Leicester Animal Rescue is dedicated to providing dogs and cats with a long-term, permanent home where they can feel safe, loved, and secure. Based at the Fairwinds Shelter, the rescue takes in healthy cats and dogs, carrying out temperament checks and reviewing medical and vaccination records before acceptance. Animals in their care are given the stability and attention they need while waiting for the right forever home. Those interested in adoption are encouraged to view the animals available for rehoming and follow the charity’s careful, welfare-focused process.

Ajay is an ex racing greyhound which means he has not been in a home, therefore, may not be house trained. He can be homed with children over the age of 10 years old and seems fine with other dogs but can’t be homed with small furries. He walks well on a lead and loves a soft toy to play with

Bracken is with us due to her owner curently having nowhere to live and could not afford to keep Bracken. She loves a fuss and is a very excitable young dog with lots of energy. She is used to being around young children and seems good with other dogs but has not been around cats

Adorable Cece came to us due to her owner’s ill health. Poor Cece has been with us for a few months now but has sadly not found the right home. Although she can be a little hesitant to meet new people, she is an absolute love bug once she knows you. Cece generally walks well on a lead but can be strong if she does decide to pull or if she’s feeling stubborn. She has started to be stand offish towards strangers when on walks as she feels like she needs to protect her owner and can get too carried away with play where she can jump up and mouth so she does need someone who will set boundaries from the start. Ideally, Cece is looking for a home with someone with experience of the breed. We will home her with children over the age of 12 years old. She would prefer to be the only pet in the home although she has been ok with visiting dogs with her previous owners. She also doesn’t like cats. Cece is possessive of her food and toys with dogs. She’s a big girl (approx 45kg!) who can sometimes be a bit boisterous. She loves to play and enjoys having a fuss. Sweet Cece will make a loving and loyal pet, she just needs someone to give her a chance to decompress and settle in

Lovely Maisy is a real sweetheart once she knows you (which doesn’t take her long!). She can bark on first meeting someone but she is a friendly girl. Sweet Maisy has been with us a few months now and has had zero interest, which is sad when she can be such a good girl. She has not lived with children so can be homed with kids over the age of 12 years old. She does not like other animals and would need to be the only pet. Maisy can be strong on the lead so will need some training but has been doing well on a halti since being with us. She can be reactive when passing some dogs but will also walk calmly alongside others. Nothing makes Maisy happier than playing ball, she’d play all day long and she’s collected an extensive collection of balls since being with us! She sits and takes treats gently. She is a very clean girl in her kennel and always waits to go toilet outside. This gorgeous girl deserves a loving home and will make a very loyal companion.

Millie & Ella have sadly been returned to us after 9 months due to Ella not getting on with the child in the home. They are a bonded pair so do need to be homed together but can’t be homed with children due to Ella’s dislike of children. Both are very friendly girls and can be ok with other dogs, Ella can bark at some and they would probably suit a home with no cats. Both walk well on a lead

Mutley is still growing and will be a medium/large dog. He is a friendly, excitable, bouncy young pup who was taken to the pound as a stray with wounds and scabs on his back which have since healed. He seems friendly with other dogs but we do not know what he is like with cats. Because of his unknown history, we will home him with children over the age of 12 years old

Sweet boy Rudy is with us due to him being homed online and his new owner’s had him for 3 days but they work full time and Rudy does not like being left. Rudy can be good with dogs when introduced properly and has briefly lived with a dog but when he is walking he can bark at passing dogs so this will need working on. he is good motivated and can easily be distracted whilst on walks. He has previously been homed but has been returned due to how much work he does need when out walking. Rudy is a very affectionate boy and can still be quite puppy like in his behaviour. He loves to have a good blast around our secure field and enjoys playing with toys. He’s a clean boy in his kennel. Rudy can’t be homed with cats and he has previously lived with children from the age of 6 years old. This lovely boy has been with us since August and he definitely deserves his forever home. He will make a loving and loyal pet.

Sweet girl Susan came to us from the pound with no history. We are currently unsure what she’s like around other animals but she seems friendly towards dogs when passing on walks so far. We will home her with children over 12 years. Susan is very friendly girl.

Siblings Ted & Poppy are with us due to their owner going into a care home. They are a friendly pair, Ted being a bit more independent and Poppy does like to sit on your knee. They both love a fuss and can be homed with children over the age of 7 years old. They are ok with dogs although they can bark at some passing dogs, usually initiated by Poppy but they do not like cats
