About St Francis Dogs Home

St Francis Dogs Home is a dog rescue and rehoming centre dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes for dogs and puppies in need. Founded in 1955 by Nancy Bates and fellow animal welfare supporters, the charity was established to prevent unwanted and stray dogs from being euthanised when rehoming was possible. Operating as a charitable trust since 1961, St Francis Dogs Home has focused exclusively on dog rescue since 1999 and now rehomes up to 200 dogs each year. Supported by donations, legacies, and volunteers, the centre provides care, stability, and compassion for every dog until a suitable forever home is found.

Hi everyone! My name is Blue, I am around 2-4 years old and I am looking for my forever homeI have had a scary few weeks, finding myself alone after my dear owner unfortunately passed away. I was brought to St Francis Dogs Home and the Staff and Volunteers here have been so kind and loving to me. I am growing in confidence every day!I am now ready to look for a new loving home. I need a home with adult only home, no cats and no dogs please. I love other dogs but currently lack the skills to live with a dog. I need really patient owners that will work with me as I have not seen much of the world so far. This lead walking malarkey is new to me so I am very strong at the moment and practicing this here at the centre. I am also currently entire and re-starting my vaccines. If you think you could offer me a loving home where I can continue to build in confidence please fill in an adoption form.

FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPTDexter is a beautiful 2 year old, male Border Collie (Tricolour Blue Slate) who is looking for an understanding home. Someone who enjoys having a dog but doesn’t feel the need to be talking to or cuddling it all the time.Dexter needs a quiet and spacious home No children, no cats or small furries. He does get on with calm female dogs subject to meeting and we think a female dog would help him. He is not comfortable around male dogs.Dexter has been bred from working stock. He is not yet neutered due to his low confidence but he is chemically neutered and we would look to continue this for the foreseeable future. He would suit a couple or a single person with a large outdoor garden or land. He does enjoy a walk in quiet woods and he enjoys being played with but equally he is happy to amuse himself with his toys in the garden.PLEASE ONLY APPLY FOR DEXTER IF YOU CAN OFFER HIM A QUIET HOME WITH A GOOD SIZE GARDEN OR LAND AND IF YOU HAVE A CALM FEMALE DOG THEN SO MUCH THE BETTER

Ted, a 2 years old male Cockapoo available for adoption from St Francis Dogs Home in Cornwall

Ted

Cornwall
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedCockapoo

I’m a 14-month-old, unneutered male Cockerpoo with a big heart and lots of love to give. I will happily soak up all the fuss and attention you can offer. I’m playful, affectionate, and still very much a puppy at heart. I find the world very exciting!Because I’m young and bouncy, I can be a bit rude with my greetings — I sometimes jump up and put my paws on other dogs’ faces when I’m excited. I don’t mean any harm; I just get over-enthusiastic! I’ll need continued training and socialisation to help me learn better manners. I could live with a well rounded dog that could help me learn these skills and that would tolerate my bouncy nature.I’m looking for active, training-minded owners who are ready to put time and consistency into helping me become the best version of myself. I need work on my lead walking and recall, and I’ll really benefit from positive, ongoing training.I’m a sensitive boy as well as a lively one, so I’d do best in a home with older school aged children who understand dogs, will respect my space, and aren’t fazed by a bit of bounce. I can be left alone for up to 3 hours but prefer more company. I’d prefer a home in a quieter road setting where I won’t be overwhelmed by too much hustle and bustle. If you’re patient, kind, and ready to guide a loving, cheeky young lad into adulthood, I promise to reward you with loyalty, fun, and endless affection. Please fill out a rehoming form:
