About Greyhound Rescue Wales

Greyhound Rescue Wales is the dedicated rescue and rehoming charity for greyhounds and lurchers across Wales. The organisation works to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome sighthounds while promoting high welfare standards and raising awareness of the challenges these breeds face. Alongside hands-on rescue work, Greyhound Rescue Wales actively supports efforts to end greyhound racing in Wales and advocates for stronger legal protection for sighthounds. Supported by a skilled staff team, trustees, and a large network of volunteers, the charity provides full veterinary care for dogs in its care and is committed to promoting greyhounds and lurchers as loving, loyal companion pets.

BreedLurcher

Hi, I'm Duke . I'm a 2 1/2 year old male Lurcher. I am a friendly boy who enjoys meeting and greeting new people, although sometimes I cna get a little over-excited and jump up, but I am working on this! I am a smart boy and really enjoy engaging in training, I thoroughly enjoy going on "sniffari's" and using my brain! I enjoy playing with my toys, I enjoy squeaky toys, but if you throw a ball for me, I will expect you to go and fetch it back! I am good with my housetraining and will wake you up to let you know I need to go out, but once I have had my tasty breakfast, I am happy to chill around the house. I am happy to be left for a few hours, but my new owners should understand this will need building up slowly. I enjoy my exercise, I have been working really hard on my loose lead walking, and I now walk well on my lead. I enjoy going to secure fields to burn off some of my energy! I enjoy the company of other dogs, and walk well with dogs, however I can sometimes need some time to build confidence, but once we are friends, I love a good play! I do find the car a little scary, however we have been working hard on this and I am getting better at this every time!

Milo, a 5 years old male Lurcher available for adoption from Greyhound Rescue Wales in Wales

Milo

Wales
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedLurcher

Milo is a handsome Lurcher with a wonderful, gentle nature. Calm, loving, and affectionate in the home, he's a fantastic companion who enjoys spending time with his favourite people. Milo loves meeting new people and is always happy to receive a gentle fuss. He is fully housetrained and can be left alone for a few hours, although this should be built up gradually as he settles into his new home. When it comes to exercise, Milo is in his element! He loves visiting secure fields where he can stretch his legs and enjoy a good zoomie. He can be strong on the lead at times, but he's an intelligent and engaging dog who learns quickly and enjoys working with his handler. Recently, Milo has developed some lead frustration around unfamiliar dogs, which means he may become vocal or appear unsure when approaching them on walks. He would benefit from quieter walking areas and patient, controlled introductions to other dogs. Once he gets to know them, he enjoys their company and can make good canine friends. Milo is looking for a home where he can be the only pet, allowing him to enjoy all the love and attention for himself. He would also be best suited to a family with children aged 12 years and over.
