About Forever Hounds Trust

Forever Hounds Trust is a UK-based rescue charity dedicated to the welfare, rehabilitation, and rehoming of greyhounds, lurchers, and other sighthounds. Registered as a charity since 1996, the organisation operates from its centre near Cullompton in Devon, where dogs receive care in line with best-practice welfare standards before being matched with permanent, loving homes. Forever Hounds Trust also provides free, lifelong post-adoption behavioural support to help keep dogs successfully settled in their new homes. Supported by a small staff team, trustees, and a nationwide network of volunteers, the charity actively promotes improved sighthound welfare and advocates against practices that compromise the wellbeing of these breeds.

Ash

Devon
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedGreyhound

Sweet boy Ash is a friendly and affectionate greyhound. He has an inquisitive, calm nature and loves meeting other greyhounds and people alike. Ideally he would love to live with another friendly greyhound to share his company and help him feel even more confident. Ash travels well and enjoys trips in the car, especially to quieter areas.Ash is a slightly more sensitive soul in busier environments and can feel worried around unfamiliar breeds of dogs. He will often choose to give himself space and back away if he’s not quite comfortable. Because of this, he would prefer walks in quieter areas until he feels more confident.Ash is looking for kind, understanding adopters who will appreciate his gentle nature and support him as he settles into home life. In return, he will be a loyal and loving companion, bringing plenty of fun and affection into his new home.Needs gentle understanding adopters who can support him around other breeds of dog when he is feeling anxious Best suited to a calm, patient home with walks in quieter areas while he builds confidence in new situations Would love to live with another Greyhound who can help show him the ropes Would prefer not to be left alone for long periods & needs a gradual introduction to home life

Charley, a 9 years old female Lurcher available for adoption from Forever Hounds Trust in Devon

Forever Hounds Trust

Charley

Devon
SexFemale
Age9 years
BreedLurcher

Charley is a sweet, small-medium sized lurcher girl. She’s 9 years old and is looking for a new home due to a change in circumstances in her current home, where she is a much-loved member of the family. Charley is a loving dog who bonds deeply with her family, and is very intelligent. She loves walking and playing with her tennis ball, and despite her age needs plenty of exercise – but she is also a typical couch potato lurcher, as long as her exercise needs are being met. Charley is very friendly with women and although she needs a more gradual introduction to new men, it usually doesn’t take long to gain her trust. She is housetrained, well-behaved at home and can be left alone for a few hours. She travels well in the car, but can occasionally get sick on very long journeys. Charlie is nervous of other dogs; whilst she can make friends with proper introductions, she can be defensive on walks if another dog enters her personal space. She is not severely reactive or difficult to manage, and tends to ignore dogs unless they get too close, but her adopter must be willing to support her and understand that there are some situations she finds challenging. She would prefer to be the only dog in her new home. Charlie would love to live in a quiet rural or semi-rural area, with a garden to play and relax in and plenty of love and attention from her new family.Would prefer to be the only dog. May be able to live with teenagers, but would prefer a quiet, calm environment. Would prefer a rural or semi-rural home. Is still active for a 9 year old! Needs access to walking areas without too many other dogs (especially loose dogs). Can be left alone for around 4-6 hours, but this must be built up gradually in a new home.

Coco, a 11 years old female Lurcher available for adoption from Forever Hounds Trust in Devon

Forever Hounds Trust

Coco

Devon
SexFemale
Age11 years
BreedLurcher

Coco is a sweet, gentle 10-year-old lurcher girl who has come back into our care due to owner ill-health, having spent the last few years as a much loved companion. Coco is very laid back, well-behaved and easy to live with – other than a space on the sofa, she doesn’t ask for much! She is affectionate but undemanding, and loves sunbathing in the garden and going for gentle walks (she’s all about the sniffs!). She walks beautifully on-lead and travels really well in the car. She has been used to spending a few hours at a time on her own at home. Coco is wary of other dogs, and tends to give them a wide berth on a walk. She may bark a warning if she feels threatened, but this happens very rarely; she is not looking for confrontation and is not difficult to manage at all. She would prefer not to share her home with another dog, but would be happy to have polite walking companions. Coco can be hesitant to interact with new people initially, but comes round quickly and loves a fuss! She has history of being good with visiting children, but we feel she would prefer a quiet life. She’s a sensitive soul who would thrive in a quiet, comfortable home environment and will make an excellent companion dog. Despite her age, Coco is in very good health – she just needs to lose a bit of weight, and has already made a great start on this!A quiet home environment. Walks away from a lot of off-lead dogs. Must be allowed on the sofa! Would prefer access to a garden for sunbathing.

Flo, a 6 years old female Greyhound available for adoption from Forever Hounds Trust in Devon

Flo

Devon
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedGreyhound

Lovely Flo is a 5-year-old greyhound hoping to find her forever home. She can be a little quiet when first meeting new people but once she feels familiar her sweet, playful side shines through and she becomes a bouncy girl who adores fuss and playtime ! She may return to her initial shyness when settling into a home, so she’ll need patient adopters who can give her plenty of time and space to adjust at her own pace.Flo walks well alongside other greyhounds and similar-sized dogs, though being a naturally quiet and sensitive girl, she can feel a little anxious if they come into her personal space. She’s made great progress with smaller dogs since arriving with us, but they can still be a bit overwhelming for her so needs on-going management around smaller breeds. Flo would be happiest as the only dog in the home, with calm, understanding adopters who can offer her the gentle support and reassurance she needs.Would prefer not to be left alone for long periods. Needs active adopters who are looking for a playful girl Would prefer not to be left alone for long periods & needs a gradual introduction to home life. Flo will need to be the only dog in the home and would benefit from quieter walking areas where she won’t have off-lead dogs running up to her.

Maggie, a 5 years old female Lurcher available for adoption from Forever Hounds Trust in Devon

Forever Hounds Trust

Maggie

Devon
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedLurcher

Lovely Maggie is a sweet, medium-sized lurcher girl of almost 5 years old. She’s looking for a new family due to a change of circumstances in her current home. She is a much loved family member, and the difficult decision to rehome her has been made with her best interests in mind. Maggie is a sweet, friendly dog who loves her walks and playing fetch with her tennis ball, but is equally as happy snoozing on the sofa! She has a beautiful nature and is very friendly with people, although she finds children very overwhelming and will hide away from loud noise or busy environments. She’s a sociable girl who enjoys the company of other dogs, of all shapes and sizes! She currently shares her home with another dog, and would be happy to do so again – but she’d also be content as the only pet at home, as long as she gets plenty of love and attention! She’s used to home life and is clean indoors, and can be left alone for a few hours at a time. Maggie can find car travel stressful, but has potential to improve with the right input. She absolutely cannot do a full flight of stairs, despite her best efforts to learn – so a home where she can stay downstairs is important! Maggie is a big fan of sunbathing, so will need her own garden to relax in. She’s also a big fan of food, and does need to lose a fair amount of weight! Maggie walks very nicely on the lead, though she can be strong if she spots a squirrel. She loves to run, but only in secure areas (such as fields for hire). No resident children, and space to take herself away from any visiting children if she feels overwhelmed. Could live with another dog, or as the only pet. A calm, quiet home environment. A secure garden for sunbathing. A home where she doesn’t have to do stairs (a few steps are fine). A Maggie-sized space on the sofa!
