific home with an expert owner who has a lot of experience with extremely demanding breeds. She requires an adult only household where there are no visiting children and where she will be the only pet. Her home must have access to a secure and private garden where she can do training throughout the day. Ferry is a highly intelligent, energetic girl, who has the eagerness and willingness to learn, but she is not a typical pet dog and will require careful handling and consistent training with ongoing jobs and activities to keep her active. As an adolescent who is still growing, Ferry shouldn’t be over exercised but will need almost hours of stimulation to prevent her from becoming frustrated. Her exercise will need to increase as she reaches adulthood when she will require vigorous exercise on a daily basis. Ferry does become over excited easily which can result in her being too mouthy, so she has some favourite toys that she likes to grab which distract her from becoming too grabby with people. With the right owner Ferry has a huge amount of potential and is sure to bring unconditional loyalty to her person. She is very affectionate with people that she knows and trusts, but she can be wary of strangers, so will require careful socialisation to bring out the best in her. She will thrive with someone who can give her continuous training where she can utilise her abilities appropriately through sport, detection or any other structured tasks deemed suitable for her.

Finn

Scotland
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedAkita

Finn is looking for an experienced owner who have owned large dogs before and can handle them. He would like to be kept company for some of the day whilst he settles in. He is looking to be the only pet but may be able to live with older children who won’t be worried by his boisterous nature. Finn is an an extremely friendly, lovable boy who adores making friends anywhere he goes. He has a heart of gold though definitely does not realise his size and his enthusiasm when he says hello does get the better of him, so he requires an owner who have had large dogs before and are willing to work on his manners. He loves a cuddle and is very affectionate but is equally quite happy going off doing his own thing whether that be playing with his toys or sniffing out all the interesting smells. Finn is more of a ladies’ man when it comes to his canine friends though he is happy to talk alongside most dogs- his new owner will still need to be able to manage him when it comes to introducing him to other dogs.

When he does know you, he is affectionate and likes to pop up beside you for a fuss though is also quite content doing his own thing so really is the best of both worlds and is sure to make a lovely little companion. He isn’t a fan of other dogs and will make it very clear he wants his space from them so would be much happier going for his short walks in quit areas where he can sniff everything out till his heart is content. Keith

Scotland
SexMale
Age6 years
BreedLurcher

Keith is looking for an experienced owner who will continue working on his training. He would like access to his own private garden so he has a safe space of his own to stretch out his long legs and he will need company all day to begin with whilst he settles in. He would like to be the only pet but may be able to live with older, dog savvy teenagers. Keith is a lovely boy who can be a bit shy of new people to begin with so needs a little time getting to know you- having tasty treats on hand are always a winner in his eyes! He enjoys his walks, especially down to the beach where he can dip his paws in the water though does struggle when he sees other dogs so will need a patient owner who will walk him in quieter areas whilst he works on his social skills. He is playful and tears his way around the paddock as fast as he can with a squeaky toy in his mouth. Once he has been given that bit of time, his affectionate side does come out, and he loves nothing more than a cuddle beside you after he has had his fun for the day. In true lurcher style, you will find him happily stretched out on a comfy bed or couch for some much-needed snoozing. Keith has had veterinary treatment during his stay at the Home. Moo is looking for a home away from the city centre with an experienced owner who have had large, boisterous dogs in the past. He needs access to his own private garden, so he has a space to decompress if he becomes too excitable. Moo needs to be the only pet in an adult only home. Moo is a happy, friendly over exuberant boy who is always happy to see you. He is full of energy though does get wound up very easily and becomes a bit of a bull in a China shop at times which results in him becoming boisterous and grabby. For this reason, he would only be suited to an adult only home with an experienced owner who understand how bully breeds can be when over stimulated. Busy areas can feel overwhelming for him so he would love for his home to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life. He is a bundle of fun who is very playful and loves running around chasing after his toys. He would love his new owner to take him on lots of different adventures to burn off his energy and he thoroughly enjoys his enrichment sessions- especially if peanut butter is involved and this is something which can help him wind down after an exciting day! Moo has a lot of potential to make a brilliant companion for someone who understand that he will need patience and guidance to help him become a polite boy. During his stay, Moo has been assessed by an independent breed assessor who deemed that he is not a banned breed.
