About High Hopes Dog Rescue

High Hopes Dog Rescue was founded on 9 August 2018 by Samantha Watson after witnessing first-hand the suffering of dogs in Romanian public kill shelters. Driven by compassion and a determination to do more, the charity was created to rescue dogs in desperate need and put their welfare above all else. Since then, High Hopes Dog Rescue has helped many dogs find safety, care, and hope for a better future, with every donation and offer of support going directly toward the dogs. Registered as a charity in February 2024, the rescue continues to grow, recently establishing volunteer-led dog walking teams to enrich the lives of dogs in boarding kennels. With big hearts at its core, the charity remains committed to giving vulnerable dogs the care and kindness they deserve.

This sweet girl has been quietly making progress and is on the lookout for a forever home!Aliza was adopted as a puppy back in 2021 along with her mum and siblings. She was returned to us in February 2024 and since then has been in kennels she took a while to come round and show her happy side but the team there have done an amazing job with her and she’s ready for the next steps!!Aliza takes a while to warm up to new people. The team at the kennels have worked with Aliza daily and after the initial scary settling in period, she’s done so well accepting new friends. She would like a doggy friend for company, they must be playful as she loves to play! A quieter/not busy household and patient humans who will allow her the time to adjust and relax into home life again.Aliza is a beautiful and sweet girl underneath a lot of anxiety and we want more than anything for Aliza to feel safe againAliza is based in Derbyshire and will need several meets before she goes home. She’s 5 years old now and has spent enough of her life in rescue that her next home needs to be forever.

Amira, our sweet shepherd mix is desperate for a new life.Sadly she was returned to us initially due to reactivity to other dogs and has spent most of her first summer in kennels rather than the home she deserved. She was adopted again and returned earlier this month after she nipped a visitor to the second homeShe was saved from a kill shelter in Romania and wanting a quiet life for herself with someone that loves her. At home she was a good girl and left some energy for 9pm zoomies!Amira is 4 years old, a sweet and gentle girl. This beautiful scruff is around 57cm tall and has been in the UK since early March, settling in. She enjoys her walks on the lead and a bit of an adventure but she is a home bird and her favourite things are tummy rubs and cuddles at home with the people she loves.Amira can be reactive to other dogs which we believe has come from her history of the shelter. She has previously been around other dogs without issue but the lead seems to trigger her anxieties. She would appreciate a quiet home with few visitors. Just a quiet home to relax in. We think Amira is a mioritic shepherd mix, despite being smaller than your average mio, her wariness of strangers is typical of the breed. If you have room in your heart and home for Amira and would like to apply to adopt her please send us a message. This girl has spent years of her life in awful conditions and to only be able to give her a kennel is heartbreaking she needs to be understood.

Stunning girl Amy….. the first picture shows how she was found as a puppy. We have seen her grow up in Bosnia into the beautiful, happy and sweet dog you see in the rest of the pictures.Amy has waited a long time for a family to call her own. Sadly without available foster space here were unable to take her until we find a suitable place for her, so she has patiently waitedAmy is around 15kg and is a super friendly girl! She loves people and other dogs….. she loves cats too but is very interested in playing with them and probably not the best fit with most cats. Amy is a collector and her favourite game is definitely fetch! She likes to carry things around with her and bring them to youAmy is now 1-2 years old and deserves a chance to be part of a real family - we want to find that for her in 2026

AVA - OVER 1000 DAYS IN KENNELSOur beautiful Ava is our third dog desperate for a home…. She is 6 years old and has spent most of her life in rescue. She need a very special home and a lot of love, patience and understanding.Ava has been returned three times now. She was adopted as a 4 month old puppy and returned 2 years later. After a long stay with us she found her second home and settled in perfectly but a relationship break down brought her back to us again. She went home for a third time but sadly was returned just over a week later.Once she goes home she will need time (months!! Not days) to decompress and things will need to be taken slowly at her own pace. Ava takes a long time to build a strong bond with any human and will need slow introductions to new people. She usually takes to women faster than men.Once you have gained her trust and built that bond, Ava is very loving, super affectionate and attentive girl. She is a cuddle monster who loves nothing more than belly rub and to give kisses. She is a clever girl who knows sit and gives paw. She will love learning new tricks with you and this will be a great way to build that bond with her. Ava loves her toys she will play tuggy with you and any kind of chasing game with her toys. She can be wary of new dogs but with careful introductions she has enjoyed walks with her doggy friends in her second home and walks well with the other dogs at the kennels. She doesn’t like unknown dogs coming into her space or overly bouncy dogs and needs to be an only dog at home.Ava would like a quite life. She needs a quiet home with minimal visitors and someone who will take things at her pace. She may experience some settling in issues but with committed owners willing to work through them this girl will blossom. In return she will give you all the affection with the best kisses and cuddles. Hopefully this will be fourth time lucky for this beautiful girl. Please share for Ava and help make 2025 her last year spent in rescue

Meet Calebgorgeous big boy who has been stuck in kennels with no interest for 10 monthsHis story is sad and one we have shared before. 3 years ago we were asked to take him in by another rescue when his owner had lost everything and was unable to keep him.He was adopted with another one of our dogs, his friend from his foster home, and then sadly both were returned only a few weeks later. One day, whilst he was in our care - Caleb’s first owner came back to us saying he was back on his feet and really wanted his dog back ...so Caleb happily went home with his previous owner. We thought this was such a happy ending for both Caleb and his dad.At the start of the year we were contacted by a vet in Wales asking for our consent to have him put to sleep. They had checked his chip when his owner had taken him in and realised we were on the chip as a secondary contact and that Caleb had rescue back up.Of course we didn't allow that to happen and said we would take him back. From what we remembered of Caleb he was a lovely boy who is now 5 years old.We don't know the in's and outs of why he was taken in to be put to sleep that day. All we have been told is that he was attacked by two other dogs a year ago and this had left him dog reactive, he remained good with people. We worked quickly to find an emergency space for Caleb and get him safe. He has been back with us since February 2025.Caleb is quite a large boy and originally came from Portugal, he is a big friendly goofball who loves people.Previously, he didn't like being left alone for long periods but that may have changed over time. Caleb loves to play and still thinks he's can fit on your lap!! He is strong on the lead but we haven’t seen any reactivity mentioned by the previous home.Caleb is currently in kennels and is feeling very sad. He's desperate to find his forever family and doesn't understand what he's done wrong to end up back in rescue.Caleb is looking for a home experienced with bigger dogs, pet free home who will take him on for the rest of his life. He's neutered and fully vaccinated. He really is a gorgeous boy inside and out and a firm favourite with our volunteers! We haven’t seen any of the reactivity mentioned by his previous home towards other dogs out on a walk.10 months is a lifetime for a dog to be cooped up in kennels. Caleb needs a home!!!Please share to help Caleb find a family.

DAISY - in kennels since 12/10/23Daisy is our 5th dog seemingly stuck in kennels. It doesn’t seem to matter how often we post her, Daisy never gets any interest but we have to find this girl a home. She so deserves it. PLEASE SHARE.Daisy has already been abandoned, adopted, returned and heartbroken all over again. She was so shut down and distraught at losing her family it took us a long time to bring her out of her shell. She is now almost 2 years into rescue life and although she needs an experienced home and someone committed to her, she is worth her weight in gold and does not need to be in kennels. She was adopted again earlier in the summer but was returned after 2 days and Daisy happily settled back into routine. She is the most loving, loyal and affectionate dog and will give you her everything if you give her the time.Daisy was returned to us after being adopted as a pup initially. She was reactive towards other dogs due to being under socialised at 9 months old. With lots of training and persistence, we eventually earned Daisy’s respect and in return saw the most loving, loyal girl come out of her. Daisy learnt about other dogs, how to respect their space and how to play, and now spends her days with lots of friends running around the paddocks at the kennels. She loves a cuddle, likes to look lovingly into your eyes as much as she can and will present her belly for tickles and her big nose for kisses at any opportunity she gets! There is some Mali in her mix and is typical of the breed, needing an experienced home and confident, firm owners. She is wary of new people and needs boundaries at home. Once you are friends, Daisy never forgets you and she is very obedient but it does take time to earn her trust and get to that point.Daisy is desperate for her own person that she can give her all to and receive the same love in return.Daisy would prefer to be an only dog although is good with other dogs, from our experience she bonds quickly to her person and her breed mix means she doesn’t share well. She is most happy with routine, structure and equal respect shown to her. No cats and no children for Daisy. She needs firm and experienced adopters who are open to lots of cuddles, slobbery kisses and treating her like the big baby she isLet’s find her someone who loves as hard as she does

From a physically shivering and petrified dog…. To a smiley, bouncy and never ending kissing dog…… her eyes say it all….. full of love. Our beautiful Duffy is such a sweet, obedient and charismatic soul who absolutely adores her human friends. She was returned to us last year and the transformation from the dog we met, scared and visibly shaking, to this happy, confident and very ready to love again girlie is so lovely to see.Duffy totally has her poses down and loves the camera, so capturing her pretty face is easy but as of yet she’s only had one meet. Making new friends is scary for Duffy but sausages and tasty snacks certainly help win her heart!Duffy needs to be an only dog and would love a person all to herself to give her heart too. She is coming up to 6 years old now and would really like to be cuddled up on the sofa, enjoying fusses and a relaxed pace of life…. Although watch out for those zoomies!! It’s a good thing she knows where her breaks are!!

Luna has our entire hearts. We cannot understand how such a fantastic dog has not had any interest. We hope someone will give her the chance to show what a good girl she is. She really is a fantastic girl with a few quirks and is looking for an experienced home as the only dog with a person she can give all of her love too.Luna’s info: 3.5 years oldFemaleSpayed medium mixed breed Needs an adult only homeNeeds to be the only pet Rescue Back Up provided for lifeLocated in WorcestershireLuna has been in foster since she was 9 months old (after being adopted at 4 months old). She adores her human friends and we adore her just as much.Luna is the sweetest and most lovely girl. She loves to cuddle and gives so much love to the people she trusts. She absolutely loves to play and has lots of energy. She would love long walks and has even tried her hand at canicross which she loved. At the end of the day she does enjoy some calm cuddles and chilling out and we can totally see her snuggled up on the sofa. She travels beautifully in the car and likes it when you sing along with the music she also LOVES dressing up!!! Anything that means she is being told she is a good girl, she loves to do.Luna walks well on the lead but can react to other dogs whilst on lead. It’s a frustration for Luna and something her foster mum has been working on with her. She responds well when she is re-directed and is much better now. The girl loves to please! We have also been trying Luna with some simple trick training like “paw” and “roll over”, she is a super smart cookie and very obedient. Luna is dog friendly but doesn’t like to share her person and we feel she would be best as an only dog in the home. She can be nervous of new people and visitors to the home need to be introduced slowly whilst she’s settling but once you have that bond with her, you are bonded for life Luna is based in Worcestershire and will need a few meets before she is ready to go home. She loves getting goofy and silly in play and is a sweet girl, first up for kisses and cuddles always. She would like an adult only home who can give her the time and patience to settle and adjust.Luna does have a prey drive and is not suitable to live with cats or small furries. She is super special to us and she deserves the world Adoption Donation: £250

We’ve posted Luna Chow thousands of times…. We don’t feel she needs an introduction…. You all know the Diva! But she does need a forever home! Luna Chow is dog number 11!Luna was returned to us 2 years ago. Since that day, no one has applied or even asked to meet her.Luna arrived at High Hopes with her pups — who quickly found homes. She settled beautifully in foster, then was adopted. Sadly, after 9 months she was returned. We never share this part to place blame — only to give the full picture of Luna’s story. In her first home she showed signs of anxiety, and a trainer’s report suggested she may struggle with touch. When she came back to us, we took things slow. Hands-off, letting her come to us when ready. And slowly, trust blossomed. Her breakthrough moment? A hairbrush!Over 4–5 months we saw Luna transform — thanks to patience, trust. Rehabilitation isn’t linear, but Luna reminds us why we always put dogs’ needs first. There’s no denying it… Luna is stunning. She is the kind of dog that everyone wants to stop and say hello too. From the very beginning, we’ve worked carefully with Luna to make sure she always felt safe, respected, and able to trust in her own time. Our volunteers have been incredible at listening to our instructions, letting Luna come to them when she was ready, waiting for her “yes” before giving affection, and always giving her the choice to step away. With this advice, she’s built a circle of friends who adore her and she adores them just as much (honestly, she’s more popular than we are )Here’s the magic about Luna….once she’s chosen you as part of her pack, it’s forever. She doesn’t forget her people, and she loves with her whole heart. New friends still need to earn her trust, but she’s learned that most bring snacks—which makes her a little quicker to warm upShe’s happy spending time 1:1, but equally content in a group, as long as her friendship initiation has been followed. Becoming part of Luna’s pack is something special and it’s truly worth every second it takes to get there. After her assessment period post return, learning to trust and making lots of new friends, Luna was ready to show us who she really was underneath that floof!!!She’s such a funny, cheeky girl who’s very exuberant in nature. She loves to sit on your lap and has no idea of personal space (ironic given the need for her own!!)! She’s very loving and lives for belly rubs. She is a playful girl but her play style is body barging and wrestling!! After a busy day playing, Luna settles down for a nap, we have heard her snoring(!) and really enjoys her beauty sleep! She’s one of the happiest dogs we have ever had, she likes chasing her tail, digging and running in the secure field with great animation!! She is quite strong willed, cheeky and the word no seems to make her even more cheeky.….and this is the Luna Chow we know and adore! The floofiest, cheekiest, silliest dog…. If you want a furry sass pants…. Look no further than Chow!!We feel Luna may be better suited to living as an only dog or with a confident laid back dog who matches her play style.Luna can be strong on the lead, she’s always excited to go out, explore and keen to get going. As much as she loves her walks she is also quite lazy and tires herself out quickly!!!She loves playing with toys, zooming around with her foster friends and getting as muddy as possible, followed by tummy rubs! She is a funny girl and constantly makes us laugh with her silly moments.Luna has masses of cuddles and love to give, she just wants someone to give it to who can respect and listen to her boundaries. She now has lots of friends to do that with but she has to share them and would love her very own humans who are happy to be loved by her. A chow/ large guarding breed experienced home would best suit Luna.Luna is 4 years old now and based in foster in Worcestershire and will need a few meetings for potential adopters to pass her initiation1170 days…. That’s how long Luna has waited for her life to start. The first day we saw her.

999 days in kennels as of 17th January 2026!!! PLEASE SHARE FOR MADDY!!!Maddy has recently really started to struggle in kennels and is not herself she is spending a lot more time in her bed and doesn’t have the “Maddy” zest for life we’re used to seeing. She is almost depressed in nature and maybe after almost 1000 days in kennels, that life is getting to her. For anyone that has personally met Maddy, she is super happy, 100% excitement all of the time, has energy for days…. It’s so sad to see her like this and we need to find her a home. She’s only 4.5 years old.Maddy is a fantastic girl. Super smart, motivated and enthusiastic to learn. She is food motivated and loves training. Teaching her tricks will be a great way to bond. She has fantastic potential in the right home. We think she would make a good hoopers or agility dog to harness her brains and energy.Maddy is a loving girl towards her people. She does do better with 1:1 attention but can happily find her own fun and take a toy or chew into her bed. She loves to play but also enjoys mental enrichment with lickimats/kongs, sniffing and puzzle games. She is a smart cookie.Maddy does get on with other dogs but can be boisterous. She is best suited to be an only dog in the home but with doggy friends to keep her socialised.Maddy can be strong on the lead so will need some continued work in this area. She would make a great canicross dog and can run for miles! She has a lot of pent up energy and can get overstimulated in busy environments. A calmer home that can help her relax after a good run and some mental stimulation would be perfect for Maddy.Maddy will thrive less complicated, one or two person adult only home. She will need adopters with experience of working with a rescue dog. She needs a secure garden with 6ft fencing. This beautiful girl has so much potential in the right home and we are hoping she won’t have wait much longer for her happily ever after.Maddy has waited so long to be seen….. we really need your help to share herPLEASE SHARE and please send us a message if you may be interested in fostering Maddy with a view to adoption. Beautiful big boy Monty is dog number 15 looking for a new family in 2026.He is approaching 2 years old and is a very loyal, loving, big baby dog.Monty can be left alone for 2.5/3 hours and happily greets you with some woofs to show his excitement that you’re home! He is a big boy and does tend to chew when anxious so this may be a possibility in his new home. He has no sense of how big he and as you can see, this big pupper is very happy around children and whilst he tries to be gentle, he can accidentally knock them over due to this size.He is an inquisitive boy and loves to sniff out his snacks so snuffle mats, kongs, lick mats would be lots of fun for Monty. His main issue is the unpredictable reaction towards other dogs.. his current family feel this is due to fear but unfortunately he is becoming too strong for them to manage. He is an angel dog at home, large lazy boy, who doesn’t seem to need loads of exercise. He can open doors very easily and usually helps himself to a nap on one of the children’s beds!He is very obedien and does listen when he’s told no but is equally cheeky!Monty struggles to settle with visitors outside of the family unit to the home.Monty has made friends with several dogs outside of the home but can be reactive on lead to unknown dogs.Monty would be best placed with an experience adult couple, without children and as the only dog with the potential of some socialising. Monty is just a baby really but has some underlying anxiety that needs some work.Monty is currently based in Bishops Stortford and will require several meets before he goes home. Please send us a message if you might be interested in help handsome Monty to find his forever home

Our resident bear Oscar is looking for a family! He has been in kennels since June 2025.Oscar is a 2 year old mioritic shepherd who needs a special experienced home. He is a silly goose who is scared of his own shadow bless him but has a beautiful nature and likes to play and get goofy. He’s a really sweet boy who doesn’t know his size or where the breaks are when it’s time for zoomies!Oscar puts a lot of trust in his people so Oscar’s family need to be confident handling a big dog like him as he feeds off that energy which in turn helps him feel more confident and comfortable. He would like to be the only pet at home although does have some dog friends at the kennels he has previously guarded against other dogs at home, no children (as they’re super scary) and needs time and patience to settle in at home. He will need several meets to feel comfortable but each time more and more of his silly side will come out and you will fall a bit more in love! Please share and help Oscar find his family.
