About West Wales Poundies

West Wales Poundies was founded in 2007 after its founder stepped in to help two Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies facing euthanasia in a local pound. What began as an urgent effort to save a small number of at-risk dogs quickly grew into a dedicated rescue focused on helping unclaimed pound dogs across West Wales. Working with a small but committed team, the charity has since rescued and rehomed hundreds of dogs that would otherwise have been put to sleep. West Wales Poundies continues to focus on giving vulnerable dogs a second chance at life through rescue, rehabilitation, and responsible rehoming.

Barney, a 2 years old male Pocket Bully available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Barney

Wales
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedPocket Bully

Please meet the very handsome Barney who arrived with us as an unclaimed stray. This 2y.o Pocket Bullie is a great fun all rounder!! He’s a proper little character whose favourite thing in the world to do is to chase the hose pipe (which isn’t ideal when we’re trying to clean the kennels!) Barney can be a little strong on the lead at the start of his walk but soon settles. He is happy to walk past dogs but will react to dogs that bark at him. He would be better suited as an only dog and no cats. He’d suit children over 10y.o as he is a solid boy and would knock little ones over. He travels well in the car and enjoys the journey. Barney is a very friendly boy who loves life and everyone in it. He’d suit a fairy active home as he loves his daily walks.

Biscuit, a 5 years old male Lurcher available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

Biscuit

Wales
SexMale
Age5 years
BreedLurcher

Biscuit is another that arrived with us as an unclaimed stray. This beautiful Lurcher is 5y.o, he mixes well with dogs once carefully introduced but can be a bit dominant. He can't be rehomed with cats or small furries. Biscuit would suit a relatively active home and is suitable to go with older children. Biscuit walks well on the lead, enjoys his sprint in the enclosed field followed by a snooze!! As you can see from the photos one of his favourite pastimes is swimming, he absolutely loves the water!!! Biscuit does have some quirks, maybe that's why he has waited over 3 years for a home He does like to be left alone to eat. We will discuss any issues he has with anyone seriously considering offering him a home. Biscuit has the most loving nature and he likes nothing more than having one to one time with our volunteers. He does need an understanding home but will make someone a great companion

Bruce, a 6 years old male Lakeland Terrier available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Bruce

Wales
SexMale
Age6 years
BreedLakeland Terrier

Introducing this little pocket rocket aka Bruce who arrived at WWP as an unclaimed stray. Bruce is a 6y.o Patterdale who still thinks he’s a puppy!! He’s full of beans and has that mischievous glint in his eye!! Bruce is a busy little dog and would benefit from an active home. He’s been a regular in the pound and was constantly found straying. We don’t think he was regularly exercised in his last home, and that’s the one thing he loves. Bruce isn’t really interested in other dogs, he’s very independent, he is happy to greet them but likes to do his own thing. So he can either be rehomed as an only dog or with a calm dog. He will chase cats. He can be rehomed with children over 8y.o. Trying to take nice photos of Bruce was a task in itself, he doesn’t have time for standing still and posing he’d rather be doing ā€˜things’!!! He’s a lovable chap who will make someone a faithful companion, running buddy, or even a partner in crime Bruce walks well on the lead, travels well in the car and until he arrived at kennels had always lived in a house.

Bruno is dog friendly on and off lead, he mixes well with everyone and loves to play! He likes to play ball but refuses to bring it back! He can be a little strong on the lead but soon settles once he gets going. He travels well in the car and settles quickly. He would suit a family home and can be rehomed with children over 8y.o. Enzo

Wales
SexMale
Age2 years
BreedCrossbreed

Please meet this very handsome 18 month old Rottie cross who arrived with us, along with his sister Molly, as unclaimed strays. Enzo is everything you’d expect in a young Rottie, energetic, intelligent and full of fun! He has an adorable nature and greets everyone with enthusiasm! He does sometimes get a little carried away and can mouth when over excited, this is due to having no boundaries set or basic training when he was younger. He is however quick and eager to learn and is now so much better than he was when he first arrived. He is going to make an amazing companion to the right person. Due to his size he needs to be rehomed with teenagers and above. Enzo is dog friendly, mixing well with dogs on and off lead. He can be a little strong on the lead which has improved greatly with the use of a halti. He has not met cats. He travels well in the car and settles nicely for the journey. Enzo is a very smart boy who desperately wants to please. Rotties thrive on routine and love to learn and please. He just needs a committed human to show him the way so he can reach his full potential.

Please meet Mitzy a little 8 month old Chowsky pup (Chow x Husky) Mitzy is a shy little girl who has gone to a foster home to learn about home life. She is loving her new friends and is gaining so much confidence from them. She will need to be rehomed with a resident dog. Mitzy is a gentle soul and would suit a quieter home. She will take time to get used to new people but she is getting more confident. She can be rehomed with children over 6y.o and she can also live with cats. Mitzy is still learning to walk on a lead and will be nervous in built up areas so it's important to make sure you have quiet areas close by she can be exercised until she gets used to the great outdoors. Mitzy will make someone a great companion, she will need regular grooming at home to keep her coat in good condition. An understanding home is sought who will let her find her feet and adjust to her new home in her own time.

Molly, a 10 years old female Crossbreed available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Molly

Wales
SexFemale
Age10 years
BreedCrossbreed

Please meet Molly a very pretty 18 month old Rottie cross who arrived at WWP alongside her brother Enzo as unclaimed strays. Molly is full of life, energetic, bouncy, scatty but above all extremely friendly!! She’s the ultimate fun dog who brings a smile to everyone’s face!! Like her brother Enzo she’s had no basic training before arriving with us so we have been working hard to set boundaries and teach her the basics! She’s such a busy little girl all she wants to do is play, so she will need an relatively active home. Molly is extremely loving and super people friendly, she literally adores everyone! We wouldn’t rehome her with children under 10y.o simply because she’d knock small people over! Molly is dog friendly and mixes well but she would need a dog of similar size and energy level in a home, we can imagine she’d be rather annoying to a non playful dog. She loves playing with our resident Collie 'Little Max' and the pair wear each other out nicely! She could also be rehomed as an only dog, she is not cat tested. Someone is going to be very lucky to share their life with this bundle of fun, to sum her up she’s energetic, loving, playful, soft as a brush and very trainable.

Murphy, a 8 years old male French Bulldog available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Murphy

Wales
SexMale
Age8 years
BreedFrench Bulldog

Here we have yet another unclaimed stray, a beautiful Merle Frenchie who arrived in a sorry state. Murphy was extremely underweight and had quite a bit of muscle wastage due to what we believe was caused by being crated for long periods of time. But despite his previous ordeal this boy couldn’t be any more people friendly!! He is your ultimate ā€˜people’ dog who is as happy as the day is long. He greets everyone with not just a tail wag but the biggest body wiggle that you’ve ever seen!!! Murphy isn’t a fan of other dogs, so will need to be an only dog. He is not cat tested. Murphy loves his walks and enjoys getting out and about with his humans. He travels well in the car and is always up for a little adventure!! He can be rehomed with children over 8y.o and would suit a family home. Murphy is desperate for a family of his own to love and cherish. His main aim in life is to make people smile and that he does well

Princess, a 7 years old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Princess

Wales
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

Princess is a pretty 7y.o blue Staffie that arrived with us as an unclaimed stray. She was found tied up in a remote wooded area and just left It was obvious she had been heavily bred from. Lucky for Princess she found her way to WWP, where she is safe until she finds her forever family. Princess is a proper little Staffie, you would never say she’s 7y.o!! She’s an active girl who loves long walks and her off lead run in our secure field!! She is strong on the lead and that will need ongoing training. She travels well in the car and loves going out for a jolly! She is a little vocal when she sees other dogs on a walk, it’s not so much a bark but a Staffie screech as we call it (if you know you know) Unfortunately Princess is not dog friendly so will need to be rehomed as an only dog and no cats either. She is super people friendly and can be rehomed with children over 8y.o. Princess was rehomed shortly after she arrived in our care, we are told she was the perfect house guest and settled into home life really quickly. Unfortunately her new owner fell and broke his leg so she was returned to our care as it also led to some other health issues for him. So Princess is looking for that special someone to offer her the home she deserves. She really isn’t happy in kennels so we hope she won’t have to wait too long before she’s given a second chance

Prinnie, a 3 years old female Dachshund available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Prinnie

Wales

Age3 years
BreedDachshund

Prinnie the young Dachshund arrived with us as an unclaimed stray. She was overweight, struggling to walk and very scared. Fast forward a few weeks and the diet is taking effect, she’s now enjoying her daily exercise and is much more confident and friendly! When she arrived all she wanted to do was hide from the world and people were a huge threat, now she enjoys meeting new people and looks for attention! She’s a comical little girl who just wants to find a human of her own. She has had a few sleepovers in a home and she was definitely glad to have her home comforts back! She slept all night and interacted with the resident Rottie who loved her!! She is dog friendly and mixes well with all dogs. While she was good with the 3y.o child in the home she did take herself off for some peace and quiet!! So ideally needs to be rehomed with children over 8y.o. She is not cat tested but we think she could live with a confident cat. Prinnie walks beautifully on the lead and loves nothing more than a spin in the car!! She is looking for someone who wants a dog snuggle up on the sofa with, that is her dream
