Rottie Friends Rescue is a small, self-funding, not-for-profit Rottweiler rescue based in Somerset, established around 15 years ago in memory of a passionate animal advocate. Run by experienced volunteers with qualifications in force-free training, behaviour and canine therapies, the charity rehabilitates and rehomes Rottweilers, Rottweiler crosses and other specialist breeds. Dogs come into care from private homes, stray kennels and partner rescues, with some remaining as lifelong sanctuary residents due to abuse, neglect or medical needs. Rottie Friends relies on donations and sponsorship to cover the high costs of rescue and offers careful rehoming procedures to ensure each dog finds the right forever home.

Bluey is a 10 month old Mastiff mix. She is a friendly girl who loves company and will need a home with someone around or that can take her to work. Although friendly with other dogs Bluey would prefer not to share her humans at home. She is looking for an adult large breed experienced home. She enjoys her walks and to play with toys but also loves to relax and snooze.

Brock is a male Mastiff Rottie mix thought to be around 18 months old. Sadly another unclaimed stray dog :-( Brock is super friendly but typically has no idea of his size and can be very bouncy when excited. He likes other dogs and could live with another dog that appreciates his ruff and tumble play style! He unfortunately arrived with very sore eyes and as suspected will need entropion surgery to correct this condition where eye lashes grow inwardly and scratch the eyes. He will have this surgery and be neutered prior to re homing. Brock will need large breed experienced owners who can continue his positive training.

Mollie is not a Rottweiler but a 2 year old Tibetan Mastiff and another specialist breed we work with. Mollie came in needing eye surgery re Cherry eyes, she has now had this surgery and healed well. She does need daily eye drops but is quite happy having these put in. Mollie loves other dogs and has lived with two other dogs previously. Mollie has had a failed re homing and is now a sanctuary dog and will remain with us. Your donations help us support the sanctuary dogs.

Murphy is a 3.5 year old male who has sadly spent 3 years of his life in kennels in Ireland. Rotts in Ireland have to be muzzled in public so are less likely to be adopted as pets. Murphy is a friendly boy who has led a sheltered life with most of it in kennels! He is a sweet boy who likes the company of other dogs and people but unsurprisingly can be worried by new things and places so will need an experienced quiet home without children or cats that can slowly introduce him to the wider world.

Nova is a five year old female bull dog who loves people. She is neutered, vaccinated and healthy. Unfortunately Nova was picked on in her first home by a larger female breed. This means she can be wary or defensive of bigger dogs in an indoor environment. She could live with a male dog of her size and is currently in foster with a male Frenchie who she loves to run and play with. Nova loves her walks but also a sofa and company. Pear is a two and a half year old Mastiff mix who was found tied up, very underweight and still lactating from a recent litter of puppies! Unsurprisingly this left her very scared and worried and needing some rehabilitation. Pearl is now a good weight sadly we can do nothing about her cropped ears and tail! but we are helping her build confidence around people and learn to trust again.

Hi, My name is Rae and I am 5 yrs old. I was rescued from the meat trade in China by my original rescue. My past is pretty grim but we don’t focus on that as its over now and I am safe. Although the people at the previous rescue were very kind I found the environment over exciting and stressful as there were many other animals there and this affected my behaviour. I came to Rottie Friends as its much smaller and breed specific so they could give me the time and training needed. I am learning to relax and am a good weight now. People haven’t always been good to me but I am now making friends and learning to trust people and stay calm around them. I am learning to tolerate other dogs but am NOT social. In my previous life I learnt to hunt to survive so I have strong predatory instincts although I’ve been doing lots of scent work and training to help with this and need to wear my face mask and be on lead if other dogs are close. An ideal home for me would be one that had its own secure land and no other pets or animals, with adults who have breed experience and time to continue my training.
