About Mayhew

Mayhew is a long-established animal welfare charity offering a wide range of support for pets and the people who care for them. Founded in 1886, the charity focuses on keeping people and their animals together through community support, dog and cat adoption, and access to free or low-cost veterinary care for those who may otherwise struggle to afford it. Alongside its UK work, Mayhew runs international welfare programmes aimed at humane dog population management, rabies control, and education. Entirely funded by public donations, the charity combines hands-on rescue and rehoming with preventative care and global advocacy to improve animal welfare both locally and worldwide.

She can become worried in busy environments and around some strangers and dogs, sometimes barking towards them, so will need her owner to advocate for her and provide her with reassurance and guidance when needed. Blossom wears a muzzle when out and about, as a safety precaution. She enjoys gentle, quiet, walks where she can sniff to her heart's content and take in her surroundings at her own pace. Blossom is looking for an experienced person or family that will have the time to continue with her training and socialisation and provide her with the mental and physical stimulation she needs. Bob is deaf but that does not stop him from showing off his skills, he responds well to his sign language and checks in with his people regularly on walks. Reggie is a sweet and friendly chap with a sensitive side. He is very affectionate with those he knows and loves to snuggle down next to his favourite people for strokes. He enjoys going on gentle walks where he can potter along, taking in the smells of his environment and meeting the odd dog pal along the way. He can get a little worried at times when out and about so will need an owner that will provide him with reassurance and guidance when needed. This lovely lad has had a lot of big changes in his life recently and is looking for a home with an understanding family or person that will have the time to provide him with the care and support he needs to thrive. He would make a wonderfully rewarding and loving companion for the right match.Reggie can live in a ground floor flat with direct access to a private garden, for ease of toileting. He can be vocal at times so this should be considered. He could live with secondary school age children, providing they give him space when needed. Reggie is a brachycephalic breed type, his adopter will need to be knowledgeable about brachy care and have researched his breed. They will need to take care with excessive exercise and hot weather, maintain his weight and ensure his skin folds are kept clean. Reggie presented at the Mayhew with some sore skin which was successfully treated. It is possible that he may be prone to skin infections in the future. He also has a history of ear canal inflammation and infection for which he is on ongoing medication for and doing well with. He will need his ears cleaned regularly to keep them healthy. Reggie has also shown some signs of potential, overnight urinary incontinence. Adopters will need to monitor his overall health and take him to their private vet as and when needed.
