About Pendle Dogs

Pendle Dogs in Need was founded in 2013 to help secure loving, permanent homes for dogs in need. The charity operates primarily through foster homes, allowing dogs to be assessed in a home environment before being made available for adoption, with private boarding kennels used only in emergencies. Pendle Dogs in Need does not have a physical centre for visits; instead, all dogs are listed online with detailed information about their needs and the type of home they are seeking. Prospective adopters are encouraged to read each dog’s profile carefully and apply specifically for the dog they feel is the right match. This thoughtful, foster-based approach helps ensure successful, long-term placements for both dogs and adopters.

Beanie, a 4 years old female Chihuahua available for adoption from Pendle Dogs in Lancashire

Many of you will remember tiny Beanie, our three-legged Chihuahua who arrived with us in an absolutely horrific condition. When Beanie first started to improve, we felt she was ready to start looking for her forever home. Unfortunately, her skin flared up again, so we made the decision to pause her adoption and focus on getting her comfortable and healthy once more. The good news is that she’s doing brilliantly. Her skin is looking so much better, she’s feeling well, and the extra time in foster care has helped us understand exactly what this little lady needs from her future family. And what have we learned?Well… Beanie is an absolute princess! She is not your average dog. Beanie thrives on attention, affection, and being the centre of someone’s world. She loves to be nurtured and adored, and she will repay that devotion with endless love, laughter, and companionship. She does struggle with separation anxiety, so she needs a home where somebody is around for much of the day. The beauty of Beanie, though, is that she’s so tiny and portable that she can go almost anywhere with you. She has her own pram, and she’s more than happy to join you on life’s adventures.Over the past few weeks, we’ve also discovered that Beanie could potentially live with another very small, calm, and quiet dog. What she absolutely doesn’t enjoy is anything boisterous or overwhelming.Beanie cannot live with children. Even seeing children from a distance causes her anxiety, and she finds them very stressful. She also cannot live with cats, as she has made her feelings about them very clear! One thing we’d like to clear up is her age. We received a lot of comments when we first advertised Beanie suggesting that she was much older than stated. We can assure everyone that Beanie is only 4 years old.The grey colouring around her face is largely due to scarring from the severe skin issues she arrived with, combined with her naturally pale colouring. It can make her appear older in photographs, but trust us—this little girl is young, lively, cheeky, and full of character.Beanie has overcome so much already. Now she’s looking for a special home that understands her quirks, appreciates her larger-than-life personality, and is ready to treat her exactly as she believes she should be treated…Like the princess she is. ️Please share to help us find the perfect forever home for our little Beanie. If you feel you may have the perfect home for our Beanie please fully read all the information on our home page and then fill the online form in.

DANIEL IS SAFE… BUT HE’S STILL WAITINGDaniel is one of the lucky ones. He’s out of kennels and being cared for in a wonderful foster home. But what he really wants is a family to call his own.Daniel is a 4-year-old Bull Lurcher with the biggest heart. He’s affectionate, gentle and loves nothing more than being with his people. Everyone who meets him falls for his sweet nature.Like many ex-working dogs, Daniel has a strong prey drive. Squirrels, rabbits and cats are simply too tempting, so he’ll always need to stay on lead unless he’s in a safely enclosed area. It’s part of his breeding, and we’re looking for a home that understands and accepts him for who he is.Around other dogs, Daniel can be a little uncertain at first. He hasn’t had the easiest experiences, and sometimes that uncertainty comes out as frustration rather than confidence. Give him a little time and reassurance, though, and he realises everything is okay. We believe he could live with the right calm female dog after careful introductions, but he’d also be perfectly happy as the only dog, soaking up all the love and attention. We’re not looking for a perfect dog because Daniel doesn’t need to be one. We’re looking for the perfect people—people who understand that every dog has their quirks, and that his are more than outweighed by the love and loyalty he has to give. He’s been waiting for months now, and we simply can’t understand why. Every day that passes is another day this lovely boy goes without a family of his own.Somewhere, Daniel’s forever home is out there. We just need to find the people willing to look beyond the words “ex-working dog” and see the beautiful, gentle soul standing in front of them.Could that be you?To offer our Daniel a space in your heart and home, please fully read all the information on our home page prior to filling in our application form

BreedFrench Bulldog

Frankie is a neutered male French bulldog who is looking for a forever home now.He is a very affectionate and friendly boy who loves cuddles, cozy blankets and to sit by a warm fire.He will walk on a lead but isn’t a keen walker and is just as happy to potter round the garden and be lazy.Typical of the breed he can be quite stubborn and on occasions has reacted to other dogs, but he can be easily distracted. He isn’t keen on being left but will manage around four hours as long as its not every day.He does have an issue with resourcing guarding with toys and some food. this can lead to him snapping if handled the wrong way. For this reason he will not be rehomed with children or other pets.Full training support will be given with this as its something both managers have lots of first hand experience with. For this reason he will not be rehomed with children or other pets.If you are looking for a little friendly sidekick who isn’t too energetic then Frankie could be the boy for you. Please read all about us on our home page and fill out the application on there.

Sonic, a 10 months old male Crossbreed available for adoption from Pendle Dogs in Lancashire

Sonic

Lancashire
SexMale
Age10 months
BreedCrossbreed

MEET SONICSometimes, a dog arrives in our care with more questions than answers. This handsome young pup is one of those dogs. Sonic is another bull lurcher type ( one of our favourite breed mixes) and he’s only 10 months old.He came into the stray dog system in the strangest of circumstances. Someone walked into a local veterinary practice, placed all of his paperwork on the reception desk, dropped his lead… and walked away.He didn’t arrive with nothing. In fact, he’s probably the first stray we’ve ever had to come with a full history of paperwork, including his vaccination records. What we don’t have are the answers to the biggest question of all… why? From what we’ve managed to piece together, life hasn’t always been kind to him. Yet despite everything, he remains one of the sweetest, gentlest boys you could hope to meet.He walks beautifully on the lead, keeps his kennel clean and has quickly stolen the hearts of everyone who’s met him. He’s affectionate, calm and simply a pleasure to spend time with.Around other dogs, we’ve seen no concerning reactions so far, although we’d carry out further assessments before considering him for a home with another dog.As he’s a working-type dog, he cannot live with cats or other small furry animals. That’s simply part of responsible rehoming, and we won’t compromise on that.We don’t know how he would cope left for long periods, so we’re looking for a home where someone is around for most of the day while he settles and learns that he’s finally safe. This lovely lad deserves so much more than whatever life has thrown at him so far. He deserves stability. Kindness. Patience. And, most of all, someone who will never walk away from him again. If you think you could offer this beautiful boy the fresh start he so deserves, we’d love to hear from you. Please visit our home page to read all of our adoption information before completing a home check form
