About Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary

The Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary (SGS) was established in 2008 as an independent charity with no ties to the racing industry, dedicated to rescuing and rehoming greyhounds and lurchers across Scotland. Run entirely by volunteers who balance their rescue work alongside jobs, families and their own pets, SGS is driven by passion and commitment to the breed. The charity receives no government or racing industry funding and relies solely on donations, grants and fundraising efforts to continue its work. Through community support, SGS provides vulnerable sighthounds with a safe path to loving homes.

Dev

Scotland
SexMale
Age8 years
BreedGreyhound

Dev is a beautiful brindle boy, who starte showing his cuddly side soon after being welcomed to his foster home. He sleeps well through the night, on his own bed. In the morning he will let you know when it is time to wake up, at around 7.30. After giving the alarm clock he loves to start the day with some cuddles and a few spins around the house. The rest of the day, in typical greyhound style, is mostly snoozed away. That is, aside from his walkies, which he loves. He is fully house trained and generally very clean in the house. A lovely cuddly companion, who will sleep the whole day with his head on your lap if you let him :) Dev is also a very communicative fellow, knows perfectly well how to train his humans to get what he wants, we will check with him soon to see how well he has trained his foster parents! He also walks very well on lead, aside from when cats are around. He can be a bit grumpy when meeting dogs on his walks and his foster parents are working on this. He will need to be the only dog in the house. If you would like to know more about this lovely chap get in touch with us!

Norman, a Unknown old male Greyhound available for adoption from Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary in Scotland

Norman

Scotland
SexMale
AgeUnknown
BreedGreyhound

Norman is a bouncy lad, good with people and very good natured. He comes from a disqualified trainer, so he has not had the best start. Despite that, he is such a joyful lad and we have no doubt he will turn into a gentleman if someone takes a little time to show him the ropes and some kindness. And in fact he has already made so much progress! For example, when he came into our care his leash manners were...well in need of being polished :) But in a short amount of time he has improved so much. He still jumps up to say hello, as he so likes the company of people! He is lovely to be around and a foodie - I mean...a real foodie :) Likes walking and so he will need a slightly more active family. For example he would work very well fore someone who needs company during their daily walking routine :) He also gets on with all his kennel friends. Such a great lad, who has so much to give!

Simba, a 4 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary in Scotland

Simba

Scotland
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedGreyhound

Simba is a beautiful little hound, a rare silver brindle. He has just been welcomed to a lovely foster home, where he is enjoying life with his foster brothers and sisters. He is happy at heart, waggly and inquisitive . He is described as an adorable pooch, who loves to gently play with his soft toys, sniffing new smells, making a nest with his blankets or bedding. He is extremely polite. Michelle at the kennels has worked on building up his confidence and we are happy to report that this little pooch has made quite some progress. If approached gently, he does warm up to new people. He just does not like to be petted too much - at least not straight away - and he will need a family who can respect his boundaries and give him time to come to you rather than the other way around. He is being toilet trained at the moment. He will thrive in a calm, quiet environment, possibly in a rural home away from the hustle and bustle. Simba will need understanding owners who will help him to get to know the world at his own pace and help him build the confidence to show his cheeky side - side which is definitely coming out now that he is in foster :) He might also benefit from having the right canine companion. All this little hound is looking for is a quiet life and lots of love.
