About Saving and Rehoming Strays

Saving and Rehoming Strays is a small, volunteer-led rescue working closely with experienced rescuers in Romania and the UK to save and rehome vulnerable dogs. Operating as a kennel-free rescue, dogs live in social groups within specially designed zones that support their individual needs and help develop confidence and socialisation skills. The team relies heavily on volunteers for administration, fundraising, and daily care. With limited funding, the rescue depends on the generosity of supporters to continue its work rehabilitating and rehoming dogs in need.

DOB: 10 Sept 2022 Size - JRT Whilst he might be small he has got the personality of dreams, never stops making everybody smile and loves to make new friends. Cody is a wonderful little dog with a heart full of love and a lot of character. Rescued from Romania as a puppy, he came to us with a traumatic injury to his tail, which required surgery. He was quite a shy little pup, but was adopted into a home fairly quickly. Unfortunately this was not the right environment for Cody and he never really settled, so a year later he was back at DC. He was adopted out again and through no fault of his own was returned within a few weeks as the resident dog did not like him (Cody had been a perfect gentleman) so he came back yet again to live his best left with his Wonky friends. Cody is a sweet and friendly dog once he’s settled, but can be a little shy at first. Once he gets to know you, he’s an absolute bundle of fun! He’s great with other dogs, loves to run around and play, and is always up for an adventure. He’s also very curious and loves meeting new people while out on walks. Since being back in rescue Codys behaviour has changed a lot and he is now a happy wee chappy with everyone he meets, including strangers, so we feel that much of his behaviour in his first home was due to his environment and that a quieter relaxed home will bring out all of his positive attributes. Cody’s Likes and Dislikes: Cody loves to: zoom around and play chase with other dogs Sniff and explore new places Play tug-of-war with humans Chew on soft toys and get their stuffing out Enjoy treats, especially carrots Run after sticks and balls (though he never quite got the hang of fetch!) Cody dislikes Being bathed or towel dried The sound of neighbours in a flat or the buzzer going off Public transport or vet visits Training & Behavior: Cody has learned several commands, including Sit, Stay, Down, Watch, Come (his recall is good but could use reinforcement), and Leave It. He is generally good on the lead and enjoys his walks, though he can be a bit stubborn at times. Cody had shown some resource guarding in his first home, but has been easily trained out of this with positive reinforcement techniques. He should not be given bones or chew toys like yak chews, as he tends to guard them. Cody is happy around humans on walks, even strangers, and loves to sniff them, but he’ll always do things in his own way and at his own pace. He’s comfortable with being picked up and loves a cuddle.. As Mother Wolf always says "Never say Never" for a new home and although he is as happy as happy can be at the rescue he deserves so much more and would love his own people and a home of his own. We don’t think that Cody would like to live with small children, but older ones in a quiet home would be fine. Adoption Details: If you think you can offer Cody the quiet, loving home he needs, please complete an application form on our website at www.savingandrehomingstrays.org. A virtual home check and a £500 adoption donation will be required to adopt this special boy. Cody is looking for a family who can give him the space and understanding he needs to feel safe and loved. Could that be you? If you think you’re the perfect match for Cody, we’d love to hear from you!
