About Forest of Dean Dog Rescue

Forest of Dean Dog Rescue is a small independent charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming unwanted, abandoned, and often mistreated dogs. Specialising in older dogs, ex-breeding dogs, local strays, and those with complex needs, the rescue places most dogs in foster homes for careful assessment and matching to suitable adopters. When foster space is limited, local boarding kennels are used, and dogs with ongoing medical needs may remain in lifetime foster care funded by the charity. Entirely volunteer-run and supported by donations and fundraising, every dog is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and treated before rehoming.

Age: 18 monthsSex: MaleGood with dogs: Yes, with careful introductionGood with cats: Not testedGood with children: 6+Marley is a lovely, people-focused boy who is full of character and fun. He absolutely loves being around his humans and will happily make himself part of family life. Playful and affectionate, Marley especially enjoys his toys and will thrive in a home where he has plenty to keep both his body and mind busy. He is house trained, travels well in the car, can be left for short periods, and is non-destructive in the home. Marley is used to living with children and could live with sensible children aged 6+. He gets very excited when visitors arrive and is always pleased to meet new people. Marley will need to be the only dog in the home. He is very unsure around other dogs but with slow introductions he is fine. Marley would benefit from training classes and continued socialisation and confidence building. On walks he is fairly good on the lead, although he can pull if something exciting catches his attention. As a fairly energetic Labrador cross, Marley is looking for an active family who will enjoy including him in walks, playtime, and adventures. In return, they will gain a loyal, loving companion with a big personality and lots of affection to give. Marley is microchipped, neutered and up to date with fleas and worm treatments. If you are in rented accommodation you must have a letter stating permission to have a dog at the property. This must be ready before applying for a dog you would like. Please DO NOT apply by phone. When you put in an application form you will get an automated email to let you know we have received it (check your junk folder too). We will contact you if your application is being considered. Simba, a 8 years old male French Bulldog available for adoption from Forest of Dean Dog Rescue in Gloucestershire

BreedFrench Bulldog

Simba is a lovely French Bulldog with a big heart and an even bigger love of people. A typical Frenchie, he adores human company and would happily spend his days soaking up attention, enjoying tummy rubs and snuggling up for cuddles. He is an affectionate, gentle boy who forms strong bonds with his people and will make a wonderful companion. Poor Simba arrived in rescue having suffered significant neglect. He had already had one eye removed and has now received the veterinary care he needed, including treatment for a painful ear infection. Despite everything he has been through, Simba remains a happy, loving dog who takes life in his stride and is ready to find the forever home he deserves. Simba gets on well with other dogs, but because he only has one eye, any resident dog would need to be calm and respectful rather than boisterous. Equally, he would be perfectly happy as an only dog where he can enjoy plenty of attention from his humans. He travels well in the car, walks nicely on the lead once his initial excitement has worn off, and is not destructive in the home. While he isn't particularly interested in toys or play, he more than makes up for it with his loving nature and desire to be close to his people. Simba has overcome a difficult start in life and is now looking for a caring home where he can finally enjoy the love, comfort and security he has always deserved. Simba is microchipped, neutered and up to date with flea and worm treatments. If you are in rented accommodation you must have a letter stating permission to have a dog at the property.
