About Suffolk Animal Rescue

Suffolk Animal Rescue (SAR) was founded in 1997 by Jayne Roberts after she chose to leave a national charity in order to focus solely on animal welfare without political restrictions. The rescue’s ethos is to help any dog in need, regardless of breed or rehoming difficulty, and it is particularly known for specialising in the rehabilitation of feral cats. SAR operates a cattery in Debenham, an overflow facility in Ipswich, and—since 2024—a supporter-funded kennel in Pettistree near Woodbridge. A long-running charity shop in Ipswich also plays a vital role in funding food and veterinary care for the animals in their care.
