Meet Aspen!Aspen is one of Holly’s incredible puppies, and his story is one of true strength and survival. His mum was found just before Christmas by the river - freezing, starving, and doing everything she could to protect her newborn puppies. Thankfully, they were brought into safety, and these pups have since grown up in the shelter where they’ve blossomed into the happy, playful puppies they were always meant to be.Sadly, parvo hit the litter, along with others in the shelter, and not every puppy was as lucky. Against the odds, all of Holly’s puppies survived. Aspen has shown just how resilient and strong he is, and now he is fully recovered, fighting fit, and ready to find his forever home. We are so hopeful he will go on to live the long, happy life that many puppies affected by parvo sadly never get the chance to have.Aspen is a typical, joyful pup - full of life, curiosity, and affection. He loves to play with his siblings but is also confident enough to approach people on his own and enjoy human interaction. He is good with other dogs, can live with cats, and would be happy in a home with children.At just 4 months old, Aspen is already quite leggy and growing fast, with an expected adult weight of around 30kg. As a larger dog, he will need all the usual puppy training and an adopter who is committed to guiding him through the teenage phase. Meet Astra!Astra’s story could have ended far too soon when she found herself in a kill shelter last year, facing a heartbreaking fate. Thankfully, she was rescued in time and has been given the chance to find the loving home she truly deserves.She is a gorgeous girl who weighs around 28kg, though she’s quite petite in stature for her weight. Astra is full of playful energy and confidence, and she gets along well with other dogs. She is confident enough that she could be an only dog, but equally would enjoy a friend to play with!Her time on the streets before being harshly taken away to the kill shelter allowed her to spend time with children. She was often seen happily playing with children.What she needs most is a patient and understanding family. She is very frightened of the lead, so she will need a home with a secure garden where she can feel safe. Gentle, slow introductions to lead training will be essential to help her overcome her fear at her own pace. She is likely to take time to build up to going for walks.Despite her rough start, Astra’s spirit is bright, and her heart is full of love. Meet Bella!Please meet Bella!Bella is a beautiful 3-year-old spayed female, weighing around 23kg, with long legs and a gentle, soulful nature. She has a calm presence and a sweetness that quietly emerges once she feels safe.Bella’s story is heartbreaking. In March 2022, she was dumped in a box outside the shelter gates along with her sisters when they were still tiny puppies. Since that day, the shelter has been the only life she has ever known. While other dogs have found their way home (including her sister Ursa), Bella has stayed behind, waiting patiently for someone to finally choose her.She currently lives outside, free with the other dogs, and has never experienced life in a home. Because of this, Bella will need basic training and time to adapt to living in a house with a garden. That said, she listens well to the shelter owners and shows a willingness to learn, making her a lovely candidate for someone prepared to guide her gently through this big transition.Bella is friendly with people and gets along well with other dogs. She could happily live with an other dogs or be the only dog in the home. She hasn’t been tested with cats. As she can be jumpy and energetic, she would be best suited to a home with older children.A home with a secure garden would be ideal, giving Bella the chance to explore, relax, and finally feel safe in her own space. Meet Buddy!Buddy has spent his whole life in a home. He came to the Cambridgeshire area as a puppy, full of hope, and has grown into a gentle, sensitive soul who simply wants to belong. But through no fault of his own, Buddy now finds himself in a situation where his needs can no longer be met… and his world has quietly become smaller.Right now, Buddy is being left crated for long periods. For a dog who thrives on having people around, this is incredibly hard. He struggles with being alone and experiences anxiety, though he does take comfort from the presence of another dog. When he experiences this anxiety he can display destructive behaviours. What Buddy truly needs is a home where someone is there, where he can feel safe and settled.Buddy is 5 years old and still has so much life and love to give. He lives with children and is wonderful with them, showing patience and kindness. He would really benefit from living with another calm, confident dog who can help guide and reassure him. He hasn’t been tested with cats. Like a lot of dogs, he struggles with loud noises and has been on vet medication around fireworks season.Out on walks, Buddy is a joy. He enjoys being active and would thrive in a home that can give him regular exercise and adventures. He may pull a little if he spots another dog - he just wants to say hello - but this is manageable and comes from his friendly nature.At home, Buddy is a quiet companion. He isn’t demanding, but he loves affection in his own gentle way. He’ll come over for a scratch or a tickle, often waiting politely to be invited… and if you stop too soon, he’ll wander off with a soft sigh - his subtle way of saying “I was enjoying that.”Buddy will need a home with access to a garden, as he would happily spend time outside, but he doesn’t tend to toilet there - so regular walks are essential. Meet Buzz!He is a 4-year-old boy who weighs around 17kg. He is ready to leave his past behind and start a brand-new chapter after being rescued from a kill shelter. While he’s had a tough start, you’d never guess it once you get to know him.Buzz can be a little shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and turns into the friendly, affectionate dog he truly is. Once he trusts you, he’s all in – loyal, sweet, and always up for some fun.He absolutely loves his walks and recently had the time of his life splashing around in a mountain stream – water is definitely his happy place! He’d really suit someone who enjoys the outdoors and wants a dog to share their adventures with.Buzz does have some quirks. He’s protective around food, so he’ll need to be the only pet in the home, and he’s not suitable to live with cats or children. She’s still at the shelter with her son Snoop and his dad Sonny, but while the boys are still quite shy, Cher is ready to take her next step and find a patient family of her own.Cher can be nervous at first, but she responds beautifully to gentle encouragement and, of course, a few tasty snacks! Once she feels safe, she’s happy to sit quietly by your side and enjoy a soft fuss. She has such a kind nature — she just needs someone to show her that people can be trusted.When Cher was first taken off the streets, she had to be transported in a crate as she wasn’t used to wearing a lead. She will need a secure garden and a family willing to build up her confidence slowly before expecting her to go out on walks.Her new family will need to be calm, patient, and experienced with shy dogs, giving her time to settle at her own pace.Cher would be happiest in a quiet, adult-only home, where she can feel safe and relaxed. Meet Eska!Please meet Eska!Eska is another of the dogs from our kill shelter rescue mission last May. She has been through so much already, being “rescued” from a hoarding situation just to be dumped into the kill shelter to die. Now she is actually safe for the first time in her life, and ready for a family!Eska and her sisters are a sociable, friendly bunch with just enough energy to enjoy adventures and play, but not be overly crazy! At just 15kg and 2 years old, this lovely girl would make the perfect addition to any home willing to let her settle at her own speed. She enjoys playing and getting attention from the people they trust.Eska would love to have another dog in the home to help her confidence and play with. She has always been around so many dogs that we feel she would struggle on her own now. Eska also loves to play with other dogs, and often plays the day away! She is good on the lead, and although a bit nervous, she will soon gain confidence. Meet Eva!She was born into a home where she spent her first eight months, but sadly, the man in the house regularly beat her. Eva didn’t understand what she had done wrong — she only knew fear and confusion. Thankfully, the man’s son saw how much Eva was suffering and did the kindest thing he could: he brought her to our safe shelter, where she could finally begin to heal and learn that not all people are cruel.Despite everything she’s endured, Eva’s spirit hasn’t been broken. She’s an affectionate, playful girl who absolutely adores belly rubs and will happily flop over for one any chance she gets. Once she trusts you, she gives her whole heart and loves deeply. She’s bright, eager to learn, and full of energy — a wonderful mix of her Malinois and Akita traits.Eva would thrive in an active home with access to a garden, where she can run, play, and enjoy life to the fullest. She’s good with other dogs and loves to play, although she can be a little protective over her toys. In the shelter environment, she hasn’t quite learned to share yet, but with gentle guidance and consistency, this will improve as she continues to feel safe and secure.She’s a bit too bouncy and excitable to live with cats, but she could happily live with older children who understand how to respect her space and match her playful energy. But when his owner grew old and could no longer care for him, she left him out on the streets.Confused, scared, and alone, Fionn was soon caught by the dog catchers and taken to a kill shelter — from a comfy sofa to death row before he knew what was happening.Fionn is looking for a quiet, adult-only home where he can spend his golden years in peace. He walks beautifully on a lead and still enjoys gentle strolls, just as he used to with his family. He loves a quiet fuss and kind words, but he also values his own space — a house with a secure garden where he can wander, nap, and simply be would be perfect for him.He’d like to be the only pet, as he doesn’t enjoy the company of other dogs and has had a few disagreements in the past. He hasn’t been tested with cats, so a pet-free home would be best.Fionn doesn’t ask for much — just safety, kindness, and a soft place to rest his head. Sadly, time isn’t on his side.
