About Team Poundie

Team Poundie is a registered charity (1166962) founded in 2016 to save dogs at risk in local pounds and beyond. Based in Telford with volunteers across the UK, the charity rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs while also providing emergency veterinary funding, neutering support, and crisis assistance to struggling owners. With access to emergency kennels and its own rescue van for transport, Team Poundie works quickly to protect dogs facing euthanasia. Beyond rescue, the organisation focuses on preventative welfare—helping tackle the root causes so fewer dogs ever reach crisis point.

Bluey

West Midlands
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedCrossbreed

2 Years Old | Neutered | No Small Children | Pet Free HomeBluey’s story nearly ended before it began. Found tied to a tree, weak, injured, and barely able to stand, his future looked bleak. Thankfully, a kind veterinary nurse saved him, and Team Poundie stepped in to give him the chance he so desperately deserved. Now safe in our care, Bluey has already shown what a resilient, loving boy he is. He settled into kennels quickly and has formed wonderful bonds with his carers.Bluey has been assessed by our behaviourist and is a young, intelligent mixed bull breed with a big heart. He has shown friendly curiosity towards other dogs he’s met in kennels, though as we don’t know his full history, we can’t confirm if he could live with another dog. He’s a striking-looking boy – perhaps not everyone’s type – but those who love him will see past appearances and discover a gentle soul. With consistent training (which he really enjoys), Bluey has the potential to grow into a truly magnificent companion.Bluey has already shown so much love and trust to his carers. He thrives on treat-based training and absolutely loves his food (luckily, his playful energy keeps him in great shape!).When meeting new people, Bluey greets them with enthusiasm – sometimes a little too much – but he quickly settles and shows his affectionate side. He walks well on the lead, though being a strong lad, he’ll need someone confident handling him.Playful, interactive, and eager to learn, Bluey is finally beginning to experience the joy of life as any young dog should.Bluey is looking for a forever home where he can continue his journey and become the best version of himself. He’ll need:A home with enough space to comfortably accommodate his size.No children under 12, as he can be big and bouncy at times. An owner experienced with larger or bull breeds, who combines strength with kindness.A commitment to provide not just love, but ongoing training to help Bluey thrive.A pet-free home to start with, although with careful introductions and the right match, it may be possible for him to live with a well-socialised dog.

Buddy, a 7 years old male Labrador available for adoption from Team Poundie in West Midlands

Buddy

West Midlands
SexMale
Age7 years
BreedLabrador

7 Years Old | Entire | No Small Children | Only DogMeet Buddy, our new boy-on-the-block! (not literally – he is with his current owners until we can find him a home). He is a handsome, mature black LabradorHe finds himself in a new environment as life changes for his owner and it is not going too well. He needs to be somewhere where he can have the run of the downstairs and garden at least and no sudden surprises that make him and his new household wary.We met Buddy and spent some time with him. He greeted us very gently, no over excitement of jumping up. A gentle sniff and went about his business. He took treats gently too, even though he is food orientated – as many Labs are. We went for a short walk – yes he is strong and does pull to get to things to sniff at, but not at all unmanageable. He walked past other people without the slightest interest in them.Buddy has been a beloved family member since a pup, and it will be a real wrench for his owner to part with him – sometimes it just happens that you have to put the dog’s needs before your own.He can be a little wary of meeting new people. He is used to spending some time on his own, but he would rather not. He does bark at sudden noises he doesn’t understand. He barked when we knocked the door, but not too much at all.He sleeps in his bed all night with no issues. He loves a walk of course and like most Labs, loves any water he can get into! He is uninterested in cats and other dogs but has not lived with them.He is not neutered and we would take the Vet’s advise on this, at his age.Buddy would love somewhere that he can relax and chill and wander about to his heart’s content.Buddy does not need much! Mostly love and companionship (and maybe strong arms!). If you think you can offer him a home, please do apply.

Gordon, a 5 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Team Poundie in West Midlands

Team Poundie

Gordon

West Midlands
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedGreyhound

4/5 Years Old | Neutered | No Small Children | Pet Free HomeGordon’s story is sadly all too common. As a Poundie, he was abandoned and taken to a council pound where his life expectancy would have been heartbreakingly short. Thankfully, Team Poundie stepped in, giving him safety, veterinary care, and the chance of a real future. We’re not entirely sure of Gordon’s breed mix, though he appears to be a Greyhound cross. He carries some scars on his legs, suggesting a difficult past, which has left him a little nervous – and who could blame him?At first, we thought he was around 2 years old, but the more we’ve got to know him, the more we feel he may be closer to 4 or 5. Gordon has shown some separation anxiety, but he clearly loves the comfort and reassurance of his carers. Like many sighthounds, he also has the instinct to stalk and chase, and would happily take off exploring if given the chance!Despite his past, Gordon is a gentle, calm, and quiet boy. He doesn’t demand much – just kindness, company, and the chance to potter about and enjoy life.He walks nicely on the lead and isn’t overly focused on people around him, but with time and patience, he will learn to trust and relax in human company. He doesn’t need hours of exercise – just some daily stimulation, gentle walks, and a consistent routine will keep him content.Don’t be fooled by his soft nature though – true to his sighthound roots, he would happily give chase to smaller animals if the opportunity arose!Gordon will need a special home that can offer him calm and security as he continues to rebuild his trust:No children under 10, as we don’t know his history with younger ones.A pet-free home with no cats, rabbits, or other small furries.Ideally the only dog, though with careful introductions, another calm dog may be possible.A peaceful home environment, with space to stretch out, relax, and plenty of safe areas to sniff and explore.

Murphy, a 4 years old male American Bulldog available for adoption from Team Poundie in West Midlands

Team Poundie

Murphy

West Midlands
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedAmerican Bulldog

4 Years Old | Neutered | Children 14+ | No Cats or small animalsMurphy is a young American Bulldog with a heart full of love, a body full of excitement, and a brain that’s learning how to slow down.Rescued from the pound by Team Poundie after being surrendered by his original owners, Murphy’s story is all too familiar—too giddy, too excitable, and simply too much for a home that didn’t have the tools to support him.But under the care of our dedicated team, Murphy has made real progress. He’s now used to structure, boundaries, and positive reinforcement, and while he’s still a work in progress, what shines through is his sweet, unsure nature and his eagerness to please.Murphy is a big softie wrapped in a bouncy, boisterous body. He’s learning how to manage his impulses, and we’ve already seen huge improvements in his behaviour:“Once his initial excitement passes, he’s just a gentle, anxious boy trying his best.”He can hump or mount his handlers when overstimulated—usually when anticipating walks or exciting activities—but this is being managed well with training and consistency.Murphy’s journey is one of growth. In kennels, he’s learning how to regulate himself, respond to calm cues, and build trust with handlers. His reactivity around other dogs and people stems more from frustration and inexperience than true aggression. He thrives when he feels safe, and with the right handler, his confidence continues to blossom. He’s not food or toy possessive, and he shows no malice—just a lack of understanding about how to manage all the big feelings inside him. He needs a home where his training can continue, his signals are understood, and his giddy, lovable energy is given structure and support. No cats, small animals, or children under 14 (due to his excitability)An experienced bull breed owner—ideally with knowledge of reactive or undersocialised dogsA calm, patient, and confident handler who can offer routine, boundaries, and kindnessA few pre-adoption meetings to build trust and reduce overstimulationPossibly could live with a calm, well-balanced dog (with careful introductions)Continued training around impulse control and frustration management (we’ll support you!)Someone who sees past his “giddy” to the sweet, sensitive soul underneathMurphy isn’t a bad dog. He’s a good boy who simply hasn’t been given the right tools—yet. But with the right person by his side, we know he will thrive.

Quill, a 1 year old male Belgian Malinois available for adoption from Team Poundie in West Midlands

Team Poundie

Quill

West Midlands
SexMale
Age1 year
BreedBelgian Malinois

10 Months Old | Entire | No Small Children | Pet Free HomeQuill is an 11 months old, Belgian Malinois and looking for his forever family. This little boy was caught in the system, scheduled to be euthanised, simply because he had overstayed his welcome at the Pound. We worked together with our colleagues in the rescue world to save his life. BUT that was just the start. He was a typical ‘Mali’ – as well as being very young, unsocialised, untrained and scared. There was a lot of work to do but we knew he was worth it.Quill initially spent time in our kennels while he was assessed and he responded very well. He is now in specialised foster, as this is the best option for getting him to a place where he can be re-homed. He has experienced consistency, patience, love and most of all, basic training and socialisation. He is a super dog, intelligent, willing to learn, super active of course. He has great potential – in the right home, with the right owners.Within a couple of weeks of being in a home Quill began to show his character – wanting to learn and be approved off, yes, but needing consistency and experienced handling and training. Because of his breed we believe he has needed extra input to give him an advantage of rehoming, especially as he is still quite an anxious boy. He is now:While he sounds like the most obedient, re-homable dog we have ever had – this is a Mali and a nervous Mali at that. He will need an exceptional owner who is willing to to put in the time, attention and environment to complete Quill’s progress. We want a happy, confident, social, responsive adult dog in the next stage of his young life. Can you provide:He is currently located in the North East of England. If so, then please do a apply using the link below and will arrange meet and greets after successful home assessments.
