About Mayflower Sanctuary

Mayflower Sanctuary was established on 6 June 2003 by volunteers from Animals in Need 2000 after years of fundraising and dedication to creating a permanent rescue facility. What began as a modest site with minimal amenities has grown into a well-equipped sanctuary designed to provide comfort and care for animals in need. Over the years, generous bequests and charitable funding have enabled significant improvements, including a welcoming reception area and modern cattery blocks. Today, Mayflower Sanctuary continues to go from strength to strength, offering a safe haven and a fresh start for vulnerable animals.

Ace, a 4 years old male French Bulldog available for adoption from Mayflower Sanctuary in South Yorkshire

Mayflower Sanctuary

Ace

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedFrench Bulldog

Like name, like nature! This handsome chap is Ace and he’s a 4 year old Frenchie, arriving with us due to no fault of his own. He’s quite a laid back chap – his priorities in life involve food, fuss and a good roll in the grass! He has been good with other dogs here at the centre, but generally prefers a quieter life so would prefer any canine companion to be happy for a little play, but more woah, than go! If you’re a Frenchie lover, then Ace is your perfect companion – why not come and meet

Benji, a 1 year old male Labrador available for adoption from Mayflower Sanctuary in South Yorkshire

Mayflower Sanctuary

Benji

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedLabrador

Benji is looking for active and patient owners to offer him a loving new home. He is an affectionate boy who loves company, and is very much used to being around people most of the time. When he knows you, he is a lively dog, so a home where he will get plenty of exercise will be best for him. Benji has been friendly with other dogs here, so a playful companion may be possible. He has a history of separation related anxiety in a home, so needs time left to be built up very gradually, once he is fully settled and established. If you’re looking for a dog to train and adventure with Benji could be your dog – could you offer him a loving new home?

Bolt, a 5 years old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from Mayflower Sanctuary in South Yorkshire

Mayflower Sanctuary

Bolt

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

This handsome chap is Bolt. Originally arriving as an unclaimed stray, we don’t know much about his past, but we’re on the lookout for the perfect home to change his future. Bolt is generally quite a calm dog here at the centre, although he does love a good run around in the paddock, and has shown some interest in toys, even if he’s not quite sure what to do with them yet! Bolt will offer some basic commands, but as we suspect he is partially deaf (although difficult to know for sure how much hearing he has), sign language could be used to further training – he is food motivated and keen to learn. Bolt has been neutral around dogs here, and may be fine with a placid canine companion – he isn’t overly playful. Could you offer him a loving new home?

Cassie, a 1 year old male Lurcher available for adoption from Mayflower Sanctuary in South Yorkshire

Mayflower Sanctuary

Cassie

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedLurcher

Cassie is looking for a dedicated home looking for a fun loving and active dog to enjoy training. She is very much a blank canvas in an overgrown puppy’s body, needing to start from scratch in all areas. Cassie is a real velcro dog, and needs a home where she will not be left at all whilst she is settling, and building her confidence alone – she is likely to have separation anxiety in a new home. She does however have great social skills around other dogs off lead (although can be frustrated, and therefore vocal on lead), and loves to play, so an existing canine companion will provide a fun outlet for her energy. Cassie will make a lovely companion with time, patience and training – do you have a lurcher spaced sofa, and the experience to support her into adulthood?

These beauties are looking for a home together. (Mika black female and Kiki the cream.) Mika and Kiki came into us due to their owners ill health. They are very sweet dogs – they are bonded but can walk separately with no issues. Both are not phased about other dogs and are very dog and people friendly. These girls don’t mind being left alone for a short time as they have each other for company. They really love laying out in the sun together and are best friends. Please give us a call if you feel you can offer this lovely pair their happy ever after. They are patiently waiting for your call!
