About HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Helping Yorkshire Poundies (HYPS) was founded in 2012 by Amanda Pollard Saville after she became aware of the fate facing dogs on death row in overcrowded pounds. What began as a one-person effort—personally funding boarding, veterinary care, and transport—quickly grew into a dedicated team as others joined the mission. The charity provides sanctuary, protection, and treatment for abandoned or stray dogs at immediate risk of euthanasia, using foster homes and emergency boarding kennels until a rescue space or forever home is found. While primarily focused on Yorkshire, HYPS will also help dogs outside the region when resources allow. At its heart, the charity exists to give vulnerable dogs the time, safety, and second chance they would not otherwise have.

Blossom, a 8 months old female Cane Corso available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

BreedCane Corso

Blossom is an approx 8 month old Cane Corso puppy who is the most beautiful girl and now ready to find her perfect home. This special girl really has been through so much – she was found tied up and abandoned with a broken leg and was emaciated. She was absolutely terrified. She has surgery to repair her leg, and we moved her into foster care where she’s been doing really well. Blossom needs a home with breed experience who can give her the ongoing training and understanding that Cane Corso need. She is very typical of her breed – so loving, affectionate and a big goofy puppy with her people, and is naturally unsure of strangers (but soon comes round) – this is very typical of her breed – they love their people, and are naturally suspicious of strangers. Blossom can be left for a few hours, can live with another dog (a larger breed neutered male would be ideal), and can possibly live with a confident cat. She is in foster with young children, but as she’s now an excitable big puppy, she’s a bit too boisterous at times to live with little ones, so older children upwards would be best. Please note: Blossom has just had surgery for her cherry eye, so in this photo her eyes are still a bit swollen, but this will subside soon. After all she’s been through, we now urgently need to find Blossom a home where she can finally settle, and start the life she deserves.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER BLOSSOM A 5* CANE CORSO SAVVY HOME **

BreedBulldog

Little Brenda Bulldog steals everyones hearts wherever she goes! She’s just amazing – with that cheeky smile and sassy little wiggle as she walks you can’t not smile along with her! Brenda was a stray and not microchipped – we estimate her to be around 4 yrs old. She enjoys her walks, but won’t be wanting long hikes – more of a nice potter around the park and then back for a snooze and cuddle! Brenda walks nicely on lead and is fine around other dogs. We do think she’ll want to be the only dog in the home though so she won’t have to share all the attention! She would love to find a family who know and love Bulldogs, understand their fabulous quirky personalities and will treat her like the Princess she is!!** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER BRENDA BULLDOG HER DREAM HOME **

Brian, a 7 years old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Brian

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age7 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

Big brindle Brian is a real character (in the best way!). If you love big, daft, soft brindles, then look no further than our Bri! He is 7 yrs old and is possibly Staffy x Rottweiler, or Mastiff and is a very handsome boy with the best smile! To give an idea of his size – he weighs 34kg. Brian has so much personality and has also clearly had lots of training before – he knows lots of commands, and even sits at the kerb to wait to cross the road! He is immaculately clean in his kennel, so we are confident that he’s fully housetrained. Brian walks well on lead and loves to get out for a walk. He does bark at dogs if they’re too close, but we believe this to be over excitement/frustration. He needs some sensible management around other dogs, and will need to be the only pet in the home. Brian is just one of those dogs that you can’t not love – he really deserves a home and we know how much joy he will bring to his new family.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN GIVE BRIAN HIS FOREVER HOME **

Franklin, a 5 years old male Cane Corso available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Franklin

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedCane Corso

Franklin the Cane Corso is searching for a breed experienced placement. He has just turned 5 yrs old and is a typical Corso with typical breed traits – when Franklin knows his person, he bonds very closely and is an absolute star. He is naturally wary of strangers, and needs slow and careful introductions to new people. Again, typical of his natural breed traits, Franklin will be territorial of his home, and will need careful management in place as he will not welcome strangers into his home. A kennel set up for him to be in when there are visitors would work perfectly for him. Franklin needs a home in a countryside/rural setting and must be confidently and safely managed on his walks as he can be reactive on lead. Secure off lead paddocks/fields to exercise in rather than formal lead walks would be ideal for him – he would be very happy with a good run and then to relax for the rest of the day. He loves splashing in water too, so his dream would be to have access to some water to play in! At the kennels where Franklin is currently living, he loves to run and play with other larger breed dogs in secure paddocks – he wouldn’t be able to share a home space with another dog, but if he was to live in a kennel setup, he could bond with another female large breed dog for exercising with. No cats! He will need a child free home. We know that Franklin needs a very special and specific home, but there HAS to be the right people out there who know, understand and love this incredible breed – he will be the most incredible, loyal dog in the right environment.** WE ARE HAPPY FOR FRANKLIN TO BE A SUPPORTED ‘FOREVER FOSTER’ DOG AND ARE VERY OPEN TO DISCUSSING OPTIONS FOR HIM TO GIVE HIM THE LIFE HE DESERVES **** PLEASE FILL IN AN ONLINE FORM IF YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE TO HELP FRANKLIN **

Gomez, a 12 years old male Crossbreed available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Gomez

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age12 years
BreedCrossbreed

Handsome Mr Gomez is 12 yrs old and looking for his dream retirement home. Gomez is a medium sized Crossbreed – possibly Staffy X Labrador? He arrived into our care having lost his owner, which he clearly struggled with and was understandably very anxious. He is now in foster care and is a much happier boy. He is a real character who is quite cheeky and very unique! Gomez is fully housetrained and settles well in the home. He is enjoying his walks and walks nicely on lead. He can be a bit shouty at some dogs, and others he doesn’t mind. Once introduced, he can happily walk with other dogs. We think he’ll prefer to be the only king of the castle and are looking for a pet free home for him – he loves to be centre of attention! Mr G doesn’t like to be left alone, so needs a lot of company – he’s the type of boy who will be the most fabulous companion and will bond deeply with his new owner, so will be a fabulous companion. He is in good health for his age – he has no fur on the top of his paws, as he has licked them a lot in the past – we think this was a combination of anxiety and because they were itchy, so he has been on anti itch medication (Zenrelia), which has helped and they are now looking much better – he hopefully will not need this long term, but is something to be aware of. He is a bit stiff on his legs, and has started on inflammatory pain relief for his legs (Rimadyl) and he seems to do well on this, so would benefit from this long term to keep him comfortable and active (he has 6 months of pain relief to go to his new home with). Mr G may be a senior, but he has so much of life left to enjoy and we are reaching for the stars to find him that special person who he can enjoy life with.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER MR G THE RETIREMENT HOME HE NEEDS **

Jess, a 2 years old female French Bulldog available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Jess

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedFrench Bulldog

This super cute little girl is 2 yr old Jess the Frenchie! She is very ready to find a family who will give her all the love, playtime and cuddles she wants! Jess is such a good girl and a typical Frenchie who can be excitable, but also settles well. As she loves food so much she forgets her manners with treats sometimes and can be snatchy, so she would be best in a home with older children upwards for now. Jess settles well on her own and shows no signs of seperation anxiety, so she should be fine to be left for a few hours on her own. She has plenty of energy, enjoys her walks and is fit and active for her breed. She has shown no issues around other dogs and may be able to live with another well matched dog. French Bulldogs are sadly the ‘new Staffys’ with so many finding themselves in rescue now – if you have adopted Staffys before, please consider adopting a Frenchie if you love the smaller bull breeds, and their cheeky, excitable energy and love for people. Jess is a little cracker!!** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER JESS HER FOREVER HOME **

Lyla, a 3 years old female Unknown available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Lyla

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age3 years
BreedUnknown

Love bull breeds?? Then meet the amazing Lyla!! She is approx 3 yrs old and urgently needs a home. Lyla is a typical Bully who loves everyone she meets and loves attention – she’s cheeky, playful, hilarious and has so much character. Lyla can be a strong girl if she pulls on lead, so needs someone used to bull breeds who is confident in handling her, but generally she walks quite well and isn’t actually a super high energy girl. She isn’t dog friendly, and needs a dog/pet free home with direct access to a fully secure garden. Please don’t let this put you off Lyla as she is very manageable and just needs someone who is used to bull breeds. She has been around children with no issues, but can be a bit boisterous at times when she’s excited, so she will do best in a calmer home with older children upwards. Lyla just needs to be given a chance – she would absolutely love to be someone’s Princess.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER LYLA THE HOME SHE NEEDS – WE WOULD ALSO BE HAPPY FOR HER TO BE PLACED ON A FOSTER WITH A VIEW TO ADOPT BASIS **

Marnie, a 6 years old female Bulldog available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Marnie

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedBulldog

Marnie is amazing – she LOVES everyone she meets! She is a 6 yr old American Bulldog and an absolute big softie who greets everyone with the wiggliest bum! Marnie needs a home (or foster) with a family who have large breed experience just because she’s a big girl, so has strength behind her if she does pull on lead, but she mostly walks very well on lead and listens well to asking her to slow up if she’s getting a bit excited, but when she does pull to something excited, she will need someone confident and capable of handling her. Marnie is fully housetrained, is very quiet and settled when she’s left on her own, and doesn’t chew, so we think she’ll be happy being left on her own for a few hours with no issues at all. She also travels well – what a good girl!! Marnie will be best suited to a pet free home at the moment. Marnie has sadly had her ears ‘cropped’ at some point in her past – this makes her appearance much harsher than the reality of what she is really like and we really hope people can see past this and see her for the loving big softie that she really is. Please note: Marnie is NOT a banned breed (XL Bully), and we have official paperwork to support this. She’s just an all round amazing girl who deserves the absolute world from now on.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER MARNIE EITHER A PERMANANT HOME, OR A TEMPORARY FOSTER HOME WHILE SHE WAITS TO FIND HER FOREVER HOME – SHE REALLY NEEDS TO BE IN A HOME ENVIRONMENT ASAP **** ALL COSTS FOR DOGS IN FOSTER CARE ARE COVERED BY OUR CHARITY **

Patsy, a 4 years old female Unknown available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Patsy

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age4 years
BreedUnknown

Patsy is a gorgeous medium/large sized bully breed – around 33kg, so is quite a chunky girl but is very chilled out and easy going. We do not know her exact age, but estimate her to be around 4 yrs old. Patsy needs a calm/quiet household – she is such a good girl who is very easy and undemanding around the house – she just needs a calm, confident person to understand her. She walks nicely on lead and is very low energy, so just needs a couple of shorter walks per day. Patsy is ‘OK’ with other dogs around similar size to her, and has shared a home with a male dog previously, but we think she will do best as the only dog. She is a definite no to cats! Patsy is clean in the house, is absolutely fine to be left alone for a few hours. She can get easily over excited for eg with visitors, and needs clear boundaries and structure to keep her nice and calm. She thrives on a good routine. She will need a home with direct access to a private secure garden that she can sunbathe in to her hearts content and lounge around chomping on her beloved tennis balls! Patsy will be a dream for the right home – she has tons of character and really deserves to find her forever home with someone who ideally has Bully experience (or larger breed savvy) who will give her life after clearly having such a rubbish start to life. As is common with Bully breeds, Patsy does have very sensitive skin and is prone to ear infections and skin flare ups, which needs maintenance, the right diet (grain free fish based food seems best for her), and she currently takes Apoquel.** PLEASE FILL IN AN ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER PATSY THE FOREVER HOME SHE DESERVES **** PLEASE NOTE: PATSY IS ALSO LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT FOSTER HOME WHILE SHE WAITS FOR A PERMANENT HOME **

Pip, a 2 years old female French Bulldog available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Pip

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedFrench Bulldog

Pip is a gorgeous little Frenchie crossbreed (possibly with a bit of Jack Russell) who has the most beautiful big brown eyes. She is 2 yrs old and 10kg in weight (and maybe needs to lose a kg but don’t tell her that!). She is a sensitive little soul who was very frightened when she first arrived with us, but it’s mainly the kennel environment that worries her and she comes to life in our office area/away from kennels on her walks. She LOVES playing with her toys! Pip does bark at other dogs when she’s out on her walks, but we think this will settle once she’s relaxed away from kennels. She will need to be the only dog in her new home. Pip will need direct access to a secure garden. She settles well in her kennel and is now totally clean. She’s such a lovely little girl who is so sad in kennels and really needs to be in a home.** PLEASE FILL IN AN ONLINE FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER PIP THE HOME SHE NEEDS, OR A FOSTER HOME **

Skye, a 4 months old female Siberian Husky available for adoption from HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies in South Yorkshire

HYPS - Helping Yorkshire Poundies

Skye

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age4 months
BreedSiberian Husky

4 month old Husky x Akita puppy Skye is looking for her dream home. She is a super sweet little puppy who has thrived in foster care. She loves other dogs and really benefits from their company, so we are looking for a home with at least 1 other resident dog – a neutered male of similar breed would be perfect. She is young enough to be placed with cats. Skye will need a relatively active home where she will have ongoing training and socialisation as she’s still a baby. Skye will need a lot of company – her foster carers have been working hard on crate training and helping her settle on her own, but she isn’t ready for a home where she would be left for long. She really will make the most wonderful family member and will continue to thrive in with a family who have some previous experience with her breed types.** PLEASE FILL IN A PRE ADOPTION FORM IF YOU CAN OFFER SKYE HER PERFECT FOREVER HOME **
