About Oak Tree Animals Charity

Oak Tree Animals’ Charity is a long-established animal welfare charity providing care, rehabilitation, and rehoming for dogs, cats, and equines in need. Founded in 1909, the charity has grown from its early work protecting working horses into a centre of excellence supporting a wide range of animals, including equines, goats, and companion pets. Oak Tree focuses on finding the right long-term homes for animals while offering ongoing advice and support to adopters to help build lasting, healthy relationships. Alongside rescue and rehoming, the charity works proactively within the community through education, advocacy, and welfare programmes such as Trap Neuter Return for feral cats, helping to improve animal welfare for future generations.

Basic Training Quiet Home- Sofa snoozer after a nice walk- Can live with children 10 years plus- Adventure buddy awaits!- Ready to find a new home- He is being rehomed from Animal ConcernBenji is being rehomed from Animal Concern another rescue in Cumbria, if you like the sound of him please head over to their website to apply using the link below.Benji is a 5-year-old Terrier mix with a fun loving personality and plenty of energy to share with his future family. Slightly taller than your average terrier and weighing around 11kg, Benji is a compact little adventurer who enjoys keeping active but also appreciates the comforts of home. This playful boy loves his toys and will happily keep himself entertained with them, especially if someone is around to join in the fun. Benji enjoys getting out and about for his walks, exploring new smells and places. While he’s not the biggest fan of rainy weather, he will still head out for an adventure if he’s wearing his waterproof jacket even if he does so a little grumpily! We suspect Benji may have a bit of Staffy in his mix, especially when you hear his chattiness. When he wants something, whether that’s playtime, attention, or dinner he isn’t shy about telling you!Benji is also a very affectionate dog who loves being close to his people. In fact, one of his favourite ways to show affection is by giving your ears a very enthusiastic clean! After a good walk or a play session, he’s more than happy to settle down beside you on a nice cosy sofa for some well earned relaxation.Benji would love a home where he can enjoy regular walks and little adventures, before coming back to relax with his family. He would prefer to be the only dog in the household, as he can be reactive around male dogs and can sometimes be a bit too much for female dogs.As Benji hasn’t lived with children before, we feel he would do best in a home with children aged 10 years and over, who can understand his lively nature and give him the space he needs. Please complete our Online Dog Adoption Matchmaking Questionnaire to express your interest. If you have any questions or issues, please call 01228 560082 or email smallanimalteam@oaktreeanimals.org.uk (between 10.00am to 4.00pm).On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Handsome Hamish

Cumbria
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedPointer

* House trained & Crate Trained* Has been for sleepovers at our animal teams homes, the perfect house guest!Hamish is looking for a home with active adopters who can take him on lots of exploring, sniffy adventures in quiet walking areas, such as private hire fields, who can provide him with extra activities such as scent work or agility to keep his clever brain busy and give him all the care and attention he deserves. He can live with children aged 15 and over who understand that he is a large clumsy boy, who will play nicely with him and give him space to rest when needed.Hamish likes his attention undivided so is looking to be the only pet in the home; however, once settled in the home, there is a potential for him to have doggy walking friend who can cope with his active personality. He is a very clever boy, he knows ‘sit’, ‘paw’ and ‘wait'. He is so eager to please and takes training on board very quickly - so far he has learnt heel, eye contact, distractions and is busy doing scent work, which he is so good at. Apart from his intelligence and training abilities, Hamish loves nothing more than a good snuggle on the couch - he loves people and has so much love to offer.Once settled into the home, Hamish can get a little worried being left alone, he could be left for up to 1-2 hours, this would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his. He is also house trained and crate trained which makes it easier for building up time being left especially when he has a frozen kong to keep him entertained.Hamish has been in foster and was the perfect house guest - could you give him his forever home? Please complete our Online Dog Adoption Matchmaking Questionnaire to express your interest. If you have any questions or issues, please call 01228 560082 or email smallanimalteam@oaktreeanimals.org.uk (between 10.00am to 4.00pm).On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Lady Layla, a 3 years old female Labrador available for adoption from Oak Tree Animals Charity in Cumbria

Oak Tree Animals Charity

Lady Layla

Cumbria
SexFemale
Age3 years
BreedLabrador

High Energy Basic Training- Patient owner allowing Layla to settle in her own timeLayla is a lively three-year-old crossbreed with a big zest for life, looking for an active home that can match her energy. She would love living with a family who enjoy getting out for long walks, exploring new places, and giving her plenty of daily exercise. A home with access to a secure garden would be best, where Layla can stretch her legs and continue her house-training routine. She is happy to say hello and make friends with dogs out and about and has mixed off lead with a Labrador friend here at Oak Tree.Layla hasn’t had the best of luck during her time in kennels and has never been given the time to settle properly once in a new home. She is very food orientated which is very beneficial with training. Layla can be left up to 5 hours once settled into a new routine. Her new family would be advised to take things slowly with her at first and have a separate area in the home for her to settle as she has been startled a couple of times when in her bed and on the sofa. She needs someone who understands that she is very hesitant with her paws being touched and will need time to settle and adapt without pressure. She is clever and is knows sit, down , paw and has a good recall in a secure paddock. Out and about on her walks, as you’d expect from a Spaniel, she likes to be into everything, going in every direction, she’s super busy with a tail that never stops. Layla will need enrichment and exercise in the home, so an active family is preferable. We would like her to go on foster with view to adopt first, to allow our training team to support Layla with the transition from kennels to a new home with a couple of visits and check ins until we feel she is ready to be adopted. Lexi is a 6 year old Cross Breed who is looking for a loving home. Lexi has recently been in foster and was the perfect guest! She enjoys a snuggle and is a very affectionate girl.
