About Pawprints Dog Rescue

Pawprints Dog Rescue began as a local community initiative in Rugby, offering advice on responsible dog ownership and helping reunite lost dogs with their owners. After discovering that many healthy strays were being euthanised due to a lack of rescue spaces, the group evolved into a dedicated dog rescue charity in 2011. Pawprints focuses on saving at-risk dogs from local pounds, providing veterinary treatment, rehabilitation, and foster-based care before rehoming. Funded entirely through fundraising and public support, the charity is not breed selective and continues to rescue hundreds of dogs that might otherwise have been put to sleep.

Alfie, a 6 months old male Poodle available for adoption from Pawprints Dog Rescue in Warwickshire

Pawprints Dog Rescue

Alfie

Warwickshire
SexMale
Age6 months
BreedPoodle

Alfie is a 6-month-old blind Poodle Cross who was sadly found as a stray back in April and now available for adoption at Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands Following his arrival into rescue, we discovered that Alfie has albinism and is blind. Alfie was quickly placed into one of our experienced foster homes, where he has been given the time, patience and support he needed to adjust. With the help of his wonderful foster family and canine foster sister, Alfie has grown in confidence and continues to make fantastic progress every day. Despite being blind, Alfie is a happy, affectionate puppy who loves meeting new people and happily welcomes any attention or fuss. He enjoys spending time outdoors and loves going for walks, although he does explore at his own pace. Alfie relies heavily on his sense of smell and takes time to familiarise himself with new environments, so his adopter will need to be patient and allow him to build confidence as he explores. Alfie adores his canine foster sister and has gained confidence by following their lead both in the home and on walks. For this reason, Alfie will need a home with another friendly, confident dog who can continue to provide him with guidance and companionship, as well as keep up with his cheeky puppy antics! Around the home, Alfie has done an amazing job of learning the layout of his foster home and now confidently moves between rooms independently. As expected with a blind puppy, moving into a new environment will mean starting this process again. His new family will need to give him the time and consistency to learn his surroundings and establish a new routine. Alfie is doing well with his housetraining but does still have the occasional accident indoors while he continues to learn. Alfie is looking for adopters who understand that, although he is blind, he is still very much a typical young dog who enjoys company, adventures and learning new things. He will need a patient family who are committed to helping him settle into a new home and continue building his confidence.

Barbara

Warwickshire
SexFemale
Age3 years
BreedBulldog

Barbara is a 4 year old Chongquing Chinese Bulldog available for adoption through Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands. She is looking for a loving home in the Midlands or further afield and would like a quieter household but would enjoy doggy companions on walks. Barbara, who recently had a great time at our annual dog show, she placed 4th in “a face only a mother could love”… but is now waiting for that mum, and or, dad to show her rosette off too. Barbara is a 4 year old Chinese Bulldog with a huge personality just waiting to show it off to a forever family. While she can be a little nervous when first meeting new people, anyone willing to give her the time and patience she needs will soon see what a truly special girl she is. Once Barbara forms a bond, her wonderful character shines through, she’s funny, sweet, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining. As we don’t know anything about Barbara’s life before coming into our care, we’re unsure whether she has lived in a home environment before. However, she absolutely loves spending time with us in the office, where she happily settles herself on a cosy bed or curls up on the sofa. She may need a little refresher with house training, so a home with a secure garden would be ideal. This would give her a safe space to continue building her confidence and help her gradually adjust to her new routine before venturing further afield. Barbara has had some worries around handling in the past, but thanks to training, understanding, and medication to help manage her arthritis, she has come on leaps and bounds. These days she really enjoys a fuss and is happy to be stroked all over by the people she trusts. Her medication will need to be long term, if interested in Barbara we will discuss her medical in more detail with you. She enjoys walking alongside other dogs and is happy to socialise out and about, but at the moment Barbara would prefer to be the only dog in her new home so she can enjoy all the attention for herself. Barbara is also a fantastic traveller and loves car journeys, especially when she can look out of the window and watch the world pass by on the way to her next adventure. Barbara is looking for a calm, adult-only home with patient adopters who will give her the time she needs to settle in. Her adopters may also need to visit the rescue several times before taking her home. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion with a loving nature, and a personality that’s impossible not to fall in love with!!

Billy

Warwickshire
SexMale
Age3 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

Billy is a handsome boy who is looking for a patient family able to help his confidence grow. We don’t have much history on Billy, but it seems he has not been exposed to much in the past and can become a bit over the top at times. We are working on this with him, and he is making improvements every day. Billy loves being around other dogs but is currently to be the only dog in the home due to being neutered recently, but he will share his walks with canine friends. Once you build a relationship Billy will happily enjoy some fuss and loves an ear massage! We are looking for an adult only home, so Billy has a quiet place to take himself should he feel overwhelmed. Billy would like a big cosy bed to curl up into, and a nice garden he can explore. He has so much love to give to a family and will be an amazing addition to the home. We would like a family interested to meet him a few times or have a few home visits to build his confidence so will be looking for a home close to our Rescue.

Meet Dougie the handsome, full of character Frenchie available for adoption at Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands. Dougie is a fun loving 4 year old French Bulldog with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He’s full of character and is guaranteed to keep you smiling with his charming antics and love for life. Dougie does have arthritis in his back legs and takes daily medication to keep him comfortable. He will need to remain on this medication long term, and we’re happy to discuss his medical needs in more detail with any interested adopters. One of Dougie’s favourite things is getting out and about. He loves his walks and thrives when he’s exploring the world around him, although being a French bulldog with his short snout and his arthritis he does need shorter walks, or trips out to the garden centre where he can have a sit down! He loves to walk and play with other dogs and thrives in their company out and about, although he would prefer to be the only dog in his home where he can soak up all the attention. Dougie is a real people lover and has never had any issues meeting new people on his walks. In fact, he’ll often make a beeline for anyone willing to give him a fuss! Dougie can display guarding behaviours around items he has found or stolen, but he has been making great progress with his training. To help him continue to succeed, Dougie is looking for an adult only home with patient owners who are committed to following his training plan. Some management around the home will be needed, and our behaviourist will provide full support with this to ensure his new family feels confident and prepared. A home with a secure private garden would be a dream for Dougie, giving him a safe space to potter about. Dougie has so much love to give, and in the right home he will make an incredibly rewarding companion. He would be well suited to someone with experience of resource guarding, or to a family who are keen to learn, put in the training, and help him continue building on the fantastic progress he’s already made. Dougie is of course looking for his forever home, but he is struggling in kennels so we would also be looking for an experienced foster family if you aren’t quite ready to adopt a dog. Dougie is a character and everyone who meets him fall in love, please don’t hesitate to contact us and have a chat about any of the above if you have questions.

Eleanor, a 2 years old female Crossbreed available for adoption from Pawprints Dog Rescue in Warwickshire

Pawprints Dog Rescue

Eleanor

Warwickshire
SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedCrossbreed

Eleanor is a 2 year old female cane corso cross available for adoption through Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands. She is looking for a loving home in the Midlands or further afield and could live potentially another calm dog . Eleanor is a young and playful girl who is looking for her perfect family to have a home of her very own. Unfortunately, she has been overlooked for over a year…. And we really don’t understand why. Eleanor is a joy to be around; staff and volunteers love spending time with her both off lead in our secure areas and taking her offsite with her canine friends. Eleanor is a beautiful, fun girl who honestly is the best of all worlds – she loves to play and is very active, she would be an amazing adventure buddy to do long walks or hikes, she has an amazing brain and can learn anything you ask her too, and she is also a massive snuggle bug who after using her brain will cuddle up to you and have a long snooze. Who can resist that?! She loves to play, loves toys and loves if you chase her around! She is a gentle girl who works hard to walk nicely on the lead and doesn’t snatch treats. She is looking for a home with over 15-year-olds who are used to larger breeds. Eleanor does enjoy playing with other dogs but having spent a while in kennels she lacks some social skills, although there is potential for her to live with an established dog, we think her perfect match would be an older (but still playful) similar sized male dog. But we also know she would thrive on her own being the centre of attention but would like to go for playdates and have walking friends. Her ideal home would have access to some nice quiet walks to start with until she settled with you. She also does love the car so will happily join you for walks further afield. Eleanor can be wary of men, especially in her own space – but this is something we have been working on and has gotten a lot better over her time with us. She is happy meeting new men both offsite and onsite in out paddocks now, it may take a couple of extra treats to build that positive association, but she can happily be around, be walked by and play with men now. But will need a family willing to continue this training and a family happy to manage careful visitor interactions.

Gregor, a 1 year old male Siberian Husky available for adoption from Pawprints Dog Rescue in Warwickshire

Pawprints Dog Rescue

Gregor

Warwickshire
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedSiberian Husky

Meet Gregor, a stunning 1-year-old Husky with a fun personality and plenty of energy to share. This handsome boy is lively and affectionate and loves his walks. He does show some worries around unfamiliar places, we think this may be due to him not having been out and about very much, but once you show him the ropes his confidence grows. You may just need to take your time introducing him to busier areas. Gregor already knows some basic cues including sit, down, and paw, he likes his food and will engage in training when we have something tasty. Like many young Huskies, he can be strong on the lead and is only just beginning to learn how to walk nicely, so he’ll need adopters who are committed to continuing his training and helping him develop good manners out and about. Around other dogs, Gregor has been vocal, which we currently believe is due to frustration and excitement, but he needs some further assessments. Because of this, he is currently looking for a home with no other pets so his new family can focus on his training and settling in. Gregor could live with dog confident teenagers who understand that he can become bouncy and jump up when excited. Despite his energetic side, he is also incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than cuddling up with his humans after a busy day. This beautiful boy is looking for an active home that understands the Husky breed and can give him the time, exercise, training, and love he deserves. In return, Gregor will make a loyal, entertaining, and very loving companion. We will be looking for a family able to be around all the time to settle Gregor in until time alone can be slowly built up. We think he would benefit to live somewhere with his own garden, but it is not a must.

Jojo, a 6 years old female German Shepherd available for adoption from Pawprints Dog Rescue in Warwickshire

Jojo

Warwickshire
SexFemale
Age6 years
BreedGerman Shepherd

Jojo is a beautiful small-sized 6 year old German Shepherd looking for a quiet home in the Midlands or further afield where she can truly relax. As a slightly older lady she has a gentle and affectionate nature and absolutely loves fuss and attention from the people she knows and trusts. Jojo would be best suited to an adult-only home, where she can enjoy a calm and predictable environment. She is not a high-energy Shepherd, but she does love her daily walks and walks beautifully on the lead. She also loves her toys and will love to run around in the garden playing. She settles well in the home and can be left for a few hours. Jojo is reactive around other dogs and is currently walked wearing a muzzle as a precaution. However, she is making really positive progress with her ongoing training and can be carefully introduced to calm dogs. Her future family will need to continue with this training; Jojo loves to learn new things too and is super smart. Ideally, Jojo would love a more rural setting with access to peaceful walking areas, although if her owners are happy to drive her to quiet walking areas to begin with then location isn’t too important. Jojo unfortunately seems to have been overlooked for some time and has been in our care for over a year, and we really cannot see why because she is a joy to be around. The staff and volunteers love to take her out for her offsite walks or play and cuddle with her in our onsite areas. Please consider adopting or even fostering Jojo so she can be in a loving home environment – she won’t take up much space she really is a tiny sized shep!

BreedGerman Shepherd

Kayde the GSD cross/German Shepherd cross is available for adoption at Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands. Kayde with ears as big as her heart… both are simply impossible not to fall in love with. Kayde is a playful, affectionate, and incredibly intelligent young dog looking for an active home. Her favourite things are playtime and long walks. She would make a fantastic companion for someone who enjoys training. Kayde loves learning new things and picks up new skills quickly, making her a joy to work with. While she needs an active home, after a walk Kayde will be happy to curl up on the sofa for a cuddle and a well-earned nap. She would love a home where someone is around for most of the day, as she enjoys having company. She is currently comfortable being left for a few hours in her crate, and with patience this could continue to be built up. Kayde could potentially live with another dog following successful introductions. On lead, she can sometimes become frustrated when she sees dogs she’d like to greet, which can result in some reactive behaviour, but has been making great progress with positive training and is learning to stay calm in these situations. Her current training will be shared with her new family so they can continue with it. She has also been learning to walk nicely on the lead, although like many young dogs she can occasionally become distracted by exciting things around her. Kayde could live with sensible secondary school aged children who are confident around larger dogs, due to being an enthusiastic young dog, she can occasionally jump up when she’s excited, so any children in the home should be comfortable with this while she continues to learn polite greetings. Kayde is a wonderful, loving dog with so much potential. She’s looking for a committed family who will continue her training, include her in their adventures, and give her all the love and companionship she deserves.

Lil Pete, a 4 years old male French Bulldog available for adoption from Pawprints Dog Rescue in Warwickshire

Pawprints Dog Rescue

Lil Pete

Warwickshire
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedFrench Bulldog

Lil Pete the Frenchie is available for adoption at Pawprints Dog Rescue Midlands. This handsome French Bulldog is an incredibly affectionate and social boy who simply loves being around his people. Whether you’re working from home, relaxing on the sofa or pottering around the house, Lil Pete is happiest when he’s close by. He’d make the ideal office assistant, content to snooze (and snore very loudly!) at your feet before wandering into the garden for a spot of sunbathing. Lil Pete is currently thriving in foster care and has shown that he can be left for a few hours without any problems. That said, he would be best suited to a home where he has regular human company and a predictable routine. Thanks to his friendly and sociable nature, Lil Pete could happily live with sensible older children who understand how to respect a dog’s space and boundaries. He enjoys human interaction and would love to be included in family life. Out on his walks, Lil Pete has been happy seeing other dogs and has shown no issues passing them. However, when it comes to home life, he’d much prefer to have his humans all to himself. For this reason, Lil Pete is looking for a home where he is the only pet, allowing him to soak up all the love and attention he deserves. Like many rescue dogs, Lil Pete is still learning. He has been working hard on his toilet training and is making great progress, but his new family will need to continue this training with patience and consistency as he settles into home life. When Lil Pete arrived with Pawprints Dog Rescue, he was struggling with severe breathing difficulties. He has since undergone successful BOAS surgery, which has made a huge difference to his comfort and quality of life. While he’s now breathing much more easily, his adopters will still need to understand the ongoing needs of a brachycephalic breed. This includes keeping him cool during warm weather, avoiding overexertion and ensuring his exercise remains gentle and appropriate. Fortunately, that’s exactly Lil Pete’s style! He’s an easy-going little gentleman who enjoys a leisurely stroll followed by plenty of cuddles on the sofa. He’s not looking for mountain hikes or marathon adventures—just a loving home where he can enjoy life’s simple pleasures with his favourite people. If you’re searching for a sweet, affectionate companion who will happily be your work colleague, cuddle buddy and sunbathing partner, Lil Pete could be the perfect addition to your family. Lil’Pete is new to the Pawprints family and we are getting to know each other.
