Anton, a Unknown old male Unknown available for adoption from Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter in Tyne and Wear

Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter

Anton

Tyne and Wear
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedUnknown

Anton is looking for an adult only home. He could potentially live with another dog, cat, or small animals. Anton came to us a very scared boy. He had been found tied to a fence and was understandably petrified. He didn’t know the people approaching him were there to help and warned them away with grumbles. Anton then arrived at the shelter and displayed the same fear response – he was so scared he didn’t even want to be looked at; he was completely shut down. Fast forward to now, and Anton has done amazingly! He is beginning to show us his fun and goofy side- he has grown very attached to certain members of staff and is really opening up with play bows, kisses, and leaning in for snuggles and fuss! Anton still has a long way to go – he is still a very scared boy which shows on his walks when outside of the shelter safety…but day by day, we see him sniff more, wag his tail a bit harder, and hold his head a little higher. Anton will need a very patient and experienced home to help him understand the world around him isn’t so scary and that he can be the playful pup we see flickers of here! We just know with the right home, and time, he will be an amazing friend to his new family as they help this special boy discover his true courage and capability. We have no doubt watching him learn and grow will bring true pride and joy to the home lucky enough to help him along his way! If you are interested in rehoming Anton, please fill out the application form below. Please note: due to limited resources we are unable to get back to everyone. If you do not hear from us you have been unsuccessful on this occasion. Apollo, a 3 years old male Bulldog available for adoption from Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter in Tyne and Wear

Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter

Apollo

Tyne and Wear
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedBulldog

Apollo could live with children 5+. He could live with other dogs and potentially cats and small animals (though we have no history on his behaviours around these animals). Apollo is a fabulous lad and a typical Bulldog who simply oozes personality and character! Apollo is a very friendly chap who can sometimes be a little over familiar…there is no such thing as as stranger to this boy and he greets everyone with the same boisterous enthusiasm and expectations of immediate belly rubs. He loves making friends and is happy to enjoy cuddles and fuss from everyone he meets! Apollo enjoys meeting other dogs and displays the same excitable behaviours as with humans so, if he is to go home with another dog, they will have to be tolerant of his eagerness to play and have fun! Apollo would benefit from an owner with a good understanding of bulldogs and their quirks…their goofy ways and their stubborn silliness! Apollo will bring so much fun and love to the home lucky enough to adopt him, there will certainly never be a dull moment with this lad around! Archer, a 4 years old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter in Tyne and Wear

Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter

Archer

Tyne and Wear
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

Archer is looking for an adult only home with no other animals. Archer is a typical, daft Staffie who is full of energy! He is always on the go, he doesn’t often stop to think and can get himself a bit silly and overexcited, which can result in some undesirable behaviours. Archer needs an experienced family, who have a good understanding of Bull breeds and their boisterous and full-on ways. His family will need to help him work on displaying more calm behaviours and regulating his emotions better. He means well, but he will require patient and committed owners who are prepared to put in the time and effort to his training. He needs an active family who can keep up with his energetic nature and take him on lots of lovely adventures. He will need plenty of both mental and physical enrichment to keep him happy and healthy in body and mind and to prevent him from becoming bored and frustrated – which he will struggle to cope with. Archer will undoubtedly require time, patience and effort when he first goes home, but we know he has so much potential to be a truly fantastic addition to join the right family on their outdoor adventures, we have no doubt he will immensely reward their commitment to him. If you are interested in rehoming Archer, please fill out the application form below. Please note: due to limited resources we are unable to get back to everyone. If you do not hear from us you have been unsuccessful on this occasion. Bagel can live with children 10+. she could live with other dogs and potentially cats and small animals. Bagel arrived into our care as a stray. Bagel is fun and friendly and has been great when meeting new people. Bagel has also been great when meeting other dogs; she is friendly and polite and seems keen to interact without being over the top. Bagel would love to find a home with a family who are happy to continue to build her confidence and who have plenty time to spoil her rotten and take on lots of lovely adventures! Barry, a 10 years old male Unknown available for adoption from Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter in Tyne and Wear

Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter

Barry

Tyne and Wear
SexMale
Age10 years
BreedUnknown

Barry could live with children aged 10+. He could potentially live with other dogs and cats or small animals, although we have no history of his behaviour around such animals. Barry is a young lad who has been a delight to get to know. He is polite, sweet and very very friendly…and still just a pup…a very big pup! Barry has shown the team he is very well mannered, especially for his age. He walks nicely on lead and greets everyone he meets with a waggy tail and a keenness for a cuddle!Barry absolutely loves spending times with his human friends so would love to find a home with a family who are around a lot of the time. Barry arrived into our care as a stray so we are not 100% of breed but he is a very big lad and very young so has much growing to do yet. Barry would benefit from a family with large breed experience with the confidence to handle his size. Barry has met a few different dogs in our care and can seem confused by how he is meant to interreact. If he was to go home with another dog, it would need to be calm and patient and ready to show Barry the ways of the world! Barry has recently enjoyed a week on foster but, through no fault of his own, was returned to the shelter. Barry was his delightful self in the home, full of love and very affectionate. He loved his walks and enjoyed a good sniffari! Barry is the type of dog who stops folks in their tracks – he is absolutely beautiful inside and out and has not put a paw wrong since arriving with us. Quite simply, a lovely boy looking for a lovely home! If you are interested in rehoming Barry, please fill out the application form below. Bear, a 6 years old male German Shepherd available for adoption from Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter in Tyne and Wear

Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter

Bear

Tyne and Wear
SexMale
Age6 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

Bear will need an adult only home and to be the only animal in the home. Bear is a fabulous lad to spend time with, he is cheeky and fun and a big ball of silliness. Bear can be boisterous and a little over the top at times. He is easily over-aroused and sometimes jumps up in his eagerness for attention! Bear loves his people and gets very excited to greet them…which sometimes means pulling to get there faster. Bear will need an owner who is physically strong enough to manage him and ideally has experience, or at lead a good knowledge, of the breed or guardian breeds. Bear is a bold and confident dog who is very intelligent and needs to be given something to think about, but he is also strong willed and powerful so this needs to be considered by his new family! Due to his sheer size he would ideally need a decent outdoor space and a large enough house to accommodate him comfortably. Bear has shown mixed reactions to dogs in our care – he appears frustrated and can be vocal. Bear will need a family who have the time and are committed to working with him to help rebuild his foundation and socialisation skills from which he can grown and flourish to help him regulate some of his big feeling. Bear is a beautiful boy inside and out and we just know in the right home he will make the most wonderful companion! If you are interested in rehoming Bear, please fill out the application form below. Please note: due to limited resources we are unable to get back to everyone. Coco, a 13 years old female Beagle available for adoption from Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter in Tyne and Wear

Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter

Coco

Tyne and Wear
SexFemale
Age13 years
BreedBeagle

Coco could live with children aged 13+. She would like to be the only animal in the home. Coco is a gorgeous and lovely little lady who adores spending time with her humans! She loves being made a fuss of and is a playful girl who will engage with a variety of different toys. She is super friendly and will greet her friends with a waggy tail and is always keen to have a cuddle! Coco loves getting out and about for nice long walks and, like a typical beagle, she loves a sniff! Coco would love to find an active family who enjoy adventures in the great outdoors allowing her to put that awesome nose to good use! Coco has displayed some discomfort around certain dogs in the shelter, though has also been fine with others. We feel Coco would simply rather have her own space from other dogs and be the sole focus of her human’s attention! Coco would benefit from a home who have knowledge / experience of her breed and the beagle ‘quirks’. She will need an energetic family who can offer her plenty of mental and physical enrichment to keep her happy and healthy in both body and mind! This sweet girl has been a pleasure to spend time with during her stay here at the shelter. She has so much love to give and we know she will make a brilliant addition to the right family. Delilah & Delores, a 2 years old female Crossbreed available for adoption from Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter in Tyne and Wear

Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter

Delilah & Delores

Tyne and Wear
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedCrossbreed

Delilah & Delores could live with children 10 +. They could live with other dogs and potentially cats and small animals. Delilah and Delores are both gorgeous, friendly and delightful girls who have not been a pick of bother throughout their stay with us. Initially, due to Delilah’s rehome journey being a little ahead of Delores’s, the girls were looking for homes separate from each other. However, the girls are so closely bonded and are so much fun together, whilst also being very well behaved, we are very much hoping we can find a home where they can stay together. Delilah and Delores are absolute superstars. They are tons of fun with all the laughs that boisterous bullies bring…whilst also being really well mannered, polite, sweet and snuggly girls. They walk well together without pulling, and have been super polite when meeting other animals – even ignoring cats as they pass. The girls would absolutely love to find a home where they can stay together, though, if we do not have any success and it no longer feels a possibility we are happy to explore individual homes still. The girls love attention and are very affectionate with their human friends so would love a home with a family who have plenty of time to spend with them giving belly rubs and playing with tug toys. The girls do enjoy being out an about and love a little wander greeting everyone with a waggy tail and making friends as they go. Delilah is definitely the more confident of the two – though Delores is not far behind, just ever so slightly more reserved. We can guarantee there will never be a dull moment with these two beauts around…and let’s face it…the only thing better than spending time with a dog…is spending time with two! Delilah has suffered with ear infections in our care and Delores has had an upset behind. This will now be considered a pre-existing condition so any future flare ups are unlikely to be covered by insurance. Hunter, a 1 year old male Whippet available for adoption from Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter in Tyne and Wear

Newcastle Dogs & Cats Shelter

Hunter

Tyne and Wear
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedWhippet

Hunter is currently under the care of the vet awaiting sign-off from his neuter procedure. We will gather application forms and contact the successful applicant once he is ready for rehoming. Hunter is looking for an adult only home and to be the only animal in the home. Hunter is a beautiful boy and a sensitive soul with a lot of big feelings. He has a very sweet personality and loves a cuddle with his human friends. Hunter has struggled in the shelter environment and can get very stressed in his kennel. Once out and about on a walk he is a different dog entirely. He walks well and takes in his surroundings without any drama. We hope this is a very positive sign that the unfamiliar shelter environment is at the root of his worries – understandably. Hunter can a little excited by other dogs so, until he learns to greet and meet with manners, we feel it is best he goes home as the only dog. Hunter would love to find an experienced owner who can help him settle at his own pace, and to teach him how to regulate his feelings when life gets stressful. Hunter is very people orientated and would enjoy a home where he isn’t left too often and will get lots of long sniffy walks and awesome adventures which will do wonders to help Hunter focus his energies in the right direction,. We see the sparkle in Hunter’s eyes of the most wonderful boy with the most amazing potential, and cannot wait to watch him learn and grow in the right home. If you are interested in rehoming Hunter, please fill out the application form below. Please note: due to limited resources we are unable to get back to everyone.
