Donder is a dog who just wants your love! He was adopted by current owners six years ago when he came over from Danyflor, Romania. He loves sitting on the sofa for cuddles, ear scratches or finding a sunny spot to lie in. He can also be energetic and playful, loves to have fun and likes to get your attention e.g. by bringing toys to you.Suitable for an adult only household and has had some dog control measures in place due to a biting incident in April 2024. Please speak to current owners for further details. The current owners have decided to rehome Donder to somewhere more suited to his needs due to there now being a child in the household. Many rescue dogs have had a tough past and may need time to adjust. Some aren’t used to living in a home and could find new things scary. You may need patience and sometimes help from a trainer or behaviourist.Do I have enough time and commitment for a dog? What will I do during holidays, nights out, or if I’m unwell? Can I cope if my dog takes a long time to settle?Do I have the finances for food, insurance, vet bills, training, and care?If adopting a puppy, can I cover the cost of neutering/spaying?See if the dogs you like are a good fit for your home and routine. If you see a dog you like, you can apply to adopt them directly. If you don’t find the right dog, you can still fill out an application in advance. Mia is a young, friendly GSD x. She's such a well-mannered girl who greets people enthusiastically, but calmly without jumping up or barking. She enjoys the company of other dogs.Mia would suit a home that has experience with the GSD breed or similar. She’s very bright and learns quickly. She would enjoy another dog in the household as she loves playing. Mia would benefit from proper training to keep her brain working - this is a must. She is not the sort of dog that can be left at home for hours at a time, that won’t work. She would enjoy an active household and walks very well on leash. Given her size we think respectful children over 8, but as ever this is a guideline. Vesper, a 5 years old male Collie available for adoption from Helping Hounds Hampshire in Hampshire

Helping Hounds Hampshire

Vesper

Hampshire
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedCollie

Vesper came to us via another rescue last year. He was absolutely lovely and got on with all the other dogs and humans during his stay. He did guard his toys and bed but nothing we felt we had to be too concerned about.Vesper was rehomed to an experienced home but unfortunately someone became ill and Vesper had to be returned. Once returned he was very unsure of himself, quite depressed and didn't trust anyone. He bit three of the volunteers here - bites not needing stitches but bites that said 'go away ... I don't know what else to do'. Obviously that was very concerning and we reached out to friends of ours, Lou and Em from Rebalancing Dog Training ... Vesper then went to Training school for 4 weeks ... the difference when he came back has been amazing. Lou and Em are very thorough and strict about what is and what is not allowed and we have followed that completely.Since returning from Rebalancing Training Vesper has been in foster with the Head of our rescue in their home, Kate/John and their two long suffering dogs, Steve and Ferdie! He has fitted in really well, accepts his place in the home, happily choses to go to his crate, walks nicely on lead and is mannerly when meeting other people and dogs.He is concerned about walking too far away from his home and the people he trusts so this is something that needs to be built on. He is better when driven somewhere and then taken for a walk. He also loves his time at the Freedom Field.Vesper needs a calm and very experienced home. He can live with other dogs as long as they are calm and don't appear to threaten him. He cannot live with puppies because they irritate him and he doesn't like loud voices/shouting or being surprised. He needs to know he is safe. He definitely cannot live with cats as he will chase and because of his bite history he absolutely cannot live with children. We definitely know there is the right home out there for Vesper; it's just a case of finding it. He is very, very affectionate towards the people in his foster home - they have followed the Rebalancing Training School's advice completely hence we know he is now ready and adjusted for his final forever home.We would need to do several meet and greets with any potential adopters to ensure his final forever home is the right one. From his current fosterers: "Vesper is one of the most loyal, faithful dogs you will ever meet. Once he trusts you ... you will be in his heart forever. He is funny, quirky also quite lazy sometimes and he really is a joy to be around. The right person and home will be so very lucky".If you have read all of the above - then THANK YOU - and if you think you can offer Vesper a home please get in touch via the ADOPT ME button above.
