Some dogs are Extra Special . Meet Angus, a gentle Shepherd whose heart is literally breaking as he waits and hopes for a family.3 year old Angus has a chronic heart condition (well managed by medication) which means the stress of life at the shelter could kill him. When we first met Angus last April he was super shy. Not reactive, just worried about our intentions. We asked his rescuer, Sofia to work with him, socialising and training him around people to prepare for domestic life.We needed to know if he could cope. Angus has amazed us with his progress. He used to flinch at the reach of a hand. Now he trusts and asks for rubs. He used to hide his head from treats. Now, he comes to you for tasty favours.He has been an absolute angel during his Veterinary visits, travels well in the car, loves dogs, cats and is not destructive.Angus still needs love, patience and lots of love to continue his progress. His medication costs are £47 a month. It’s a commitment we ask his adopter to be prepared to make for life. Meanwhile, we would commit to fundraising for the costs of his travel to the UK.We see huge potential in this sweet boy. His heart may be a little broken but it is full of love. We have the most Divine news. Aura, our “little Goddess of the cool breeze” is now in foster in Wales; finally experiencing a kinder, better world after a brutal start in life.Originally from Greece, Aura and her siblings were found as puppies living on the roadside. Shortly after being spotted, Aura’s first sibling was killed by a passing car, the second contracted Parvovirus and died.By some cruel twist, Aura then suffered the same fate, twice over– contracting Parvo and also being hit by a car. Her chances of survival were slim to none. But our little Goddess did something miraculous. She fought the Parvo. She survived her injuries. She spent a month at the vets recovering.Today? Aura’s leg has healed beautifully. She is healthy. She is in the UK. Most incredibly, her sweet, kind heart is unblemished. This is what her fosterer says about her“Avra is an angel, her temperament is very gentle and loving, with people, cats and dogs. She desperately wants to be near me, but progress has to be at her pace. Last night, I was asleep, I heard something move and put my hand out…it was Avra. She stayed all night lying there. It was a beautiful moment. All our little Goddess needs now is time and patience with a person she can forever love”.True to her name, Aura has proved herself divine. Now, she needs the chance to simply be a puppy — to play, to learn, to be loved, and to grow up knowing she is safe in her forever home.

Blind since birth, beautiful 4 year old Barry has now been in our kennel space in Cambridgeshire for a few months undergoing a full assessment. He has adapted exceptionally well to his new environment. Everyone at the kennels has fallen in love with him but Barry needs a forever home and the search is now officially on!Barry has lived with other dogs and is good with other females but seems to love one on one human attention more than anything.Barry needs a very special home. He prefers women to men and can live with children aged14 and older. He's been castrated and is fit and well. He could live in a ground floor home that is quiet with a separate space when visitors come. He loves to roam outside and is a clever lad with scent based play. He's so clever with his toys and puzzlesBarry will need someone prepared to build up a bond with him. We ️ him and his funny personality.

Beautiful Berni was rescued last year from a kill shelter in Serbia. He was very underweight and neglected but since being sponsored by Saving Saints in an experienced. paid foster placement he's gained weight and is now fit and well. He's neutered and has a complete bill of health, negative to all blood borne diseases including Brucellosis. Bernie's resilience and optimism, especially after everything he has been through is inspiring. He especially loves children.Bernie currently shares space with numerous other rescues in the shelter and can live with male and female dogs. Cinnamon is simply stunning. Rescued from the streets, she came with very little history and was clearly unloved but still, she trusts people. In fact, she is so desperate for human affection and interaction, she cries out for it, often all day. She is extremely unhappy in the shelter and it is heartbreaking to watch. Please, please consider her for your family and offer her the love and care she so desperately seeks.

Found starved and in terrible condition at the roadside, the volunteers at Happy Tails Shelter rescued Corro at the brink of death and nursed him back to health, The shelter saved Corro's life. But as Yiota, the volunteer who found him says "I don't want him to stay here forever. He deserves someone to love him". At just 3 years old, Corro is gentle, playful and fantastic with people and other dogs. He has not been cat tested but this can be arranged.

If 5 year old Dili could change one thing about her life at the shelter, we are guessing her wish would be to live with people. all day, every day, for the rest of her life.Dili’s love of humans is relentless. Whether a familiar friend or a new face, Dili greets everyone who enters the shelter in the same way - with a rush of excitement , a lick of love, a bum wiggle of joy and a belly-roll of delight. She simply thinks people are the best thing ever invented and has even gained herself a reputation for climbing the shelter fence in an attempt to follow the visitors home.In Dili’s world, even a trip to donate blood at the vets offers a precious chance for cuddles and love. By happily giving her blood to other shelter dogs in need post-surgery or injury, Dili has saved tens of lives. Now we think it’s her turn to be saved - from a life of loneliness to one full of love.Dili gets one fantastically well will all the other dogs at the shelter and only ever gets grumpy if they try to steal her food. She determinedly sees off any treat marauders, not with malice, just with a quick correcting move.We think it is truly tragic that this selfless girl lives such a restricted life. Please return the love she so generously gives and offer her a home.

Gabby got her name from her foster carer, Lynda, who met her during a volunteering trip to the Happy Tails Shelter in Greece. With her distinctive black eye patch, this one year-old shepherd girl reminded Lynda of the singer Gabrielle, making the name a perfect fit! Now, all Gabby needs is someone to show her that dreams really can come true by giving her a loving family to call her own.Poor Gabby had her ears and tailed mutilated before she was rescued from the streets, meaning she needed to travel to the UK before the ban on importing cropped-eared dogs came into play. With Lynda’s kind sponsorship, Gabby made it out of the shelter and into the UK 5 weeks ago, just in time. She is now being fostered by Lynda in Cardiff and has settled wonderfully into family life. As Lynda is a licensed home boarder, Gabby has the opportunity to meet lots of different dogs and whilst she likes to take a little time to get to know new canine friends, once she does, Gabby's playful and fun-loving personality shines through.This is what Lynda says about Gabby;“From the moment I met her, I knew Gabby was special. I’m so glad she has proven me right. Gabby has been an absolute joy to foster and is such a pleasure to have around the home. She loves her walks, gets incredibly excited at mealtimes, and is always happy to shower her favourite people with affection. Gabby can live with dogs, cats and children aged 10 and above. Although I will be sad to see her go, I know that my job - to get Gabby out of the shelter and into her first home, is almost done. Gabby is now ready to find a forever family who will continue to help her blossom and give her all the love she deserves”

Magical, handsome and, at 36kg, actually not that big (!) Hagrid’s story is a sad tale.Adopted from Romania, Hagrid lived with his family - mum, dad and border collie brother - perfectly happily for four years…..until Hagrid’s mum became pregnant. Hagrid took his job of protecting mum and baby very seriously (he is after all a guardian breed!) warning people to keep away and correcting his border collie brother when he got too excited. All this landed Hagrid in trouble and despite (or perhaps because of) his devotion, Hagrid’s family decided they couldn’t keep him any more. *Our behaviourist, Julian visited Hagrid in the home and can tell you that although Hagrid got it all a bit wrong, his intentions were entirely honourable. With loving, firm guidance we believe Hagrid will make a fabulous family pet. Loving, devoted, ridiculously handsome, good with people housetrained, gentle on the lead, not destructive …..we think Hagrid deserves a chance to prove how magical he really is.Hagrid needs to be the only dog in the home. Families with children over 14yrs are welcome to apply.

It's official. Lennox is our most loved, most handsome and most unlucky dog.Lennox recently celebrated a very sad birthday, marking 4 years of being in our care - 12 months in a home, the rest in kennels. That's 4 years too long. That's 4 years waiting for the forever family we know Lennox would worship.Yes, he is a strong boy who struggles to make doggy friends. But Lennox makes up for this challenge in so many ways. He simply ADORES people. He bonds very, very deeply. He loves unconditionally.If you think you can offer Lennox the same love, devotion and understanding in return, please read on, hear his story, and talk to us about Lennox!Lennox loves people and is simply a bouncy goof ball - mostly Mastiff/ Boxer/Corso mix with a tiny bit of St Bernard thrown in! Lennox was born in the UK and found wandering the streets of a town in the Northeast of England at just 10 months old. Since then, his story has broken our hearts. Lennox has been picked several times, adopted twice but ended up coming back to us each time through no fault of his own. Lennox has spent nearly 3 years in kennels all in all. Most recently Lennox was adopted by a lovely woman and we thought he had finally found his golden settee. He bonded deeply with his owner, lived well with visiting children but, due to a drastic change in the circumstances, Lennox was given up and returned to kennels in January this year. Everyone who meets Lennox falls madly in love with him. Despite everything he has been through, Lennox has never lost his spirit and joy for life. But the moving from one place to another and extended time in kennels has taken its toll. Lennox used to be able to walk past dogs on the lead. Sadly he is now dog reactive. He needs help to overcome his anxieties in this direction. But he is super bright, keen to learn and desperate to be loved. We truly believe that in the right environment, Lennox can learn to be calm around other dogs, even if he can never live with another furry. Gentle, silky coated, super friendly Paddy was born three years ago to a stray mother on the streets of Nafpatkos in Greece. The runt of the litter, Paddy’s brothers - desperate to increase their own chances of survival -chased him away, leaving Paddy defenceless at four weeks old. When a kind rescuer found him, Paddy was close to death, starving and freezing cold. She saved his life by picking him up and bringing him to the shelter, where he has remained ever since. But for Paddy the shelter has never felt like home. His rescuers know that this kind boy has always yearned something softer, warmer - a family of his own.And so, they took Paddy on a day trip around the town, just to test if he was ready for his forever home…..In other words, Paddy passed his test with flying colours! We know he is fantastically homeable and deserves a chance to leave the shelter, never having to fear being chased away again.
