About Team Poundie

Team Poundie is a registered charity (1166962) founded in 2016 to save dogs at risk in local pounds and beyond. Based in Telford with volunteers across the UK, the charity rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs while also providing emergency veterinary funding, neutering support, and crisis assistance to struggling owners. With access to emergency kennels and its own rescue van for transport, Team Poundie works quickly to protect dogs facing euthanasia. Beyond rescue, the organisation focuses on preventative welfare—helping tackle the root causes so fewer dogs ever reach crisis point.

Alfie, a 2 years old male Crossbreed available for adoption from Team Poundie in West Midlands

Alfie

West Midlands
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedCrossbreed

2 Years Old | Neutered | Older ChildrenAlfie was pulled from a pound where his time had sadly run out. He’s an adult Lurcher-type dog with very limited eyesight, and without intervention, his future was bleak. Team Poundie stepped in, settling him into safe, comfortable kennels — but it was clear straight away that Alfie needed a home, and quickly.A veterinary assessment confirms that Alfie is an adult dog, older than two years but not elderly.Thankfully, a wonderful foster family came forward, and Alfie is now enjoying life in a loving (though temporary) home. Once he realised that food was regular and reliable, he relaxed significantly — the counter-surfing stopped, and his gentle nature really shone through.Alfie behaves beautifully indoors. He enjoys lounging, cuddles, and calm companionship, and is fully house trained. He loves pottering around the garden, taking in the world through scent and sound rather than sight.Alfie can be unsure around some dogs, likely due to his time homeless and his limited vision. When out walking, he may react by barking and then freezing, needing reassurance and gentle encouragement to move on.That said, Alfie has successfully shared a home and garden with another dog without any aggression. His challenges come from over-excitement and a lack of doggy manners rather than malice. This can include bouncy play and mouthing, which is why we would recommend a home without small children.Despite his eyesight, Alfie navigates the house and garden confidently. His close vision is very limited, so he may miss hand signals or treats held close, but he compensates well using his other senses. He has been fully vet-checked and, aside from his vision impairment, is a healthy adult dog. He has recently been neutered and is recovering well.Alfie will thrive with the right environment and support. His ideal home would offer:A calm, patient owner or family who can help him settle, decompress, and continue building confidenceSupport with managing his reactivity to dogs when out walking (Team Poundie can assist with behaviourist support if needed)An uncluttered home and garden so he can move around safely and confidentlyAn adult-only home, or one with older, dog-savvy childrenSomeone who is home most of the time, or can ensure Alfie is comfortable and safe when left aloneA very secure garden where he can explore independentlyA calm, socially mature resident dog may be possible — and could even be a bonus to help him learn polite dog behaviourAlfie’s foster family describe him as “gorgeous” — and we couldn’t agree more. He’s a gentle, affectionate soul who has already come so far and is so close to being everything he can be.If you think you could offer Alfie the safe, loving home he deserves, applications can be made via our website or by emailing info@teampoundie.com.Thank you for reading, liking, and sharing — every single click truly does count.

2 Years Old | Neutered | No Small Children | Pet Free HomeBluey’s story nearly ended before it began. Found tied to a tree, weak, injured, and barely able to stand, his future looked bleak. Thankfully, a kind veterinary nurse saved him, and Team Poundie stepped in to give him the chance he so desperately deserved. Now safe in our care, Bluey has already shown what a resilient, loving boy he is. He settled into kennels quickly and has formed wonderful bonds with his carers.Bluey has been assessed by our behaviourist and is a young, intelligent mixed bull breed with a big heart. He has shown friendly curiosity towards other dogs he’s met in kennels, though as we don’t know his full history, we can’t confirm if he could live with another dog. He’s a striking-looking boy – perhaps not everyone’s type – but those who love him will see past appearances and discover a gentle soul. With consistent training (which he really enjoys), Bluey has the potential to grow into a truly magnificent companion.Bluey has already shown so much love and trust to his carers. He thrives on treat-based training and absolutely loves his food (luckily, his playful energy keeps him in great shape!).When meeting new people, Bluey greets them with enthusiasm – sometimes a little too much – but he quickly settles and shows his affectionate side. He walks well on the lead, though being a strong lad, he’ll need someone confident handling him.Playful, interactive, and eager to learn, Bluey is finally beginning to experience the joy of life as any young dog should.Bluey is looking for a forever home where he can continue his journey and become the best version of himself. He’ll need:A home with enough space to comfortably accommodate his size.No children under 12, as he can be big and bouncy at times. An owner experienced with larger or bull breeds, who combines strength with kindness.A commitment to provide not just love, but ongoing training to help Bluey thrive.A pet-free home to start with, although with careful introductions and the right match, it may be possible for him to live with a well-socialised dog.

Dottie

SexFemale
Age2 years
BreedJack Russell Terrier x Chihuahua

2 Years Old | Unneutered | No Children | No PetsDottie is a lovely Jack Russell x Chihuahua, just under 2 years old and currently unneutered. Through no fault of her own, she is looking for a new home where she can have the time, companionship and attention she deserves.Dottie truly is the sweetest little girl. Sadly, due to work commitments, she is being left alone for long periods, and her family feel she would be much happier in a home where she has more company and regular walks. They want the very best for her future.Dottie may bark when she first meets new people, but this is simply her way of saying she’s unsure. After a few sniffs and a gentle introduction, she quickly settles and is soon asking for fuss and affection. She is clean in the house — even when left for longer periods — and is not destructive. She enjoys sitting at the window watching the world go by, though she may bark if dogs pass.Dottie loves playtime, especially with her squeaky toys, and enjoys a game of fetch. She can be a little reluctant to give toys back, but will happily swap for a tasty treat! She takes treats very gently and will sit nicely when asked. When over-excited she can become slightly mouthy, but this is brief, not aggressive, and something that can easily be improved with calm guidance and consistency. At bedtime, Dottie loves nothing more than curling up beside you — she’s a real cuddle companion. She hasn’t had much opportunity to socialise with other dogs, and currently tends to bark at both dogs and people when out on walks. With patient training, regular outings and positive introductions, this is something that can absolutely be improved. She is still young and very capable of learning.A home where someone is around most of the time (she can be left, but ideally only for shorter periods)No children, as she has not lived with them beforeAn owner willing to gently build her confidence with the outside worldWith the right guidance, Dottie will blossom into a confident and devoted little companion.Dottie is currently in Telford, Shropshire. Meet and greets can be arranged for home-checked applicants. She will have full rescue back up from Team Poundie, and neutering will be arranged. She really is a sweetheart who just needs someone to help her feel safe while she discovers that the world isn’t such a big, scary place after all. Could that someone be you?

Emma Rosie, a Unknown old female Labrador available for adoption from Team Poundie in West Midlands

Team Poundie

Emma Rosie

West Midlands
SexFemale
AgeUnknown
BreedLabrador

Rosie – or possibly Emma, as we’re still not sure of her name – had a very close call. She arrived from the pound in early August with less than 12 hours left before she was due to be put to sleep. She is a Labrador cross, though beyond that we don’t know much about her background. What we do know is that she is safe now, and finally has the chance to experience the life she deserves.Rosie (or Em, as we’re affectionately calling her) is a very nervous girl right now. Life hasn’t been kind to her, but we’re determined to change that and help her rediscover joy, trust, and comfort. We can’t yet say when she’ll be ready for rehoming – that will be entirely on her terms, when she feels safe and confident enough. You’ll be able to follow her journey on our Facebook page, and of course, we’re happy to answer any questions about her progress.Welcome to Team Poundie, little Em.Though still wary, Em is making encouraging progress every day. She has bonded with Kerry, who is caring for her in kennels, and recently even approached one of our volunteers to take treats – a huge step forward. Her tail is beginning to wag more often, and she enjoys stretching her legs with a gentle trot around the paddock. It’s early days, but the signs are so positive: beneath her nerves is a sweet-natured, gentle soul who is going to make a wonderful companion for someone patient and kind. When the time comes, Em will need a calm, understanding home where she can continue to build her confidence:A peaceful environment without too much hustle and bustle.Either a pet-free home, or one with a calm, mature dog who can gently show her the ropes. No children, as she is untested with them and could be easily startled. An owner willing to spend time getting to know her before adoption, giving her the chance to build trust at her own pace.Someone committed to continuing her gentle introduction to a safe, secure, and loving world.

Gordon, a 5 years old male Greyhound available for adoption from Team Poundie in West Midlands

Team Poundie

Gordon

West Midlands
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedGreyhound

4/5 Years Old | Neutered | No Small Children | Pet Free HomeGordon’s story is sadly all too common. As a Poundie, he was abandoned and taken to a council pound where his life expectancy would have been heartbreakingly short. Thankfully, Team Poundie stepped in, giving him safety, veterinary care, and the chance of a real future. We’re not entirely sure of Gordon’s breed mix, though he appears to be a Greyhound cross. He carries some scars on his legs, suggesting a difficult past, which has left him a little nervous – and who could blame him?At first, we thought he was around 2 years old, but the more we’ve got to know him, the more we feel he may be closer to 4 or 5. Gordon has shown some separation anxiety, but he clearly loves the comfort and reassurance of his carers. Like many sighthounds, he also has the instinct to stalk and chase, and would happily take off exploring if given the chance!Despite his past, Gordon is a gentle, calm, and quiet boy. He doesn’t demand much – just kindness, company, and the chance to potter about and enjoy life.He walks nicely on the lead and isn’t overly focused on people around him, but with time and patience, he will learn to trust and relax in human company. He doesn’t need hours of exercise – just some daily stimulation, gentle walks, and a consistent routine will keep him content.Don’t be fooled by his soft nature though – true to his sighthound roots, he would happily give chase to smaller animals if the opportunity arose!Gordon will need a special home that can offer him calm and security as he continues to rebuild his trust:No children under 10, as we don’t know his history with younger ones.A pet-free home with no cats, rabbits, or other small furries.Ideally the only dog, though with careful introductions, another calm dog may be possible.A peaceful home environment, with space to stretch out, relax, and plenty of safe areas to sniff and explore.

Murphy, a 4 years old male American Bulldog available for adoption from Team Poundie in West Midlands

Team Poundie

Murphy

West Midlands
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedAmerican Bulldog

4 Years Old | Neutered | Children 14+ | No Cats or small animalsMurphy is a young American Bulldog with a heart full of love, a body full of excitement, and a brain that’s learning how to slow down.Rescued from the pound by Team Poundie after being surrendered by his original owners, Murphy’s story is all too familiar—too giddy, too excitable, and simply too much for a home that didn’t have the tools to support him.But under the care of our dedicated team, Murphy has made real progress. He’s now used to structure, boundaries, and positive reinforcement, and while he’s still a work in progress, what shines through is his sweet, unsure nature and his eagerness to please.Murphy is a big softie wrapped in a bouncy, boisterous body. He’s learning how to manage his impulses, and we’ve already seen huge improvements in his behaviour:“Once his initial excitement passes, he’s just a gentle, anxious boy trying his best.”He can hump or mount his handlers when overstimulated—usually when anticipating walks or exciting activities—but this is being managed well with training and consistency.Murphy’s journey is one of growth. In kennels, he’s learning how to regulate himself, respond to calm cues, and build trust with handlers. His reactivity around other dogs and people stems more from frustration and inexperience than true aggression. He thrives when he feels safe, and with the right handler, his confidence continues to blossom. He’s not food or toy possessive, and he shows no malice—just a lack of understanding about how to manage all the big feelings inside him. He needs a home where his training can continue, his signals are understood, and his giddy, lovable energy is given structure and support. No cats, small animals, or children under 14 (due to his excitability)An experienced bull breed owner—ideally with knowledge of reactive or undersocialised dogsA calm, patient, and confident handler who can offer routine, boundaries, and kindnessA few pre-adoption meetings to build trust and reduce overstimulationPossibly could live with a calm, well-balanced dog (with careful introductions)Continued training around impulse control and frustration management (we’ll support you!)Someone who sees past his “giddy” to the sweet, sensitive soul underneathMurphy isn’t a bad dog. He’s a good boy who simply hasn’t been given the right tools—yet. But with the right person by his side, we know he will thrive.
