Meet Charlie – Looking for his Forever Home Location: DerbyFrom: RomaniaAge: Approximately 8 months oldCharlie is a gentle, sensitive boy who’s come a long way since arriving in foster care. When he first came into the home, he was very scared and preferred to stay out of sight. With patience and kindness, his true personality is beginning to shine through and it’s lovely to see.Charlie has formed a strong bond with his foster mum and now happily follows her around the house. He’s started taking treats from her and enjoys gentle strokes. While he’s still a little shy with children, he’s making steady progress and will allow calm, respectful interaction.He lives with two resident female dogs and absolutely loves their company especially playing with the younger one. He’s learning a lot by watching them and is becoming more confident each day, even trying to join in when meeting other dogs and people.Charlie enjoys toys and playtime, and he’s generally calm and well-behaved in the home. He hasn’t shown any signs of aggression and copes well with everyday noises and movement. He’s fine being left alone for short periods, often sitting quietly and watching the world go by.At night, Charlie prefers to sleep in his foster mum’s room, as he can feel unsettled if left alone. He’s housetrained and uses a dog flap, which makes things easy. Mealtimes are supervised, as he’s a quick eater and may try to sneak a taste from other bowls!On walks, Charlie is still adjusting and isn’t a fan of the lead just yet, but he’s comfortable wearing a harness and collar. With continued encouragement, he should gain confidence outdoors.Charlie has been bathed and, although nervous at first, quickly relaxed with reassurance. He travels well in the car and hasn’t yet been introduced to cats.Charlie’s Ideal HomeCharlie would love to live with another small, friendly dog for companionship and to play with.He currently lives with 2 resident female dogs who he gets on well with. He settles well when left alone for short periods with the resident dogs. He could maybe live as an only dog if someone is home a lot of the time.Charlie could live with dog savvy children aged 7+, provided they understand he may need a little time to feel comfortable and they would respect his space.This sweet boy just needs a patient, loving home where he can continue to grow in confidence and feel safe. **Needs another dog in the home to help her gain confidenceas she’s very nervous until she knows you!• I am a small sized mixed breed female from Romania and I am approximately 2 yrs 6 mths old• I am a very sweet, happy and affectionate pup and I love lots of cuddles• I would love to be rehomed with another confident doggy friend who can help build my confidence and to learn from• I would love a calm home and any time left alone would need to be built up gradually• I am nervous with people and other dogs when I first meet them whilst out walking and with visitors to the home but I am improving every day• I can be nervous of loud noises but my foster siblings help me with my confidence• I sit down calmly while my foster mum places my harness on me• I am house trained but I may need some help with this in a new home• I walk well on my lead and harness• I sleep through the night downstairs on the sofa or a dog bed with the other resident dogs.• I really enjoy my food and can be fed in the same space as the resident dogs as I show no food aggression• I travel well on the back seat of the car in a harness and seatbelt• I am nervous of children so would like a home with dog savvy children over 16 years old who will respect my space• I have met cats so could possibly live with a dog savvy cat with careful introduction• I am currently in foster with 3 other resident dogs in Kent• I am microchipped, vaccinated and neutered• I am 4DX snap tested with negative results, have had my rabies vaccination and have had a blood test for Brucella Canis at the APHA Lab in the UK which was negative• My adoption donation is £550You could make a donation, sponsor a dog, join our supporters club or buy from our shop.How about volunteering or fundraising for us?We have corporate support opportunities too.
