About West Wales Poundies

West Wales Poundies was founded in 2007 after its founder stepped in to help two Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies facing euthanasia in a local pound. What began as an urgent effort to save a small number of at-risk dogs quickly grew into a dedicated rescue focused on helping unclaimed pound dogs across West Wales. Working with a small but committed team, the charity has since rescued and rehomed hundreds of dogs that would otherwise have been put to sleep. West Wales Poundies continues to focus on giving vulnerable dogs a second chance at life through rescue, rehabilitation, and responsible rehoming.

Chase

Wales
SexMale
Age10 years
BreedLurcher

Please meet Chase one of our latest unclaimed strays.. This big handsome lad arrived in excellent condition and we are pretty sure he was someone’s pet. Chase is as I said on the larger side, he has the sweetest temperament and is everyone’s friend. He walks beautifully on the lead and trots calmly by your side. He loves nothing more than a good run in our enclosed field and he’s quite impressive when he’s at full speed!! He is dog friendly mixing well with all dogs, due to his size I’d say he’d be better suited to medium to large dogs. He will not be rehomed with cats. He can live with children 10y.o and above. Chase is an adorable boy who aims to please, he welcomes everyone enthusiastically and wants to be everyone’s friend. He really will make someone a cracking companion

Dexter, a 6 months old male Collie available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Dexter

Wales
SexMale
Age6 months
BreedCollie

Dexter is a beautiful 6 month old Border Collie pup who arrived with us as an unclaimed stray. We are the fourth home he’s had in his short life, which is incredibly sad. Dexter is well socialised, well behaved and we can see no reason why he has been passed around so much. He knows all the basic commands, walks well on the lead, and really is a pleasure to be around. Dexter is currently in foster with a variety of other dogs and mixes well with them all. He is polite and respectful, both on and off lead. He is a typical Collie pup and can get a little overexcited at times, but that is to be expected. He enjoys playing with his friends in our enclosed field and loves snuggling up on the sofa in the evenings. Dexter travels well in the car and loves going on adventures. He would suit an active home that can provide plenty of exercise as well as mental stimulation. He isn’t the sort of dog who will be happy with a quick five minute stroll around the block! He would benefit from ongoing training and someone willing to put the time and effort into helping him reach his full potential

Huxley, a 5 months old male Crossbreed available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Huxley

Wales
SexMale
Age5 months
BreedCrossbreed

Introducing Huxley, a stunning Welsh Foxhound x Collie mix who is now 20 weeks old. Born in a barn to a stray mum who had lived rough for years, Huxley was safely rescued alongside his littermates and is now ready for his next chapter! Huxley has grown into a confident, cheeky, and affectionate boy who truly embraces life. He is full of curiosity, loves to explore, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, quickly learning boundaries from older companions. He can be rehomed as an only dog or with canine friends, and could even live with a confident cat. Due to his boisterous puppy nature, any children in the home should be aged 6 or over. An Active Lifestyle: Once fully grown, he’ll make a fantastic partner for running, canicross, or mantrailing. Space to Explore: His nose rarely leaves the ground, and he loves zooming around enclosed fields before crashing at your feet for a nap. Training & Puppy-Proofing: He will need to attend puppy classes, will be rehomed on a neutering contract, and needs a home where loose items are kept out of reach (he loves hoovering up floor treasures!). Huxley has a beautiful soft side and loves curling up for a cuddle on the sofa. Those big paws are a giveaway, though, he is set to follow in his mother's footsteps and will likely grow into a large dog.

Jet, a 4 years old male Crossbreed available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Jet

Wales
SexMale
Age4 years
BreedCrossbreed

Please meet the very handsome Jet who arrived with us a few weeks ago. He was going to be PTS through no fault of his own, hence why we stepped in to offer him a second chance. Jet has been the most perfect gentleman since arriving here with us and has flown through his assessment with flying colours. He is a little nervous on first introductions but quickly warms to new people. He is a 4y.o Collie cross (we believe Collie x Lab) he’s taller than a collie and quite lean. He is the most loyal, faithful companion who chooses to stay close by your side wherever you go Jet is quite nervous meeting new dogs, he genuinely wants to interact but has no idea how. That said he happily goes out into our enclosed field in a mixed group and chooses to keep himself to himself. So if he’s to be rehomed with another dog he’d be best suited to a calm, respectful dog or he’d be just as happy as an only dog in the home. Jet has not met cats. He loves to play ball and is one of the cleverer ones who always brings it back!! He walks nicely on the lead once he settles and travels quietly in the car. I have a soft spot for this boy, to think his life was very nearly ended prematurely is heartbreaking He has the most comical facial expressions which never fails to put a smile on our faces and just wants to please He would suit an active family with teenagers and above.

She will take time to get used to new people but she is getting more confident. She can be rehomed with children over 6y.o and she can also live with cats. Mitzy is still learning to walk on a lead and will be nervous in built up areas so it's important to make sure you have quiet areas close by she can be exercised until she gets used to the great outdoors. Murphy, a 8 years old male French Bulldog available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Murphy

Wales
SexMale
Age8 years
BreedFrench Bulldog

Here we have yet another unclaimed stray, a beautiful Merle Frenchie who arrived in a sorry state. Murphy was extremely underweight and had quite a bit of muscle wastage due to what we believe was caused by being crated for long periods of time. But despite his previous ordeal this boy couldn’t be any more people friendly!! He is your ultimate ā€˜people’ dog who is as happy as the day is long. He greets everyone with not just a tail wag but the biggest body wiggle that you’ve ever seen!!! Murphy isn’t a fan of other dogs, so will need to be an only dog. He is not cat tested. Murphy loves his walks and enjoys getting out and about with his humans. He travels well in the car and is always up for a little adventure!! He can be rehomed with children over 8y.o and would suit a family home. Murphy is desperate for a family of his own to love and cherish. His main aim in life is to make people smile and that he does well

Princess, a 7 years old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Princess

Wales
SexFemale
Age7 years
BreedStaffordshire Bull Terrier

Princess is a pretty 7y.o blue Staffie that arrived with us as an unclaimed stray. She was found tied up in a remote wooded area and just left It was obvious she had been heavily bred from. Lucky for Princess she found her way to WWP, where she is safe until she finds her forever family. Princess is a proper little Staffie, you would never say she’s 7y.o!! She’s an active girl who loves long walks and her off lead run in our secure field!! She is strong on the lead and that will need ongoing training. She travels well in the car and loves going out for a jolly! She is a little vocal when she sees other dogs on a walk, it’s not so much a bark but a Staffie screech as we call it (if you know you know) Unfortunately Princess is not dog friendly so will need to be rehomed as an only dog and no cats either. She is super people friendly and can be rehomed with children over 8y.o. Princess was rehomed shortly after she arrived in our care, we are told she was the perfect house guest and settled into home life really quickly. Unfortunately her new owner fell and broke his leg so she was returned to our care as it also led to some other health issues for him. So Princess is looking for that special someone to offer her the home she deserves. She really isn’t happy in kennels so we hope she won’t have to wait too long before she’s given a second chance

Romy, a 5 years old female Crossbreed available for adoption from West Wales Poundies in Wales

West Wales Poundies

Romy

Wales
SexFemale
Age5 years
BreedCrossbreed

Introducing Romy, a stunning Welsh Foxhound x Collie (we think!) who is now 16 weeks old. She was born in a barn, where she spent the first five weeks of her life. Her mum, Athena, had been living rough in the same area for 4–5 years, managing to avoid capture all that time. Once we became aware of her situation, she was safely trapped along with her little ones and the rest, as they say, is history! Romy has grown into a confident, cheeky, and affectionate young girl who truly embraces life. She’s full of curiosity, loves to explore, and is always eager to learn. She gets on well with other dogs, is respectful, and quickly learns boundaries from the older dogs around her. Romy could happily be rehomed either as an only dog or with canine companions, and she could also live with a confident cat. Due to her boisterous nature, any children in the home would need to be aged 6 or over. She is searching for an active home where she can really thrive. Once she’s old enough, she would make a great companion for running, mantrailing, canicross, or similar activities. Outdoors, her nose rarely leaves the ground as she explores her surroundings with enthusiasm! She loves a good run around our enclosed field with her friends, followed by collapsing at your feet for a well-earned snooze. Despite her energy, she also has a softer side and enjoys nothing more than curling up for a cuddle on the sofa. Romy will need to attend puppy training classes and will be rehomed on a neutering contract. Her mum is a large dog, and Romy looks set to follow in her footsteps, those big paws are a giveaway! She is unlikely to stay small once fully grown. As with all youngsters, you’ll need to make your home ā€˜puppy-proof,’ as she has a talent for hoovering up anything she finds on the floor… whether she should have it or not!
