About Homerun Hounds

Home Run Hounds Greyhound Charity is a volunteer-run registered charity (No. 1209071) dedicated to rehoming ex-racing Greyhounds across the UK. Operating from six centres—including Wombourne, Stourbridge, Shenstone, Lakenheath, Warrington and Essex—the charity works nationwide to carefully match hounds with suitable adopters. They do not discriminate on age and assess a wide range of living situations, including flats and even boats, working with the boating community where appropriate. With flexible fostering options and thorough suitability checks, Home Run Hounds ensures both adopters and greyhounds are well matched for a happy, lasting home.

Billy, a 2 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Home Run Hounds in Staffordshire

Home Run Hounds

Billy

Staffordshire
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedGreyhound

Yes - we have another Billy at our Monkspath kennels, this time it's Aero Billy (or Billy 2, as we lovingly refer to him). This stunning 1 year old hurt his leg on his trial, so has no racing form. If you are looking for youthful fun - Billy is your dog. Incredibly puppy like, due to his age, Billy would prefer an active family, with older or no children. He has no concept of spacial awareness and all he wants to do is cuddle you - in fact, if you are fussing him & you stop, he will nibble at your fingers for more. Billy is very energetic but totally adorable but shares beautifully with Echo, so can be the perfect gentleman, with guidance. Whilst we have been keeping a close eye on his leg, he hasn't yet been off site for socialisation - therefore Billy has no concept of other breeds, traffic noise etc. Once fully healed, we plan to get Billy into a longer term foster, with an experienced handler, to help him to learn the ropes. In the meantime, if a young, energetic hound is on your wish list, please come and meet him.

Bob, a 6 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Home Run Hounds in Staffordshire

Home Run Hounds

Bob

Staffordshire
SexMale
Age6 years
BreedGreyhound

Bob is a lovely boy, great company and a pleasure to walk. He walks without pulling and looks for occasional reassurance. Bob would benefit from more trips out to get used to other dogs, as he is a little fearful at the moment. He is however, a big softie at heart and loves cuddles with humans and benefits from lots of affection and reassurance. One of our lucky volunteers had the pleasure of Bob’s company on a weekend home visit recently. Bob’s initial enthusiasm for affection and a fuss showed no signs of waning over the stay, he is such a friendly boy. He still isn’t so keen on other dogs though, so Bob’s likely to want his new owner(s) all to himself. That dislike of other animals extends to cats, squirrels etc, so care is needed out and about. That said, although Bob shows his dislike with a whine, he isn’t reactive or difficult to control, he just likes to make his feelings known.Bob settled well in the house, no toileting mishaps or reactions to household noises. He was however curious about the TV and had a good look round it to see where the sounds and pictures were coming from! Although Bob can handle steps out and about, he will need practice with stairs.Bob is partial to a doggy ice-cream and has a healthy appetite but soon learned that human food was out of bounds - he occasionally showed guarding behaviour around food so will need an owner who can train him in this regard. Bob’s good manners continued through his walks, and he is generally great on the lead, but just needs distracting from those pesky other animals he doesn’t think much of. He is well behaved in shops and cafes and will make a lovely companion.Described as a beautiful soul, if you’d like to help Bob find his feet and give him the loving home he deserves, you're greyhound savvy and have a home where he would be the only pet....then we can’t wait to hear from you!

Beautiful Brucie (Itsadreamersgame) is a stunning black 4 year old boy, looking for his forever home.Brucie is very shy with people when he first meets them. Once he gets to know you, he's the most loving boy.A recent trip off site threw him into pet life at the deep end. He has a lot to learn about the big wide world, but with love, patience and lots of new adventures, we know Brucie will blossom. Not a fan of loud noise, Brucie would prefer a home where there are older or no children, preferably a quiet setting. Due to his initial nervousness of new experiences, Brucie will need a patient and experienced dog owner. In return, Brucie will give you his unconditional love and a most loyal companion

Champ, a 4 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Home Run Hounds in Staffordshire

Champ

Staffordshire
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedGreyhound

Charming chap Champ (Droopys Suprstar) is an absolute stunner of a handsome black boy. This dashing 3 year old is waiting to meet his forever family. An outgoing, friendly and confident lad, Champ loves his interaction with the volunteers - a game of 'play bow' being his favourite - he's just a joy to have in kennels. We are just beginning Champ's socialisation and his first trip out was a busy and noisy one. At first he wasn't too keen on getting into the car but soon got the hang of it. He found children a little overwhelming to begin with but was happy to have them around when stopped at a cafe. He didn't react to the many people, dogs (and even a horse) that passed by on his walk. Since then, Champ has had some foster time, where he was a star in the house, no reaction to household noises, happy to snooze and get fuss off grandchildren and go to bed and sleep through when he was told it was bedrime. He wasn't too keen on busy traffic but happily walked on quieter roads. For now, we know him to be a very loving and affectionate boy, who adores people. He walks lovely on his lead and prefers to plod alongside you and loves a snooze. So if you're looking for a laid back gentle giant who takes life in he slow lane, Champ is the boy for you.

Charlie, a 6 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Home Run Hounds in Staffordshire

Charlie

Staffordshire

Age6 years
BreedGreyhound

Charlie is a smaller Fawn boy who is looking for his forever home. Charlie had the opportunity to go on F2A, he learnt a lot from his time in a home and is now keen to find his permanent family. In the home Charlie was fairly settled, he wasn’t keen on stairs and slept well overnight downstairs. He enjoys playing with his toys in the house but needs more confidence outside. Charlie is a hound who could benefit from having another dog in the home.To see how Charlie copes in the outside world, he went on a trip to the local garden centre with his friends Razl and Champ. Safe to say Charlie had a wonderful time and was full of confidence. He jumped into the van and settled straight away. At the garden centre he had a lovely time looking around and absolutely loved receiving cuddles from everyone at the store, his calm personality shone through and he was very confident with the other hounds around him.Charlie will need a family to help him with his confidence and if there is another dog in the family this will really benefit him. He really is an adorable boy, if you think Charlie could be the boy for you then please contact Home Run Hounds to arrange to meet him.

Deputy, a 3 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Home Run Hounds in Staffordshire

Deputy

Staffordshire
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedGreyhound

Darling Deputy (Newinn Deputy) is a stunning 2 year old black boy is already proving to be a massive hit with our volunteers. He has had weekend with one of our fosterers the day after he arrived and they said he is a clever, funny and loving hound and calm for a two year old. He was well behaved and soon worked out what came out of the kitchen!!Household noises don't bother him... well may apart from the hoover! He gets on well with children, although probably best with older children as he can be excitable at times but is equally happy to chill out when everyone else is. He walks well on the lead, standing calmly whilst he's getting ready but on occasion was just happy to stay in his bed and he was fine with traffic noise. He loves his food but gets the message when he is told no.Dep is a youngster, and loves everyone and enjoys socialising in shops and cafes. He still requires some training around toileting but asks to go out. He needs some help with being left but an experienced hound owner could easily help him as he is quick to learn so we're sure he will pick things up easily as he experiences more outside of kennels.A great all rounder, Dep looks to be small breed friendly, with lovely manners. His stunning coat and beautiful eyes, twinned with his soft and calm personality will win you over. Can you help Dep transition into his new wider world? If so, please get in touch.

Elvis, a 6 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Home Run Hounds in Staffordshire

Elvis

Staffordshire

Age6 years
BreedGreyhound

Shy boy Elvis (Bangon Elvis) has been surrendered to us due to a change of circumstances in his home, where he has lived for a year. This 5 year old beautiful black boy is a million miles away from 'confident', though with the hard work of our volunteers - showing him that the world isn't such a scary place & people are not to be feared, Elvis is making slow but steady progress.Elvis needs a home with no children and very little noise. At the moment, he is every inch a 'spook dog' and needs the help & love of a greyhound experienced person or persons.Once Elvis accepts you as 'his safe one', there is a gorgeous loving boy beneath, who brings so much to the relationship - but he needs time & he needs understanding.Previous homers of a spook dog would know what to do to help this handsome hound. Likewise, homers with a more confident bitch, who could teach Elvis Petcraft and give him strength & courage would be the perfect fit. With his wonky ears & his 'oh so handsome' face, Elvis is the perfect match for the right people. He has endured a period of unrest, is back in kennels and is sad.We will be extra vigilant as to where we next place Elvis. Originally, we were going to put him into long term foster, but couldn't risk the foster family's hard work being undone if he needed to return him - even if just for a couple of hours. This beautiful boy needs help - he needs love, consistency and above all, patience and time.If anyone feels they can help Elvis, please please come forward. This lovely lad needs his people....
