About Heathlands Animal Sanctuary

Heathlands Animal Sanctuary is a volunteer-run animal rescue charity based in Royston, Hertfordshire, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of unwanted domestic pets. The sanctuary supports dogs, cats, rabbits, and some caged birds, caring for most animals in foster homes rather than a central facility. With a strict non-destruction policy, Heathlands rehomes hundreds of animals each year that might otherwise face euthanasia in council pounds. By using foster care, the charity is able to better assess each animal’s temperament and needs, helping to place them into safe, suitable homes primarily across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Bedfordshire, with some adoptions considered nationwide.

Andy is a loveable boy, sweet, fun and has bags of character. His eye-catching colour makes him stand out from the crowd and everyone is pleased to meet him out on his walks. Being part sight-hound, he has a prey drive but he is in training for this and being collie smart, he is learning quickly. He has basic commands and would really benefit from a home that would be dedicated to continuing his training. He loves his walks and is come on well with his lead training, and stop commands. He loves to play with all his toys in the house and is clean in his crate at night and sleeps through to morning without a peep. He is very friendly with other dogs and loves to play as much as he can. He will happily find toys to entertain himself too. Travelling in the car entertains him for the whole journey, happily looking out the window. Bodhi

Hertfordshire
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedBorder Collie

Gorgeous Bodhi came from Ireland in February last year and quickly found a fantastic home. He was living a great life with his adopter until last week, when we were all shocked and saddened to hear that this wonderful lady, had tragically, unexpectedly died. She has worked extremely hard with Bodhi, spending many hours walking, training and taking him to places like cafes, pubs, town centres etc. He loves travelling in the car, knows a number of advanced tricks and was about to start doing heelwork to music.Bodhi is an extremely active dog. He has been doing several long walks a day, often managing over ten miles. He's very agile, loves jumping on and over things and would be a great agility prospect. He is good with dogs of all sizes on walks and has a few firm friends who he plays with.He has quite a high chase instinct which was also worked on, this has improved but he can still sometimes react to moving vehicles, trains, deer etc so this will need to be part of ongoing training. We are looking for a collie experienced home who will understand his traits and continue his training. He thoroughly enjoys and needs lots of exercise and would walk all day if you let him! He would thrive doing dog sports such as agility, hoopers, obedience or heelwork to music as he is extremely keen and trainable.Bodhi was a much adored dog. He and his adopter had a very special bond and we know they would have achieved a lot together.Someone out there has a Bodhi shaped hole in their lives that he can fill with adventures and they will be very lucky to have him.Older kids.
