About STAR Adopt

Stronger Together Animal Rescue (STAR) is a registered charity (1168941) dedicated to relieving the suffering of abandoned, stray and neglected dogs and cats in Cyprus. Working through a network of trustees and volunteers in both the UK and Cyprus, the organisation rescues animals from shelters and pounds, providing rehabilitation and finding them loving homes in the UK. STAR promotes humane and compassionate treatment of animals and follows a policy of never euthanising unless it is the only humane option. Through rescue work, adoption support and ongoing guidance for adopters and foster carers, the charity helps vulnerable animals escape cruelty and begin a safer new life.

She is currently in Aberdeenshire, and due to family changes, she is looking for a new forever home. Ember has been with her family for 4 years. This is what her existing family says about this stunning girl – Ember is very loving once she gets to know you but can be nervous / reactive of strangers. She has also been nervous of small kids in the past. She is fine with other dogs however can be lead reactive. She regularly stays at my mums house with 2 other dogs and 2 cats. She is also good around our horses. She is very active and loves long walks, running on the beach and in open fields. She has very good recall Despite initially having some separation anxiety she can now be left on her own for periods of time (we’ve left her up to 5 hours without an issue) She has had operations on both elbows for elbow dysplasia however has made a full recovery and it doesn’t seem to hinder her Ember has received positive training and continues with her training. This has helped her with her confidence and socialising. Fivos foster in Norwich Fivos foster in NorwichOur handsome Fivos, is roughly 5 -6 years old, a Husky cross shepherd and currently with his foster mum in Norwich. This boy was found as a stray in Cyprus and lived for about 2 years in the shelter, with no chance of being adopted, so we flew him to his wonderful foster home in Feb Fivos has thrived since his arrival, he has found home comforts which he absolutely loves, his face radiates and enjoys playing with toys. Fivos travels very well in a car, he sits like a good boy, watching the world go by, actually he loves car rides. He is fully house trained, and can be left for a couple of hours on his own. Walks and adventures are a must for Fivos, he is good with meeting other dogs and his foster mum has found out that any size dog is accepted by Fivos as long as introductions are managed. He meets dogs every day on his walks and enjoys their company. Dogs his size are his favourite and he plays well with them. For a month he shared his foster home with an old very calm female dog, and although he can live with another dog, we will rehome Fivos as an only dog in his forever home. Fivos is somewhat a typical husky with a little stubbornness but he knows when a firm No is made. He will let you know if he doesn’t want to do something which is typical of his breed, and he therefore needs a strong and experienced owner that understands his language. Ideally Fivos needs a big breed experience owner , someone that will continue with his training and become his pack leader. Someone that Fivos knows he is safe with and can trust If you love adventures, experienced with this breed or similar large breeds, and looking for true companion, please let us know no Children and we will consider a home with a dog savvy cat as he has been super friendly and gentle with all cats he has met, preferably a single person as Fivos only needs one leader and plenty of family and friends for those extra cuddles, as he is very loving and cuddly. Fivos attends weekly training classes, which he absolutely loves, he is a quick learner and we think the shepherd in him, makes him very trainable with a busy little mind. His start to life hasn’t been kind — likely from a puppy mill and later found abandoned. He was sadly at risk of being put to sleep before coming into our care. Since then, Leo has had double patella surgery and shown amazing progress. He’s playful, affectionate, and doing well with calm dogs of similar size. However, he’s now starting to get depressed in the kennels and urgently needs a loving home. We’re looking for an experienced, adult-only home with no other dogs or cats. Roxy foster in Cambridgeshire Roxy is looking for a new forever home in the UK. She is currently in Cambridgeshire area, she is almost 5 years old, and a large size lady. He adopters circumstances will be changing soon, and he had to make the difficult decision for us to find a new home for Roxy, as a busy family home will not be suitable for Roxy. This is all about Roxy - About Roxy Roxy loves going for walks and will eagerly head to the door whenever she senses it might be time to go out. She particularly enjoys exploring the outdoors and is happiest when walking in the countryside on a long lead where she can investigate her surroundings. She enjoys playing with toys, especially rope toys and squeaky toys – her favourite being her Christmas pudding toy. Roxy is a loyal and affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with her people. In the home she is calm and settled, and she enjoys being close to you, often following from room to room before lying down nearby. When she is tired she prefers to sleep in quieter areas of the house where she is less aware of passers-by and can properly relax. Roxy thrives in a secure home environment and is generally very good with guests inside the house. Exercise and Environment Roxy benefits most from structured walks rather than paddock-style exercise. She will happily play and fetch a ball, but care should be taken not to over-excite her as she sometimes forgets how strong she is. She would do best in a calm, predictable home. Due to her natural protective instincts, a quieter setting such as a village location, a home with a large garden, or easy access to countryside walks would suit her well. Her current routine includes a longer walk in the morning and evening, with a shorter walk around lunchtime. Walking and Handling Roxy needs a confident and patient handler when out on the lead. She can become reactive if other dogs, bikes, cars or unfamiliar people get too close or approach from behind. With calm, consistent handling and good awareness of her surroundings, she can be guided through potentially stressful situations successfully. Taking the time to manage her environment and maintain space from triggers helps her walk well. Roxy has a strong instinct to protect her person and their space, so she benefits from clear leadership and someone experienced who can confidently manage interactions when out and about. Other Animals Roxy can be selective with other dogs and can be particularly wary of some female dogs. She may be able to live with a calm, well-trained dog that could act as a positive role model, but careful introductions would be essential. Due to her strong prey drive she cannot live with small animals, cats, or small dogs. Fast-moving animals such as squirrels are very difficult for her to ignore. Home Environment Roxy has previously lived with children and an older male dog. However, she would likely do best in a quieter home environment. A single-person household or an experienced owner able to provide confident leadership would suit her well. If children are present, they should be older and confident around dogs. Roxy’s protective nature means she needs careful handling in situations where people or dogs approach unexpectedly. When managed calmly and proactively, these situations can usually be diffused. Training Roxy is currently receiving regular training with ElysiuMk9uk to help manage her reactivity and continue developing her skills. Additional Information • Roxy travels well in the car. • She is happy sleeping either in a crate or beside your bed (although she does snore!). • She is fed twice a day with dry food and a small amount of wet food. • She can be left for up to four hours in a calm, low-stress environment. • Like many dogs, she will happily help herself to unattended food if given the opportunity. Summary Roxy is a loving and loyal dog who thrives in a stable home environment with someone willing to invest time in understanding and managing her needs. With the right experienced owner, a calm setting, and continued training, she has the potential to build a very strong and rewarding bond. If you have a calm home, in a rural setting, experienced with large size dogs, enjoy training, can offer leadership and consistency to a dog, please get in touch.
