About HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Helping Yorkshire Poundies (HYPS) was founded in 2012 by Amanda Pollard Saville after she became aware of the fate facing dogs on death row in overcrowded pounds. What began as a one-person effort—personally funding boarding, veterinary care, and transport—quickly grew into a dedicated team as others joined the mission. The charity provides sanctuary, protection, and treatment for abandoned or stray dogs at immediate risk of euthanasia, using foster homes and emergency boarding kennels until a rescue space or forever home is found. While primarily focused on Yorkshire, HYPS will also help dogs outside the region when resources allow. At its heart, the charity exists to give vulnerable dogs the time, safety, and second chance they would not otherwise have.

Coco, a 5 years old female Bulldog X Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Coco

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedBulldog X Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Little miss Coco is a gorgeous short legged Pocket Bully who is approx 4-5 yrs old. She is a proper little character and personality wise we would describe her as being a mix of Bulldog and Staffy personalities – giddy, loving and excitable but also quite low energy – dare we say a bit lazy, a bit sassy and stubborn and very loyal! She is an angel in her kennel – totally clean, quiet and often found on her back in her bed snoring away! She would be fine being left for 4-5 hr periods – as long as she has a comfy bed she’ll be happy. She is not a girl who needs or wants a lot of exercise – she will walk nicely on her lead, but hasn’t been used to walks in her previous home, so it’s all new for her and she can get a bit spooked and worried by certain things (such as loud traffic), and will stop walking/want to get back ‘home’, so she needs her walking areas to be nice and quiet and would not suit an active home who want to do lots of walking. She’ll also need access to a secure, private garden. Coco LOVES her toys – she gets super excited for cuddly toys and will wiggle around with a teddy in her mouth (and then destuff it after haha!). Coco needs a quiet, pet free home and would be best with older children. She needs a home who know and love bully breeds and can give her all the love, cuddles, teddys and TLC that she really deserves.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER COCO HER FOREVER HOME **

Cupcake is the sweetest little squishy faced Pocket Bully who is a very special little girl and is looking for a very special home where she will be treated like a total Princess. She is approx 4-5 yrs old and is looking for a home who aren’t wanting a dog who will walk miles and miles, but who do want someone who will snuggle on the sofa! Cupcake has a laid back, calm personality. She is really well behaved around the house – she is housetrained, laid back and happy to be left for a few hours with no issues. She also travels well. Cupcake has been very neglected in her past life, and has been used for breeding so understandably, she doesn’t want to share her space with another dog and will need a pet free home. She needs medication for skin allergies and currently takes Zenrelia tablets, and with other management such as a good diet and medicated baths when needed, she’s doing really well (we will advise potential adopters about this further). Cupcake really is so special – she has overcome so much, and yet remains so friendly and just wants to find a family who will love and treasure her as she should always have been.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN GIVE CUPCAKE HER DREAM HOME **

BreedBulldog

Dug is a 4-5 yr old Bulldog who urgently needs a new home. He is a lovely boy who needs lots of company and attention with a Bulldog savvy family. Dug is good around the house and can be left for a few hours if needed, but the more company the better for him! He enjoys his walks and is always happy to go out, and will happily enjoy longer walks, but can manage with shorter walks fine. He was sadly attacked by another dog when out on a walk, so can now be reactive to some other dogs when he’s out, and will pull towards them, so will need his new owners to be aware of this and to give him his space from dogs. Dug needs a pet and child free home who have plenty of time for him. He’ll be an amazing companion for his lucky new family.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER DUG HIS FOREVER HOME **** PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE ALSO NEEDING TO MOVE DUG INTO FOSTER CARE WHILST HE WAITS FOR HIS PERMANENT HOME – THIS CAN BE WITH A VIEW TO ADOPTION **

Franklin, a 5 years old male Cane Corso available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

BreedCane Corso

Franklin the Cane Corso is searching for a breed experienced placement. He has just turned 5 yrs old and is a typical Corso with typical breed traits – when Franklin knows his person, he bonds very closely and is an absolute star. He is naturally wary of strangers, and needs slow and careful introductions to new people. Again, typical of his natural breed traits, Franklin will be territorial of his home, and will need careful management in place as he will not welcome strangers into his home. A kennel set up for him to be in when there are visitors would work perfectly for him. Franklin needs a home in a countryside/rural setting and must be confidently and safely managed on his walks as he can be reactive on lead. Secure off lead paddocks/fields to exercise in rather than formal lead walks would be ideal for him – he would be very happy with a good run and then to relax for the rest of the day. He loves splashing in water too, so his dream would be to have access to some water to play in! At the kennels where Franklin is currently living, he loves to run and play with other larger breed dogs in secure paddocks – he wouldn’t be able to share a home space with another dog, but if he was to live in a kennel setup, he could bond with another female large breed dog for exercising with. No cats! He will need a child free home. We know that Franklin needs a very special and specific home, but there HAS to be the right people out there who know, understand and love this incredible breed – he will be the most incredible, loyal dog in the right environment.** WE ARE HAPPY FOR FRANKLIN TO BE A SUPPORTED ‘FOREVER FOSTER’ DOG AND ARE VERY OPEN TO DISCUSSING OPTIONS FOR HIM TO GIVE HIM THE LIFE HE DESERVES **** PLEASE FILL IN AN ONLINE FORM IF YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE TO HELP FRANKLIN **

Gomez, a 12 years old male Crossbreed available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Gomez

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age12 years
BreedCrossbreed

Handsome Mr Gomez is 12 yrs old and looking for his dream retirement home. Gomez is a medium sized Crossbreed – possibly Staffy X Labrador? He arrived into our care having lost his owner, which he clearly struggled with and was understandably very anxious. He is now in foster care and is a much happier boy. He is a real character who is quite cheeky and very unique! Gomez is fully housetrained and settles well in the home. He is enjoying his walks and walks nicely on lead. He can be a bit shouty at some dogs, and others he doesn’t mind. Once introduced, he can happily walk with other dogs. We think he’ll prefer to be the only king of the castle and are looking for a pet free home for him – he loves to be centre of attention! Mr G doesn’t like to be left alone, so needs a lot of company – he’s the type of boy who will be the most fabulous companion and will bond deeply with his new owner, so will be a fabulous companion. He is in good health for his age – he has no fur on the top of his paws, as he has licked them a lot in the past – we think this was a combination of anxiety and because they were itchy, so he has been on anti itch medication (Zenrelia), which has helped and they are now looking much better – he hopefully will not need this long term, but is something to be aware of. He is a bit stiff on his legs, and has started on inflammatory pain relief for his legs (Rimadyl) and he seems to do well on this, so would benefit from this long term to keep him comfortable and active (he has 6 months of pain relief to go to his new home with). Mr G may be a senior, but he has so much of life left to enjoy and we are reaching for the stars to find him that special person who he can enjoy life with.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER MR G THE RETIREMENT HOME HE NEEDS **

Marnie, a 6 years old female Bulldog available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Marnie

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedBulldog

Marnie is amazing – she LOVES everyone she meets! She is a 6 yr old American Bulldog and an absolute big softie who greets everyone with the wiggliest bum! Marnie needs a home (or foster) with a family who have large breed experience just because she’s a big girl, so has strength behind her if she does pull on lead, but she mostly walks very well on lead and listens well to asking her to slow up if she’s getting a bit excited, but when she does pull to something excited, she will need someone confident and capable of handling her. Marnie is fully housetrained, is very quiet and settled when she’s left on her own, and doesn’t chew, so we think she’ll be happy being left on her own for a few hours with no issues at all. She also travels well – what a good girl!! Marnie will be best suited to a pet free home at the moment. Marnie has sadly had her ears ‘cropped’ at some point in her past – this makes her appearance much harsher than the reality of what she is really like and we really hope people can see past this and see her for the loving big softie that she really is. Please note: Marnie is NOT a banned breed (XL Bully), and we have official paperwork to support this. She’s just an all round amazing girl who deserves the absolute world from now on.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER MARNIE EITHER A PERMANANT HOME, OR A TEMPORARY FOSTER HOME WHILE SHE WAITS TO FIND HER FOREVER HOME – SHE REALLY NEEDS TO BE IN A HOME ENVIRONMENT ASAP **** ALL COSTS FOR DOGS IN FOSTER CARE ARE COVERED BY OUR CHARITY **

Orion, a 8 months old male Belgian Malinois available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Orion

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age8 months
BreedBelgian Malinois

Orion is approx 8 months old and is a small sized Malinois cross looking for a 5* home. He’s a very special boy who despite a terrible start to life, still adores people and is incredibly resilient. He was rescued from a home and near starvation – he’s making a great recovery and is in good health and gaining weight nicely. Orion is only currently 12kg and does have growing to do, but we think he will will only be medium size when he’s fully grown. He is now in foster care and is happily mixing with livestock, other dogs of different sizes and breeds and enjoys being around older children. Orion is reaching adolescence, so can sometimes be ‘overly’ interested in other dogs, which isn’t appreciated at times, so he needs some management through this stage of his life with an experienced and confident owner to ensure that he will mature into a well rounded and social boy. Orion has travelled well so far, and settles in his crate overnight – he can be a bit whingey if he is crated and thinks he’s missing out on fun, but shows no signs of seperation anxiety. He will need a home who can give him plenty of structure and training as he grows up, and would enjoy an active lifestyle, but is not hugely high energy at this stage and is actually quite a relaxed personality type, not highly strung. He really deserves to find a fantastic family who can give him the best life.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER ORION THE HOME HE NEEDS **** PLEASE NOTE: HE IS IN FOSTER CARE IN THE HUDDERSFIELD AREA **

Patsy, a 4 years old female Unknown available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Patsy

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age4 years
BreedUnknown

Patsy is a gorgeous medium/large sized bully breed – around 33kg, so is quite a chunky girl but is very chilled out and easy going. We do not know her exact age, but estimate her to be around 4 yrs old. Patsy needs a calm/quiet household – she is such a good girl who is very easy and undemanding around the house – she just needs a calm, confident person to understand her. She walks nicely on lead and is very low energy, so just needs a couple of shorter walks per day. Patsy is ‘OK’ with other dogs around similar size to her, and has shared a home with a male dog previously, but we think she will do best as the only dog. She is a definite no to cats! Patsy is clean in the house, is absolutely fine to be left alone for a few hours. She can get easily over excited for eg with visitors, and needs clear boundaries and structure to keep her nice and calm. She thrives on a good routine. She will need a home with direct access to a private secure garden that she can sunbathe in to her hearts content and lounge around chomping on her beloved tennis balls! Patsy will be a dream for the right home – she has tons of character and really deserves to find her forever home with someone who ideally has Bully experience (or larger breed savvy) who will give her life after clearly having such a rubbish start to life. As is common with Bully breeds, Patsy does have very sensitive skin and is prone to ear infections and skin flare ups, which needs maintenance, the right diet (grain free fish based food seems best for her), and she currently takes Apoquel.** PLEASE FILL IN AN ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER PATSY THE FOREVER HOME SHE DESERVES **** PLEASE NOTE: PATSY IS ALSO LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT FOSTER HOME WHILE SHE WAITS FOR A PERMANENT HOME **

Sunny, a 1 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Sunny

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age1 year
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

1 yr old Sunny is a dinky little Staffy cross (15kg in weight) and is a super friendly girl who loves people, and loves to snuggle! She is excitable when people visit the home as she’s a big puppy, but is actually quite chilled out in the home generally. Sunny can get frustrated when she sees other dogs, and excited when passing people and will pull towards them, so needs some work on this to help her relax when she’s out and about. She will need a home who have previous Staffy experience who can manage her around other dogs and understand that she will not be social with all dogs she meets – she will react if another dog reacts at her, for example. She is still so young and she still has lots to learn, but is super trainable and will be a fantastic girl when she finds the right home environment and people to help her thrive.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN HELP SUNNY **
