About Rain Rescue

Rain Rescue began with just three cattery rooms and the use of boarding kennels, steadily expanding to meet growing areas of need before registering as a charity in 2006. Formerly known as Rotherham Animals In Need and later Rescuing Animals In Need, the charity has continued to evolve while maintaining a strong commitment to animal welfare as a full member of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH). Today, Rain Rescue supports homeless and abandoned cats and dogs by providing safe shelter, medical care, and carefully matched new homes. The charity also helps pet owners facing unexpected crises by supporting the rehoming of much-loved family pets when circumstances change. Guided by the motto “For pets and people, through every storm,” Rain Rescue remains dedicated to caring for both animals and the communities around them.

Jessie, a 7 years old female Chihuahua x Jack Russell Terrier available for adoption from Rain Rescue in South Yorkshire

Jessie

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedChihuahua x Jack Russell Terrier

Hi there… we’re Jessie and JayWe’re a pair of 7-year-old Chihuahua x Jack Russell sisters, and we’re looking for a home where we can stay together forever. We may be a little older, but don’t let that fool you—we’ve still got plenty of sparkle, zoomies, and love to give!I’m Jay, the confident one! I’m the dog on the left in the first photo—the one who’ll probably be the first to say hello, tail wagging like crazy, ready to shower you with kisses. I love people, I love attention, and I really love cuddles. If you sit down, don’t be surprised if I’m in your lap before you’ve even got comfy. And I’m Jessie… I’m the one on the right in the first photo. I’m a little more shy at first. New people can make me a bit nervous, so I might hang back and take a moment to figure you out. But please don’t worry—give me a little time and patience, and I promise I’ll show you just how sweet I really am. Once I trust you, I’ll be right by your side for cuddles and gentle affection. We both still enjoy a good play! Toys are fun, and we love having a little wrestle together—it’s kind of our thing. We’re best friends, after all.We are a bonded pair, which means we really need to stay together—we’ve spent our whole lives side by side and feel happiest when we’re with each other. Because of this, we’re looking for a home where we can be the only pets. The carers at the rescue haven’t had the chance to introduce us to other dogs yet, so they’re not sure how we’d feel about sharing our space. We think we’d do best soaking up all the love just for us!As for cats… well, we find them a little too exciting! Because of that, our carers think it would be best for us to live in a home without any feline friends. We think we’d suit a lovely family environment because we’re such sweet girls, but a quieter home would be ideal for us—especially for me, Jessie—as we can sometimes feel a little nervous and would love a calm place where we can relax and feel safe. What we’re really looking for is a loving home where we can feel secure, get lots of attention, and snuggle up close with our humans. We’ve got hearts full of gold and so much love to give… we just need someone to share it with.Could that be you?Our adoption fee is £500 for us both.

Olive, a 9 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from Rain Rescue in South Yorkshire

Olive

South Yorkshire
SexFemale
Age9 years
BreedDachshund

Hi there… I’m OliveI’m a 9-year-old Dachshund, and I suppose you could say I’m a bit of a gentle old soul. I may not be a puppy anymore, but I’ve got plenty of love left to give—once I feel safe and settled, that is.I’ll be honest with you… I can be a bit of an anxious girl. The world sometimes feels a little big and overwhelming for someone my size, and I need a human who understands that. Someone patient, kind, and willing to go at my pace. I’m not the type to rush into things—but when I trust you, oh, it’s something really special.Because of my worries, I’d do best in a calm home where I can relax and feel secure. I’d really love someone who’s had a Dachshund before—someone who understands our funny little ways, our sensitive hearts, and yes… our stubborn streaks too.I’ve lived with children before and could happily be part of a family again, especially if they understand I sometimes need a little quiet time. When it comes to other dogs, I can be a bit unsure and nervous, so any introductions would need to be slow and gentle to help me feel comfortable. As for cats… well… I do enjoy a good bark at them, so I think a cat-free home would be best for everyone!I enjoy the simple things in life: a cosy bed, a quiet corner, and a human who speaks softly and gives the best gentle fusses. I don’t need big adventures—just a safe place to call home and someone who won’t mind reassuring me when I feel unsure. If you’ve got a bit of experience, a lot of patience, and an even bigger heart… I think we could be just right for each other. My adoption fee is £260.

Rodeo, a 1 year old male Crossbreed available for adoption from Rain Rescue in South Yorkshire

Rodeo

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedCrossbreed

Hi there! I’m RodeoI’m a 1-year-old excitable little terrier cross with bundles of energy—seriously, I’ve got bounce for days! If you’re looking for a calm, sleepy pup… I might not be your guy. But if you want fun, laughter, and a best mate who’s always ready to go—now we’re talking. My absolute favourite thing in the whole world? Playing ball I LOVE it. I could chase a ball all day if you let me! Throw it, I’ll zoom after it. Throw it again? Even better. Keep going? Don’t mind if we do! But you’d better come prepared with two balls—because I won’t give mine up. If you throw another one, though, I’ll happily drop the first and zoom off after the new one.Treats are another one of my favourite things (honestly… who can blame me?). My carers at the rescue say this is brilliant, because I’ll do just about anything for a tasty reward—which means training is something I actually really enjoy. Learning new tricks, showing off my skills, and earning snacks? That’s my kind of fun!The people who look after me say my training is going really well. I was a bit unsure of new people at first, but every day they’ve been helping me get out there and meet new people—and I’m doing great! It turns out it’s pretty nice getting treats and fuss… I’m starting to think humans are actually quite lovely.I have lived in a family environment before, but I think I would fit best in an adult-only home now as I’m a very excitable boy. I’m not a fan of cats, so a cat-free home would be ideal. I can also be unsure around other dogs, so a pet-free home where I can really settle and shine would suit me best. What I really need is someone patient, kind, and willing to guide me as I continue my training and learn to be the very best version of myself. I’m still learning, but I’m keen, clever, and really motivated—especially when treats are involved! In return… I will be your best friendI’m currently a Spotlight Animal, which means my adoption fee is now half price (£175).Adoption fee now: £175(normally £350)

Ziggy, a 5 years old male Greyhound x Lurcher available for adoption from Rain Rescue in South Yorkshire

Rain Rescue

Ziggy

South Yorkshire
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedGreyhound x Lurcher

I’m a handsome brindle Lurcher x Greyhound (about Greyhound size) with a gentle soul and a very big heart. I can be a sensitive boy, and I might feel a little nervous when I first meet new people or dogs — but if you give me a bit of time, patience, and a steady routine, I really do come out of my shell. I’ve made huge progress already!I can also be a big giddy boy at times, and I love to give lots of kisses to my new carers here at the rescue — I’m a real affectionate lad once I feel comfortable. On walks, I can sometimes feel unsure around certain dogs (usually the bigger ones), but I wear my muzzle happily like lots of us sighthounds do — it doesn’t bother me at all. I love treats, I’ve got great recall, and I know lots of clever commands like “come,” “wait,” “bed,” “sit,” and “paw.” In my previous home, once I got to know dogs, I could play off-lead with them, so there is potential to build towards this again in my next home with time and patience. At home, I’m a calm and gentle companion. I like being close to my people and will happily relax on the sofa nearby. One of my favourite ways to show affection is by leaning into you for a fuss — and once I feel comfortable, I’m incredibly cuddly. I do get playful bursts of energy too! I love toys, tug games, and having a good zoom around outside. I’m very food-motivated (snacks are definitely the way to my heart!).I have lived with children before, but I’d probably be happiest in a calm, child-free home, or with older children (13+) who understand that sometimes I just need a little space and kindness. I could live as the only dog and soak up all your love, or — with the right introductions — I might benefit from living with a calm, confident female dog who can show me the ropes.Because of my sighthound instincts, I’ll need a cat-free home too.If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a gentle heart and a playful streak, I might just be your perfect match.Adoption fee £350
