About HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Helping Yorkshire Poundies (HYPS) was founded in 2012 by Amanda Pollard Saville after she became aware of the fate facing dogs on death row in overcrowded pounds. What began as a one-person effort—personally funding boarding, veterinary care, and transport—quickly grew into a dedicated team as others joined the mission. The charity provides sanctuary, protection, and treatment for abandoned or stray dogs at immediate risk of euthanasia, using foster homes and emergency boarding kennels until a rescue space or forever home is found. While primarily focused on Yorkshire, HYPS will also help dogs outside the region when resources allow. At its heart, the charity exists to give vulnerable dogs the time, safety, and second chance they would not otherwise have.

BreedMastiff

Gentle, sweet Alfie is a 2.5 yr old Mastiff cross and is such a special boy. He has been an absolute dream since arriving with us from a stray kennels – everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with him. He is so soft, a little shy at first and just wants to be close to someone – he melts into you for a cuddle. Alfie is very easy on the lead and just plods along walking very nicely on slack leads. He has been fine around other dogs and could potentially live with a friendly neutered female dog. He is not cat tested. Alfie is now clean in his kennel, he is non destructive and loves to snuggle up in his bed. He also travels well. He really is a star. Alfie arrived with us very underweight, but has gained 5kg already and looks much better – he still has a little way to go but he LOVES his food so we are having to be careful to not overfeed! His health check at our vets was all fine with no concerns. Size wise, he is currently 35kg, and should be nearer 40kg, so he is a large breed, but not a huge boy – we think he’s a perfect size! Alfie is just amazing and couldn’t be more deserving of finding a loving forever home.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER ALFIE HIS FOREVER HOME **

Coco, a 5 years old female Bulldog X Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Coco

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedBulldog X Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Little miss Coco is a gorgeous short legged Pocket Bully who is approx 4-5 yrs old. She is a proper little character and personality wise we would describe her as being a mix of Bulldog and Staffy personalities – giddy, loving and excitable but also quite low energy – dare we say a bit lazy, a bit sassy and stubborn and very loyal! She is an angel in her kennel – totally clean, quiet and often found on her back in her bed snoring away! She would be fine being left for 4-5 hr periods – as long as she has a comfy bed she’ll be happy. She is not a girl who needs or wants a lot of exercise – she will walk nicely on her lead, but hasn’t been used to walks in her previous home, so it’s all new for her and she can get a bit spooked and worried by certain things (such as loud traffic), and will stop walking/want to get back ‘home’, so she needs her walking areas to be nice and quiet and would not suit an active home who want to do lots of walking. She’ll also need access to a secure, private garden. Coco LOVES her toys – she gets super excited for cuddly toys and will wiggle around with a teddy in her mouth (and then destuff it after haha!). Coco needs a quiet, pet free home and would be best with older children. She needs a home who know and love bully breeds and can give her all the love, cuddles, teddys and TLC that she really deserves.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER COCO HER FOREVER HOME **

Cookie, a 8 years old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Cookie

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age8 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

Tiny Staffy Cookie is 8 years young and absolutely adorable – who doesn’t love a Brindle Staffy?! She is 14kg in weight, so is a small Staffy. Cookie is a little ‘pocket rocket’ and is still very fit and well. She needs her exercise, and is not at all slowing down – on her walks she’ll find the biggest stick she can to carry – typical Staffy! Cookie loves people, and is quite an anxious little girl who does get upset when she’s not with people, so needs a home where she will not be left alone for very long, and she does need free run of the house and to be allowed to sleep in the bedroom overnight. She is fully housetrained. Cookie is a ‘chatterbox’ and is vocal when she’s excited – for eg when she’s getting ready to go out for a walk, and she doesn’t like to stay still for long on her walks so will tell you so!! She has previously lived with cats, and another dog, so we would consider a home for her with another well matched dog, and confident cats. She would be best in a quieter home with older children upwards. We would love to find Cookie a 5* Staffy experienced home who have the time to give her to help her settle.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER COOKIE THE STAFFY LOVING FOREVER HOME SHE NEEDS **

Franklin, a 3 years old male Cane Corso available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Franklin

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedCane Corso

Franklin is a 3 yr old Cane Corso who will make the most amazing companion for a breed experienced, confident family. He is an absolutely lovely lad who adores his people and is a big, goofy puppy. His main issues lie with his lead walks – he is reactive to dogs/people and traffic when on the lead – he cannot cope with walks in busy areas and needs to find a home in a countryside/more rural setting and be confidently and safely managed on his walks. He is brilliant around the house – fully housetrained, can be left for a few hours with no issues. Franklin loves to run and play with other larger breed dogs – he may be able to live with a friendly large breed female with the right savvy family. No cats! He will need a child free home. Franklin’s breed is naturally protective and territorial, so he will need careful introductions to visitors and an owner who is understanding of the breed. He will make THE most fantastic companion for his lucky new family – he just needs to find the right people for him.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER FRANKLIN THE EXPERIENCED HOME HE NEEDS **

Marnie, a 6 years old female Bulldog available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Marnie

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedBulldog

Beautiful big Marnie is the most special girl. She is an almost 6 yr old American Bulldog and an absolute big softie who adores everyone she meets and greets everyone with the wiggliest bum! Marnie needs a home (or foster) with a family who have large breed experience just because she’s a big girl, so has strength behind her if she does pull on lead, but she is generally very laid back. She mostly walks very well on lead and listens well to asking her to slow up if she’s getting a bit excited, but when she does pull to something excited, she will need someone confident and capable of handling her. Marnie is totally clean in her kennel, so she appears to be fully housetrained. She is very quiet and settled when she’s left on her own, and doesn’t chew, so we think she’ll be happy being left on her own for a few hours with no issues at all. She also travels well – what a good girl!! Marnie will be best suited to a pet free home at the moment – she has lived with other dogs, and cats, previously, but she is currently a bit ‘defensive’ around other dogs and doesn’t like being barked at (she’ll have a bark back), so whilst she is settling down, finding her feet and bonding with a new family, we think a pet free environment will be best for her. Marnie has sadly had her ears ‘cropped’ at some point in her past – this makes her appearance much harsher than the reality of what she is really like and we really hope people can see past this and see her for the loving big softie that she really is. She’s an amazing girl who deserves the absolute world from now on.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER MARNIE EITHER A PERMANANT HOME, OR A TEMPORARY FOSTER HOME WHILE SHE WAITS TO FIND HER FOREVER HOME – SHE REALLY NEEDS TO BE IN A HOME ENVIRONMENT ASAP **** ALL COSTS FOR DOGS IN FOSTER CARE ARE COVERED BY OUR CHARITY **

Patsy, a 4 years old female Unknown available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Patsy

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age4 years
BreedUnknown

Patsy is a gorgeous medium/large sized bully breed – around 33kg, so is quite a chunky girl but is very chilled out and easy going. We do not know her exact age, but estimate her to be around 4 yrs old. Patsy needs a calm/quiet household – she is such a good girl who is very easy and undemanding around the house – she just needs a calm, confident person to understand her. She walks nicely on lead and is very low energy, so just needs a couple of shorter walks per day. Patsy is ‘OK’ with other dogs around similar size to her, and has shared a home with a male dog previously, but we think she will do best as the only dog. She is a definite no to cats! Patsy is clean in the house, is absolutely fine to be left alone for a few hours. She can get easily over excited for eg with visitors, and needs clear boundaries and structure to keep her nice and calm. She thrives on a good routine. She will need a home with direct access to a private secure garden that she can sunbathe in to her hearts content and lounge around chomping on her beloved tennis balls! Patsy will be a dream for the right home – she has tons of character and really deserves to find her forever home with someone who ideally has Bully experience (or larger breed savvy) who will give her life after clearly having such a rubbish start to life. As is common with Bully breeds, Patsy does have very sensitive skin and is prone to ear infections and skin flare ups, which needs maintenance, the right diet (grain free fish based food seems best for her), and she currently takes Apoquel.** PLEASE FILL IN AN ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER PATSY THE FOREVER HOME SHE DESERVES **** PLEASE NOTE: PATSY IS ALSO LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT FOSTER HOME WHILE SHE WAITS FOR A PERMANENT HOME **

Polly, a 5 years old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Polly

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

Polly may have short little legs, but this doesn’t stop her! She is 2.5 yrs old and is a Staffy/Bulldog type – she’s short and chunky with a great wiggle as she walks! Polly is a happy, giddy little girl who needs a home who love a dog with a bit of a cheeky, sassy, stubborn personality – she’s a typical bull breed! Polly is very clean and quiet in her kennel, so appears to be housetrained and we think she’ll be fine to be left for a few hours. She loves getting out for her walks and is strong for her size and sets off at a good pace when she walks, so does need someone who can safely manage her when she pulls, but when she’s away from kennels she does settle. She is not dog friendly, and is very distracted when she sees another dog out and about, and will pull towards dogs until she knows they are well out of sight. She needs a pet free home with fully secure garden. Polly will be the perfect little girl for a family who know, love and are confident with Staffy/Bulldog types.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER POLLY THE FOREVER HOME SHE NEEDS **

Sunny, a 1 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Sunny

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age1 year
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

1 yr old Sunny the Staffy cross needs an urgent home (or foster home). She is a super friendly girl who loves people, and loves to snuggle! She is excitable when people visit the home as she’s a big puppy, but is actually quite chilled out in the home generally. Sunny can get frustrated when she sees other dogs, and excited when passing people and will pull towards them, so needs some work on this to help her with her neutrality. She will need a home who have previous Staffy experience who can manage her around other dogs and understand that she will not be social with all dogs she meets – she will react if another dog reacts at her, for example. She is still so young and she still has lots to learn, but is super trainable and will be a fantastic girl when she finds the right home environment and people to help her thrive.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN HELP SUNNY **
