Aussie, a 8 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Aussie

Essex
SexMale
Age8 years
BreedGreyhound

This handsome boy is Aussie, sadly he is looking for a new home through no fault of his own. Unfortunately Aussie's owner is unable to care for him due to health issues. This decision has not come lightly to the owner. Aussie has been in boarding kennels before his owner made the decision, he has shown himself to be a very good boy. Aussie is a Sighthound cross from Romania and has been in this country since late 2017/ early 2018 and he was only a pup when he came over (judging by his passport). He is 8 years old now and is used to home comforts. Aussie is halti trained and was used to regular walks with a dog walker, (now exercised daily on our paddock). His previous owner has said he is a very good boy in the house and absolutely adores affection. Aussie was used to a quiet home, with a solo owner but due to his outgoing personality, he could potentially live with a family who have teenage children. Aussie is said not to mind other dogs, providing they do not get in his face / or overly interested in him. It would be so lovely to find Aussie another home, sooner rather than later.

Bear, a Unknown old male Unknown available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Bear

Essex
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedUnknown

Bear had a really tragic start to life, left to fend for himself in a flat with just someone putting food through the letter box for him. He was understandably shy and timid of people when he arrived at Mutts but over time and with patience, he has become trusting of people again. He's a happy chap, who likes his food and playing on the paddock. He likes the attention of people. So far in kennels, he is good with other dogs but has not yet been cat tested. This youngster is hoping someone will show him the life he deserves.

Bow, a 6 years old female Collie available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Bow

Essex
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedCollie

This is Bow, she is a lovely little dog but she's not an overly cuddly dog (will sit on your lap and allow you to pet her head and back). She can be touch shy of her back end and legs, so this is something to bear in mind if you are considering adopting her. Bow is an active little dog, so would enjoy a home with someone who can fulfil her mentally and physically. She is not a couch potato. Bow is a Collie (possibly cross), she is small for a Collie and is around 6 years old. Bow is looking for a home without young children although she could potentially live with dog experienced teenagers. Bow shows no interest in dogs at the kennels, she ignores them whilst exercising and does not react on lead.

Charlie, a 7 years old female Cocker Spaniel X English Springer Spaniel available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Charlie

Essex
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedCocker Spaniel X English Springer Spaniel

This is Charlie. We’ve been taking the time to assess him, so we could be certain on the type of home he requires. Charlie is a Cocker spaniel (possibly crossed with a springer), he is 7 years old. Charlie is looking for an experienced handler, ideally someone who understands the breed/s. Spaniels are working dogs and most need an outlet to keep them happy in life - Charlie is no exception. Charlie is toy/ food motivated and is a very quick learner. He really enjoys activities that get his brain working - he would not be happy with just a walk round the block. Charlie will need structure in the house - no sleeping on the sofa or on human beds. He has had negative experiences in his first home which means he becomes worried when people come close to his face (A child use to hold him by his ears so she could kiss him). We would recommend crating him at night. Here at the kennels, he is truly a lovely dog. We don’t pressure him or overwhelm him with affection/ fusses (don’t get me wrong, he does love a good fuss!). No children. Can live with other dogs. Has lived with a cat - no issue.

Darwin, a 8 years old male Belgian Malinois available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Darwin

Essex
SexMale
Age8 years
BreedBelgian Malinois

Darwin is a gorgeous Malinois x Sighthound. Despite Darwin's grey face, he has lovely white teeth, so Darwin could range from 5-8 years old. In kennels he is a very friendly chap. Darwin will need 6 foot or higher fences and he won't be able to be left in the garden alone. Darwin has not been tested with cats or dogs yet but this can be arranged if needed. He adores everyone he meets. Please don't be put off by his gorgeous frosted face, dogs who are darker around the muzzle/eyes tend to go grey earlier in life. He still loves to run around the paddock. Another one of his favourite activities is sunbathing, we often see him catching a few ZZZs while he's out on the paddock. It's tiring work being so handsome! Darwin has been an angel at dog school around the other dogs and even said hello to Mutt's dog Merlin. Darwin is a superb boy. Always has a smile on his face and rarely lets anything get him down. During his time with us, Darwin has shown himself to be a lovely chap, super friendly to everyone he meets but it appears he can be food possessive. As long as food is kept away and he is left alone while eating, we are sure he can still be the perfect companion for someone as he learns that nobody is going to take his food away. Everyone who has met Darwin in person will tell you how extremely loving he is. All Darwin is looking for is someone to love him and teach him that he doesn't need to worry that his food is going to be taken away. We won't ever know what his past was but we are guessing that he was starved. He was very skinny when he came in to Mutts, which probably accounts for his possessiveness over food. We do know he can have the most amazing future with the right family. Darwin whilst at the kennels, has proved to have an excellent temperament around other dogs. Darwin will need an experienced dog home, to help him feel safe. He does have some resourcing issues but with management and patience we believe he can still be suited to home life. He will need a child free home. Preferably the only dog in the home but we would potentially consider another home where the owner is very experienced.

Linus

Essex
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedWhite Swiss Shepherd Dog

The newest arrival at Mutts is Linus (Shepherd cross, 4 years old) Linus is looking for his own special family. He has known what it is like to live in a home and is clearly missing that kind of environment, so we are hoping that a lucky family will come along soon. Hhere is what we know so far… In kennels, Linus can be a little shy but he is still happy and friendly. He loves being out on the paddock, so would love to join you on all your adventures. We will be looking for a quieter and more experienced home for Linus. Preferably one that has owned German Shepherds (or GSD crosses) in the past. Linus will need a home without children or possibly dog experienced older teenagers. Linus can play rough with other dogs but he could possibly live with another dog, who is well socialised. BreedPoodle

This beautiful girl is Mischa. Mischa is a Doodle (Poodle cross ) She is around a standard Poodle size. She is 2 and half years old. She has a super sweet and loving personality. Mischa has come from a home environment, with children. Unfortunately due to circumstances they are looking to rehome Mischa. She has issues with her urinary tract, which she has had since a puppy. We will be taking her to a specialist to fix the problem. (Any vet bills for pre-existing health problems can be covered by Mutts) Mischa will be having surgery next Tuesday. We are in desperate need of a foster for her to recover in, this could be up to a couple of weeks. She will need limited exercise on lead. A garden will be preferred (again will still be on lead exercise.) She is a good girl. Friendly with all people. Please feel free to call 01279 654785 if you can offer a foster home. We will need to raise funds for the more extensive research but we hope that the problem can be fixed. Mischa can live with children as long as they fully understand not to feed her human food. Mischa can be dog or cat tested.

Ringo, a Unknown old male German Shepherd available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Ringo

Essex
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedGerman Shepherd

This youngster is Ringo, he recently arrived from Romania with Rocky (not related). Ringo is a little timid at the moment but is warming up to us and showing his fun loving personality. Ringo will need someone patient and understanding to show him the world is a fun place, filled with adventures. Ringo could potentially benefit from living with another dog but we’re not opposed to a dog free home. Ringo could potentially live with understanding children, preferably older as little ones may accidentally scare him by their quick actions. Ringo can be cat tested. Ringo is a smaller Shepherd cross and is said to be coming up to a year old. Ringo shows great potential to be an amazing companion.

Mutts in Distress

Rizla

Essex
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedBelgian Malinois

This stunning boy is Rizla. He's a young Belgian Malinois who has found himself looking for a new home. This youngster ended up in a Uk pound where he was due to be pts, no fault of his own, the pounds are full with nowhere for the dogs to go. Rizla is one of the lucky few to make it out alive. So far in kennels, he seems a typical Mali, smart, intelligent and eager to please. He will need a strong handler preferably with working breed experience. Not dog tested but can be. Details about Rizla No cats. No caged animals (that he can see, possibly if they are kept in another room) Older children if any. Must be dog experienced.

Rupert, a 4 years old male Unknown available for adoption from Mutts in Distress in Essex

Mutts in Distress

Rupert

Essex
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedUnknown

Beautiful, gentle Rupert, is hoping to find himself a truly lovely forever home. We can only imagine the horrors he has endured. Our vet likely thinks his wounds are from being kept in his own urine/ faeces which caused the irritation to his skin and the urine burnt so badly it caused open wounds. (Obviously this is only an assumption and we can’t be 100% sure of his history.) His wounds are healing and the infections are clearing. He just needs a nice comfortable home to show him how lovely the world can be. So far, he has shown himself to be a very gentle and kind boy. A little shy at first, he just needs a kind and patient person who is willing to work with him. Rupert has shown himself to be a big lap dog and was quite happy to take my seat during tea break. He also likes a gentle fuss once he has got to know you a little bit. He likes to have a game with his toy in his kennel and might even know drop. We can see the potential this wonderful boy has, he will make someone very happy and amazing company. He could potentially live with dog savvy cats, we would recommend having a baby gate so the cats can get away if they please.(just while he’s settling in) Rupert can be dog tested, though he has no reaction to them when passing his kennel. We believe Rupert is a Dogue De Bordeaux cross and is likely around 4 years old.
