About Mayflower Sanctuary

Mayflower Sanctuary was established on 6 June 2003 by volunteers from Animals in Need 2000 after years of fundraising and dedication to creating a permanent rescue facility. What began as a modest site with minimal amenities has grown into a well-equipped sanctuary designed to provide comfort and care for animals in need. Over the years, generous bequests and charitable funding have enabled significant improvements, including a welcoming reception area and modern cattery blocks. Today, Mayflower Sanctuary continues to go from strength to strength, offering a safe haven and a fresh start for vulnerable animals.

Bella, a 7 years old female Unknown available for adoption from Mayflower Sanctuary in South Yorkshire

Bella

SexFemale

BreedUnknown

Our Bella is a stunner! She’s a shy girl of around 7 years old, looking for a home where she can settle and come out of her shell. Bella is looking for owners who can support her and build her confidence – she can be worried about being on her own, and may require some additional support around other dogs (The centre can provide advice on helping her with these). Bella loves her carers, and enjoys her walks and pottering about the paddock here at the centre, and with time and patience she will make a wonderful companion.

Blu, a Unknown old male Unknown available for adoption from Mayflower Sanctuary in South Yorkshire

Blu

SexMale

BreedUnknown

This handsome boy is Blue! Full of fun, Blu loves to play, and he’s waiting for a new family to share adventures with. He is a stocky little dog, and sometimes a bit of a bull in a china shop, but once he settles down, he loves to share a cuddle with you. Blu is good with other dogs, but can be quite full on, and therefore any dogs would need to be confident and used to ‘wrestling’ style play. As he is still entire (the centre can discuss the reasons for this) he might better with a neutered male companion at this point. Blue is a wonderful chap, full of personality – could you offer him a loving new home?

Button, a Unknown old male Unknown available for adoption from Mayflower Sanctuary in South Yorkshire

Button is looking for an extra special home with lots of time and love to give. He arrived with us as his owner very sadly passed away, and his world has been turned upside down. He is a timid, but gentle boy looking for a quiet home. Button hasn’t seen much of the outside world, so a new owner will need to gradually build up his confidence on walks away from home. He has been friendly to other dogs here at the centre, so a confident, gentle companion dog to show him the ropes may help. He is not used to being left, and quickly becomes worried, so a home where he will spend minimal time alone and who can support him with this (with the centres support) will suit him best. Could you offer Button the time and space he needs to heal?

Once she knows and trusts you, she is an absolute love bug; playful, affectionate and and around wonderful personality.Isla’s perfect people will have a quiet home, without too much hustle and bustle or lots of visitors, and willing to follow guidance from the centre on managing her feelings around new people.Isla is super food motivated and very quick to learn, and this will help new owners to build her confidence. Isla is happy to walk around other dogs, and we would consider a home with another companion subject to introductions.Isla will make a wonderful companion, she just needs a chance to shine. Could you give her back her sparkle?

Nala, a Unknown old female Unknown available for adoption from Mayflower Sanctuary in South Yorkshire

Nala

This sweet girl came to us in a very sad set of circumstances. She has been very much loved and well cared for and is now looking for a new home where she can start a fresh. Nala has found kennels a little daunting, so she is still building her confidence. She is very much a people person here, and loves her favourite carers, however can be shy until she gets settled into the routine. Whilst Nala is happy to walk around other dogs, she can be unsure of how to interact, and quite nervous, therefore a home as an only dog might be better for now. We may consider an introduction for a very calm, placid male who will give her space and time to settle. A home with secondary school age children, who can give her time and space to settle would be best. Could you offer her the chance she needs?

Ollie (red) and Maddie (cream). Ollie is 7 years and Maddie is 5. Ollie and Maddie are wonderful little dogs full of character! They love being out and about, and enjoy a fuss, although can sometimes be a little hesitant with new people until they get to know you. Ollie and Maddie are good friends and would love a home together, although they would like to be the only pets in the home. They aren’t used to too much hustle and bustle, so would prefer a quieter home with older children (if any). Two is definitely company for this pair, and anyone who adopts them will be very lucky …is that you ?

This handsome boy is Stitch – a 3 year old French Bulldog. Sadly brought to us due to his owner’s ill health, Stitch is on the lookout for a new family to love. He is very affectionate once he knows you, and loves being out and about exploring and adventuring with his favourite humans! Stitch would benefit from some support around other dogs – he can be friendly with some but is a bit conflicted, and doesn’t always know how best to go about making friends! Like many Frenchies, Stitch is full of fun and personality, could you be his perfect new home ?
